I. LEARNING OBJECTIVEDescribe the major parts of the circulatory system

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: The Circulatory System The Major Parts of the Circulatory System

A. Science Concept/s:

The circulatory system delivers the materials needed by the body cells to survive.

The circulatory system removes the waste materials from the cells.

The major parts of the circulatory system are the heart, the blood and the blood vessels.

1. Motivation

Have you eaten your breakfast? lunch?Where does the digested food go? How

does it reach its destination when you eat your food?

3. Analysis and Discussion

Parts of the Circulatory System

Circulation is the movement of the blood through the vessels as a result of heart’s pumping action

It is a hollow muscular organ that pumps blood to the different parts of the body

These are elastic tubes or passages in the body through which blood circulates

It is the carrier of food nutrients and gasses that are transported to and from the body cells.

Circulatory System is the transport system of the body. It carries oxygen and food nutrients to the body cells and picks up carbon dioxide and other waste of the body.

5. Application: Group Work

Group IDraw the circulatory system and label the major parts

Group II - Identifying the Parts of the Circulatory System1. Get the model of the circulatory system. Locate the heart.2. Place your right hand on the left side of your breast. What have you

observed?3. Clench your fist then hold your wrist tightly for 20 sec. Open your fist.

What happens to the color of your hand?4. Release your hold of your wrist. What happens to the color of your

hand?5. What can you infer your observations on the changes of color and feeling

in your hand?

Group IIIHeart Rate and Breathing Rate

1. Place your middle and index finger on your wrist. What can you feel2. Place the same finger on your neck just below your ear. Can you feel

something? What you feel is your heartbeat.3. Feel your pulse for one minute.4. Count the number of your pulse beats. Do this three times.5. Get your average pulse beat.6. Record your observation in the table.

Valuing:

Man was created by God in his image, He gave us a perfect body parts. We should take good care of it by eating right kind and amount of food and maintain cleanliness.

IDENTIFY THE FOLLOWING:

Blood 1. It is the carrier of food nutrients and gasses that are transported to and from the body cells.

Blood Vessels 2. These are the pathways or tubes in the body through which blood flows.

Heart 3. It is the most important part of the circulatory system that pumps the blood to circulates throughout the body

Circulatory System 4. It is the transport system of the body .

Circulation 5. It is the process by which nutrients and gases are transported throughout the body.

V. ASSIGNMENT

Research about The Heart. Draw it in your notebook and label the major parts.
