BUSSELTON HEALTH CAMPUS

Both internal and external stakeholders have been involved in services planning and the design of the new health campus.

The new Busselton Health Campus

Busselton Health Campus is part of the largest country public hospital building program ever seen in Australia.

The new $120.4 million health campus includes funding of $40.5million under the State Government’s Royalties for Regions initiative and $2.5 million from the Federal Hospitals and Health Fund.

The new health campus will provide Busselton and the surrounding districts with a new health facility to meet the needs of the community into the future, and reflect contemporary models of care and service delivery.

Construction is expected to be completed in late 2014. All services on the site remain operational while the new campus is being built.

What will be provided ?

The health campus will be a modern, 84 bed one-stop health care hub for the community of Busselton and neighbouring towns and will include:

64 overnight beds (including 4-hospice beds and 6-Short Stay Observation Unit beds);

2 birthing suites; 6 renal dialysis chairs; Emergency department with 15 treatment areas and a short stay

observation unit with 6 beds;

2 modern operating theatres and a procedure room; expanded day surgery facilities including 14-same-day beds; expanded medical imaging services; expanded pathology service; a 6 chair dental clinic; and expanded conference and meeting room facilities. Improved Telehealth capability

Ambulatory Care

The Ambulatory Care area will include:

expanded outpatient consulting facilities, a surgical pre-admission clinic, a community mental health service, community aged care services

and a range of other services such as podiatry, speech pathology, occupational therapy, social work, dietetics, child health, continence, physiotherapy and an immunisation clinic.

The main entrance to the health campus will feature parking in close proximity; paved courtyard areas and ease of access to various areas of the health campus.

The new Emergency Department will enable improved access to services.
