The Eye • Objectives: • Know about eye structure and function • Understand how eyes work
Dec 24, 2015
Starter: Pupil reflex
• Cover your eyes for 30 seconds
• Open them and look into your partners eyes and watch what happens
• Can you explain what is happening and why?
Starter 2: Finding your blind spot
• Find your blind spot by using the spot and cross on the card
• Hold the card 60cm away from your face, with dot on the right
• Close your LEFT eye and stare at the cross
• Move the card slowly towards your face
• What happens?
The dot should disappear. Why?
• The image falls on a blind spot at the back of the eye on your retina
• There are no light sensitive cells here because this is the place on the retina where the nerves leave the eye to the brain
