“Real commitment from customers would go a long way to unlock investment”
This investment must be focused In key areas.
➢ Environment - By improving efficiency and greatly reducing emissions.➢ Crew Wellbeing and Safety while Operating in a Pandemic Environment➢ Enhanced Station keeping and redundancy.➢ Digital remote monitoring and service / survey while remaining cyber
secure.
High specification PSVs are already providing the foundation for SOV design improvements.
➢ These developments will eventually feed back to the OSV fleets.➢ Use of renewable energy sources will increase in importance

SOV

➢ Dual Fuel Diesel and LNG (or Hydrogen) only a transitional solution, these fuels will not get us to IMO 2050 and valid concerns remain over Methane emissions in the supply chain.
➢ Methanol showed early promise, but progress has slowed.
➢ Bio-Fuels and Synthetics, availability in the vast amounts needed remains a problem
➢ Ammonia and Hydrogen to power fuel cells backed up with Energy Storage would appear to offer the best way forward.
➢ Production in a low carbon or a carbon neutral way is expensive, we need massive scale via renewables for green hydrogen
FOR THE VESSEL OF THE FUTURE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE WILL BE
EMISSIONS
seacormarine.com 4
➢ Carbon Neutral.
➢ Capable of accurately reporting emissions.
➢ Fuel cell powered using green fuels with hybrid ESS.
➢ Efficient hull form and coatings.
➢ Low ship service loads.
➢ Digital, arranged with remote access for maintenance and surveys.
➢ Capable of semi autonomous operation between port limits and 500m zone.
➢ Reduced manning.
➢ Cyber secure.
