Hi there all, Hope you had a nice Easter - a well-deserved break, even though it was a complete wash-out weather wise! Our first Banbury edition was way back in October last year, so we have definitely got into the swing of producing this latest edition of the Express in the Banbury area. It has exceeded all expectations - with advertisers rebooking again and again, which is wonderful news. However you are travelling…
Driving... Make adjustments – Many back problems are caused or aggravated by poor driving posture. If you’re driving to your holiday destination, ensure the seat position is slightly backwards so that it feels natural and that your elbows are at a comfortable and relaxed angle. Adjust the base of the seat to make it horizontal and if necessary fill in the rear of the seat with a folded towel.
Relax – Relax at the wheel, as this reduces stress on the spine and allows your seat to take your weight.
Keep an eye on the clock – Stop and stretch your legs (and arms!) at least every two hours.
Clench! – If you are stuck in traffic, exercise in your seat. Try buttock clenches, side bends and shoulder shrugs and circles.
Keep it loose – Don’t wear tight clothing as they will restrict your movement.
Flying... Flying high – Avoid alcohol before and during the flight as this will cause you to dehydrate and, in turn, exaggerate muscle pain. Drink plenty of water instead.
Air exercise – You will be restricted to your seat for most of the flight, but avoid stiffness by doing shoulder shrugs, buttock clenches and foot
circles. Take the opportunity to get up and stretch your legs whenever you can.
Avoid ‘travelators’ – Get your joints moving quickly after a flight and walk to arrivals rather than the easy option of a moving walkway.
Push, don’t pull! – Many wheeled cases encourage you to pull the case handle from behind, but this makes the upper body/back twist. If possible, push the case in front of you or use a trolley making sure you choose one from the stack which does not have ‘wonky wheels’, as keeping it on track will not do your back any good!
At Your Destination… Bed down – When you get to your hotel, if your bed is too hard ask the hotel staff for a spare duvet or blanket to put between you and the mattress.
Firm beds are not always best, but it is easier to soften a hard bed than make
a soft bed harder.
Lounging around – If you’re heading to the sun loungers in search of the perfect tan, try not to lie on your tummy with your back and neck arched back when reading your book or magazine. Put the reading matter on the floor, so that you can view it over the edge of the sun bed; this should allow you to keep your head and neck in a more neutral position.

DON’T BELOST FOR WORDS! Vicky Boulton, Marketing Consultant with Fuel, gives her top 10 tips for successful copywriting…
Umm…err…well… If you’re lost for words or just not quite sure what to say when it comes to writing adverts, articles, flyers, brochures or website copy – the following top 10 tips for successful copywriting should give you some inspiration.Every word that you use needs to be a personal and targeted communication to your customers. It must address and understand their needs, desires and fears, as well as communicating the benefits of what you are offering. There must also be a simple call to action. This must tell people exactly what they need to do, and make it easy for them to do so.1. Ensure your copy has a clear structure.2. Every piece of writing should have a rhythm. Always read it aloud when it’s finished. 3. Use strong, stimulating headlines that evoke curiosity.
4. Use at least two headlines or sub-heads per page of text. 5. Don’t write in capital letters.
6. Don’t use too many words. A maximum of 20 words is perfect for a sentence. Whilst a paragraph should never be more than 15 lines.7. Don’t write negatively.8. Select only the right words. Avoid long words, abstract words or words that lack meaning.9. You is the most powerful word in advertising – never be afraid to use it!10. Leave your impact until the end of a sentence - Why do you think punch lines in jokes always come at the end?
“Every word that you use needs to be a personal and targeted communication to your customers. It must address and understand their needs...”

bouncing into the new season with a brand new name. “Country Secrets” - because we have so much more than ‘purely’ plants on sale for anyone who loves country-style living, gardening, pets and lovely unique gifts.
Another good reason to visit us in April is to stock up on vegetable seeds to plant directly outside such as early carrots, beetroot, peas, parsnips, radish, spinach – well the list just goes on and on at this time of year. Alternatively, buying vegetable plants gives you the opportunity to try a number of different varieties. So what about the eating? A welcome addition to any meal is a pinch of home grown herbs. Herbs are relatively trouble free plants which romp away in the comfortable conditions found in most gardens. They generally need a free draining soil and some like rosemary, thyme, sage and oregano prefer full sun. Slightly shadier conditions are favoured by chervil, rocket, red mustard and parsley. Create a tapestry of colour and texture by placing chives alongside purple sage and variegated thyme. Just keep snipping away at the plants to keep them in control and encourage new growth.
A great summer treat is
to have pots and pots of succulent basil available to jazz up the tomatoes you’ve grown, or whizz the basil up with oil and garlic to make a versatile pesto sauce. Plant the seeds thinly indoors on moist compost and with a thin covering. After about 3 weeks thin out the seedlings to 3 plants to each 5cm pot. Nip the plants at roughly 5 weeks to make them bush out and plant them on to their ultimate growing pot to sit on a sunny windowsill or outside once summer is really here. Like us, they love the sunshine.
Other jobs to do in the garden: Watch out for slugs and
snails – they will start to thrive now and will love your tasty seedlings.
Keep some fleece handy to cover tender camellia flowers or plum and pear blossom if a sharp frost is threatened.
As potted plants come back to life, top up with fresh compost and start to feed with fertiliser.
Plant herbaceous perennials ready for a summer show – foxgloves, lupins, delphiniums. Great value as they’re with you year after year.
Sow annuals for flowering highlights of summer colour.
...with milder weather and signs of new life in the garden.
