Dear St. Anne’s Parish,

St. Anne has been chosen as my Teaching Parish as part of my seminary formation. I am very excited to be assigned to your parish and I look forward to meeting all of you. Each seminarian from the archdiocesan seminary here, St. Francis de Sales Seminary, is assigned a teaching parish in his last four years of seminary. During the course of these four years, up until priestly ordination, I will be engaged in many aspects of parish life at St. Anne. As a part of this program I have what is called a “Teaching Parish Committee” whose members will guide me in my involvement and growth at St. Anne. These members are Fr. Bob, Vicki Alia, Fred Carruba, Dean Hellwig, Sean Ryan, Rich Sosa, Deacon Rich Stanula, and Ann Winius. I thank them for their generosity in being available for me in this program.

A little about me, I am actually a seminarian for the Diocese of LaCrosse. I studied for one year at the University of Eau-Claire, WI, and then trans-ferred into seminary at St. John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul, MN. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas, which is where my college seminary sends their guys for academics. I have four brothers, and my parents own and operate the Culvers Restaurant in my hometown, Tomah, WI.

I will have an opportunity to introduce myself at all the Masses on the weekend of October 4/5. I look forward to seeing many of you then!

God’s blessing to you, Kyle Laylan

If you plan to have your child baptized at St. Anne, please call the Parish Office to register for the next available Baptism Reflection. Please allow 2 months to complete your preparation.

Combined Collections: Church in Mission Next weekend we will collect for this annual appeal that offers us the opportunity to help people in need through five important efforts. The Catholic Relief Services Collection benefits Catholic Relief Services,

The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., Migration and Refugee Services, the Holy Father’s Relief Fund, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Department for Justice, Peace and Human Development.

Catholic Home Missions Appeal supports missions in Appalachia and the Deep South, the Southwest, the mountain west, and dioceses of the Caribbean and the Pacific.

Collection for the Works of the Holy Father: Peter’s Pence assists the pope in maintaining the administration of 700 million Catholics and special needs in Third World countries.

World Mission Sunday (Propagation of the Faith) supports and sends missionaries and seeks world peace with justice.

The Church in Central and Eastern Europe funds the restoration and renewal of the Church in Europe.

After praying and reflecting on these vital Catholic efforts, please give generously.

Play and Pray We’ve created a “Wonderful Wednesday” opportunity for parents of young children to come together with their kids and play and pray at St. Anne. This is a free drop-in pro-gram from 9:30-11am the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month where parents/grandparents can bring their little ones (unregistered) to play together in the Multi-purpose room. This is a supervise-your-own-kids kind of a morning, but we’ll have a plastic kitchen and grocery store set com-plete with pretend plastic spaghetti and meatballs to say the traditional Catholic meal prayer over, some puppets including Baby Jesus and King David, and dress-up clothes, etc. and we could share snacks and songs and loosely organized play time together in a safe environment where Catholic parents could grow in fellowship with one another, swap stories of shared struggles, etc. We begin October 8th. It’s going to be a great way to spend a Wednesday! In a safe space that cares for both parent and child!

Exact dates are as follows: Oct. 8 and 22, November 12 and 26, December 10th, Jan. 14 and 28, Feb. 11 and 25, March 11 and 25, April 8 and 22. “Heaven Help Me! Stewardship; A Way of Life

Stewardship Prayer My church is composed of people like me.

I help make it what it is. It will be friendly, if I am.

Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great work, if I work.

It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver.

It will bring other people into its worship and fellowship, if I invite and bring them. It will be a church of loyalty and love,

of fearlessness and faith, and a church with a noble spirit,

if I, who make it what it is, am filled with these same things.

Therefore, with the help of God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all the

things that I want my church to be.
