CIVITAS – cleaner and better transport in cities – stands for CIty-VITAlity-Sustainability.
CIVITAS is an EU initiative for supportingsustainable and energy efficient urban transport and mobility strategies in European cities that should make a real difference to the welfare of the European
citizen.

– launched under the 7th EU Research Framework Programme
– Focus on the sustainable dimension of transport policy and urban mobility
– Groups 8 cities in 2 demonstration projects

• Mainly active through an online platform, training and workshops/seminars (esp. in Poland)
• Led by the University of Gdansk, supported by the UBC Commissions on Environment and Transport and the City of Gdynia
