PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hello SBPHC!
We have a very busy year coming up. Starting off with Music On The Bay, March 2-5 at Whiskey Joe's in Tampa. If you have not registered for MOTB, you have until February 26th to do so. The big news of the month, as you know, is that JIMMY BUFFETT is coming to Tampa on June 3rd! We’ll be tailgating of course, and by the time this newsletter comes out the tickets will have been purchased. Hope you got yours! If you can’t go to the concert, you can still come tailgate with us! Of course we have the 21st Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club Birthday Bash coming up on June 9-11 at the Magnuson Hotel & Marina. You can register now and when you receive our confirmation back, you can book your room. If you have time to go check this hotel out it is incredible and the view is beautiful. We had a Happy Hour on February 10th at Evie's on University. We had a good crowd, about 40 people I would say showed up. Ron did a GREAT job putting this one together. He also had a door prize with all kinds of goodies in it. Ron brought his iPad and played music for all of us. Great Job, “DJ Ron!” Don't forget to keep checking Facebook, the Five
O'Clock update and the newsletter for all the great things
to come.
SBPHC....What time is it???? Time for a team drink!

“The White Lei” If you see someone wearing one, that means they are new members to the club.
Welcome them and tell them how much fun they are going to have as a member of the Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club! Every month I spotlight the new members that I have met at the meetings. Next time you see someone wearing a white lei, ask them to join your group! They all joined to make new friends, clean the environment and have a lot of fun along the way.
This month I asked each new member what their favorite Buffett song is & why! BRIDGET & DAVE SMITH moved to North Port 3 years ago from Colorado. They are also members of the CHPHC; they decided to be members of both clubs after attending a few of the functions that were sponsored by SBPHC in Key West at MOTM. The beach was a big draw for them to move to Flori-da and snowboarding was getting dangerous, besides that - Dave would ra-ther be golfing in winter! Bridget’s favorite Buffett song is “Fruitcakes” because there is a bit of crazy
in every one of us! Dave’s favorite Buffett song is “Tin Cup Chalice” because it reminds him of the islands.
JUDY ALEXANDER is also from Colorado. Judy is a resident of Grand Junc-tion; she is spending a month in Sarasota. There is no Parrot Head club in Grand Junction, so she decided to join SBPHC with her friend, Lois Weaver-ling. Judy’s first Buffett concert was in Red Rocks, I don’t think that venue can be matched! Judy’s favorite Buffett song is “Margaritaville” because it is fun and it makes her happy!

We need more Fruitcakes in this world & less bakers! Do you love to mingle, jingle, being a social Parrot Head? Well, do we have a job for you! Fruitcakes are members that help new members get acquainted with the club. Fruitcakes help new members learn all the ways our club communicates to the members, understanding all of the club events and charities.
We want to make sure that every one of our members knows who, what, where, how and why about our club and to make sure they meet and make new friends.
Please contact Lucie at [email protected] if you are interested in being a SBPHC Fruitcake.
Here is the MAGIC TICKET FOR THE FEBRUARY SOCIAL, for Renewing members! Cut this out or take a photo of it with your phone and show it to a Bored member, who will give you your FREE REAL TICKET.
Do you receive emails from this address? If you do, then you are aware of all our club happenings. If you are not subscribed to this email group, please visit our webpage www.sbphc.com and follow the link to join. This is an announcement only forum to promote SBPHC activities and other Parrot Head Club events we think our members may be inter-ested in. We do not post private parties, yard sales, individual busi-nesses, Non-Parrot Head Club events, musician schedules, candle parties, house parties, etc. There are many places you can surf the web to find these things without the club overloading your mailbox. You can also join the National Parrot Head email group to keep up with all things Parrot Head. Send an email to: [email protected] and tell them you are a member of the Sarasota Bay Parrot Head Club.
Ongoing Community Service Projects
Pop Tops/Pull Tabs: Don’t throw them away! Save them all and bring them to the monthly meetings. We collect them and turn them in for cash which is donated to Alzheimer’s Association towards our Memory Walk Fundraising. Just another reason to drink more beer and Party with a Purpose!!! Ink Cartridges: What do you do with your empty ink cartridges? Bring them to the next meeting, we collect these and donate them to local schools that get $3.00 per cartridge for school supplies.
The “Not Bored” of Directors meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. If you have any ideas that you would like the board to look into, please contact any Board Member with your thoughts. Volun-teers are always needed. If you are interested in getting more in-volved, please let us know!
