    Dear Rotarians,

Australia is a great country but on some occasions her Nature tests our resolve. In Victoria we havehelicopters dropping buckets of water in an attempt to put out bushfires while in Queensland and northeastern NSW we have more water than we can handle. Usually though, tough times bring out the best inus and we rally together to support each other. We are currently in one of those situations where we needto show our support to our fellow Australians and that support can occur in a variety of ways.

District 9710 is opening a Disaster Relief Appeal for any Clubs or individuals who may wish to donate fundsto assist in the recovery process following both bushfires and floods. These funds will be allocated by theDistrict Board, usually through Rotary Clubs, to areas where the Board believe that they will be bestutilised. Donations can be made as follows:1. To the Rotary International District 9710 Emergency Relief FundIndividuals wanting to make tax deductible donations can do so as follows.A. Electronically or by cash or cheque into the following account:D9710 Nominees Pty LtdSt George Account No: 112 879 485 555 812Donors will need to send a note to the Secretary of the Trust Bill Seelis ([email protected]) withdetails of the donor and the purpose of the donation so that a receipt can be issued.ORB. Post a cheque, with the details of the donor and the purpose of the donation so that a receipt can beissued to:District Treasurer Marie McNeilPO Box 701Moruya NSW 2537

Clubs wishing to donate can do the same or simply send them direct to the District Treasurer as above.

Some may wish to donate directly to BlazeAid to support them in their efforts to support farmers as below:

    2. Directly to BlazeAid

BlazeAidis a volunteer-based organisation that works with farmers and families in rural Australia afternatural disasters such as fires and floods. Working alongside farmers over a period of 3-5 months, up to 30or so volunteers help to rebuild fences that have been damaged or destroyed. Equally important, volunteers also help to lift the spirits of farming families who are facing devastating losses from bushfires.Donations can be made directly into the following account:BlazeAid Special Projects AccountCBA Account No: 063 698 10301665Donations to BlazeAid arenottax deductible.
