Smile: A pregnant woman got into a car accident and falls into a deep coma. Asleep for

nearly 6 months, when she wakes up she sees that she is no longer pregnant and

frantically asks the doctor about her baby. The doctor replies, "Ma'am you had twins! a

boy and a girl. Your brother from Maryland came in and named them." The woman

thinks to herself, "No, not my brother... he's an idiot!" She asks the doctor, "Well, what's

the girl's name?" "Denise." "Wow, that's not a bad name, I like it! What's the boy's

name?" "Denephew."

Prayer for Mothers

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of home and family; especially those who are

given the joy of motherhood. We thank you for love and kindness, the sacrifice and

devotion of our mothers. Make us always appreciative of the many things our mothers

have done, and continue to do for us their children. Bless the work and contribution made

by women in our society, protect them from harm and injury, and remove from them any

abuse which they may suffer as they fulfill their duties. Help us to support them in the

efforts to make life better for us. Give to them health and happiness in their pursuit of life.

Letter from the Rector

Dear Members,

Retiring Collection

Special thanks to those persons who contributed to our Building Fund with special

emphasis on the recent repairs to the Church roof.

I know that other persons were unable to contribute to the collection which was done in

April. You might not have attended church on that occasion, or might have forgotten to

bring your donation. An opportunity will be provided on the last Sunday of this month, 26

May for another Collection.

I look forward to all members making a special contribution to this work.

Offering Envelopes for 2014

The Church Council has made a decision to use only monthly envelopes from next year.

This means that we are discontinuing with weekly envelopes. A number of reasons have

resulted in this decision:-

1. The cost of the envelopes.

2. The cost of bulk postage from the USA.

3. The monthly envelopes will be cheaper to produce and to post.

4. The wastage of these envelopes, with many of them left unused every year.

5. Persons in many cases have been using one for the month, and leaving the others empty

and attached to the one which carries the money.

It is hoped that we all would be able to make a calculation of the exact monthly figure.

Multiply your weekly contribution by five (5) and come to your final figure.

I am suggesting that persons use the facility offered by Government, through the Inland

Revenue to claim on their income tax, and benefit from any refunds which are available.

We are seeking to be more efficient and more cost effective through this venture.

Supper

Tickets are available for the Supper which will be held on Saturday 08 June 2013. The

Supper List is also available for members to indicate what items they will be contributing

to this event.

Please note that the Food Handling Certificates for persons who will be working at the

Supper are needed by Sunday 19 May 2013 in order to apply for the Restaurant Licence.

Father and himself. This is the closing of what has been called Jesus’ high priestly

prayer. The unity for which he asks reaches deeper than outward signs or human

comprehension. It is the oneness of the Father’s love in the Son and of the Son in the

Father. This love Jesus has made known and it indwells his followers. Their unity will be

a witness to the world. Jesus prays that his disciples may behold and share in the glory

given to him through the Father’s love before the world began.

As we (Paul and his travelling companions) were going to the place of prayer, we were

met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by

soothsaying. She followed Paul and us, crying, "These men are servants of the Most High

God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation." And this she did for many days. But

Paul was annoyed, and turned and said to the spirit, "I charge you in the name of Jesus

Christ to come out of her." And it came out that very hour. But when her owners saw that

their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the market

place before the rulers; and when they had brought them to the magistrates they said,

"These men are Jews and they are disturbing our city. They advocate customs which it is

not lawful for us Romans to accept or practice." The crowd joined in attacking them; and

the magistrates tore the garments off them and gave orders to beat them with rods. And

when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, charging the

jailer to keep them safely. Having received this charge, he put them into the inner prison

and fastened their feet in the stocks. But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and

singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a

great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all

the doors were opened and every one's fetters were unfastened. When the jailer woke and

saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself,

supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, "Do not harm

yourself, for we are all here." And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with

fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, and brought them out and said, "Men, what must I

do to be saved?" And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you

and your household." And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all that were in

his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he

was baptized at once, with all his family. Then he brought them up into his house, and set

food before them; and he rejoiced with all his household that he had believed in God.

Bidding Prayer

In unity of faith, let us pray for the Church and for the world.

Come in mercy to the Church, that her members may be made one, for the purity of her

worship and the strengthening of her witness to the gospel…May all Christian people be

ministers of the divine glory.

We pray for the peace of the world, for the harmony of races and nations…We pray that

all people shall come to know the Lord and find their peace in him.

As we have received the gift of faith, help us to share it with those who are near to us…

May the powerful love of God be the support of our families and friends and of all in this

community.

Have mercy on people and communities torn apart by religious conflict…Heal their

divisions and unite them in mutual love.

We pray for those who have come to the end of their journey in this world…Grant them

to be with the Lord they have loved and to see his glory.

May our prayers be accepted through Christ, who calls us to be one in him. Amen.
