Current Shine Middle School Series: Can I Ask That? (For Grades 6-8)Teenagers are tired of vague, superfi cial, or nonexistent answers to their tough questions about God. Who is God? Can we even know if God is real? What proof is there that God exists? What does this mean for my life? The question of the existence of God is one that can change the entire course of a person’s life. This series, “Can I Ask That?” will address questions about God and some of the biggest stumbling blocks in believing that God exists. In laying out foundational truths about God, the goal of this series is for middle school youth to see that it is reasonable to believe that God exists and that, through faith, they can know God and be in a relationship with Him. Shine is our weekly ministry for middle schoolers grades 6-8 on Sunday nights from 6-7:30pm, after the 5pm Mass – all teens and their families are welcome and encouraged to attend the 5pm Mass! Join us every week for food, faith, and fun as we journey in community as disciples on mission in the good life God has planned for us. It doesn’t matter if you go to Catholic School or Non-Catholic School, if you are in 6th, 7th or 8th grade Shine is for YOU.
Current Awaken High School Series: More Than a Hashtag: (Grades 9-12)Justice. Equality. Safety. Freedom. We live in a society that cries out for the injustices committed against one another, and the loudest voice is usually the one that is heard. But what are the ultimate goals of these voices? How do we respond to the complexities of injustice in a way that respects the dignity of all human persons? "More Than A Hashtag" aims to challenge and empower teens to engage in activism from a Catholic worldview. It will provide tools and action steps to help teens bring awareness, advocate, and impact change in the world while being fi rst and foremost an activist for Christ. Awaken is our program on Sunday nights for high school students in grades 9-12 beginning with the 5pm Sunday evening Mass and continuing after Mass until 7:30 pm. At Awaken, high school students join a small group where they can go deeper with one another and their adult mentors, and form life-long friendships through the good, tough, and just busy times of high school.

RECOGNIZING JESUS
Jesus was brought to the Temple for Presentation of the fi rst born.
Simeon and Anna recognized the Messiah in the person of Jesus.
I am called to recognize Jesus in every-one I encounter. How am I doing?

Prayers of the Faithful
On Monday, February 3 we celebrate the feast of Saint Blaise, who was bishop of Sebaste in Armenia in the fourth century. Before being martyred, he is said to
have healed a boy who was choking. Since the eighth century, Saint Blaise has been venerated as the patron
of those who suffer from diseases of the throat. We pray in a special way for protection from affl ictions of
the throat and from other illnesses. The blessing of Saint Blaise is a sign of our faith in God's protection
and love for us and for the sick.
Feast of St. Blaise, Bishop and
Martyr
Monday, February 3
The blessing of throats will take place after the 8:15am and 12:10pm
Masses on Monday, February 3.
