October marks the beginning of the new fiscal year
and FY16 will undoubtedly be a demanding year
for Comptrollers. The Budget Control Act and
Continuing Resolutions are challenges that engage our skills and
often stress our workforce. Staying connected to your
Redstone/Huntsville ASMC Chapter has never been more important.
We need to draw on the expertise of one another, keep our training
current, and network to be successful. I encourage everyone to play
an active part in ASMC.
Please plan to join us for the 8 October Luncheon at Trinity Methodist
Church. October is our "Retiree Roundup" and we want to see and
visit with all our retired members. I will be sharing important news
about "The State of the Redstone/Huntsville Chapter" during the
luncheon. Not all of our members have a clear understanding of how
the chapter works financially, what the status of our membership is,
committee opportunities, and how a successful chapter is measured.

Christina Ridgeway - President – Called meeting to order @11:05 am 3 Sep 15.
Minutes for August meeting were approved.
Christina Ridgeway – President
Tried to contact National about dollars from PDI but was unable to make contact. Will keep trying.
For Christopher Paz – Christopher is looking into offering some CDFM courses in the near future, possibly brown bag.
Christina plans to discuss ‘State of Chapter’ at the October luncheon. Will talk about memberships, officers and chairs and explain how the chapter operates. Will mention the upcoming luncheons and topics planned.
For Kim Jean – All chapter competition items have been submitted.
For Mark Lutz – Everything for audit has been completed.
Debbie O’Neal – Vice President
Only 8 reservations for Sep luncheon. Trinity was late getting her the menu so announcement was late going out. She has requested Trinity provide the following month’s menu at the current month’s luncheon so this doesn’t continue to happen.
November luncheon is too close to the holiday so proposed to move the luncheon to 5 November. Board meeting will be moved as well, tentatively to 4 November.
Special Olympics is coming up. Debbie has sent a tentative list of volunteers but people can still sign up.
Debbie will be putting information out soon for National awards nominees. Several categories are available for nominations.
Dana Wilbanks – Community Services and Memberships
Tut Fann Valentine’s Day Party is scheduled for 12 Feb. ASMC has been asked to bring candy. Will collect candy at the January and February luncheons.
Plans to send email to all members whose membership has expired. Audrea Edwards mentioned Na-tional was giving away 3 Amazon gift cards. Selections would be from any new memberships or mem-berships renewed before 1 Oct.
Dana will also work on obtaining new corporate members.

Stephen Elison – Training and Education
Spoke with Martin Roggio regarding Mini-PDI. Martin provided him a list of people that sponsored the Mini-PDI last year. Stephen will contact those individuals but will also go after some of the bigger corporate sponsors and try to pull in more sponsorship.
LaToya Sims – Newsletter
Has compiled everything from July to Sep. We should see that newsletter soon.
Audrea Edwards - Treasurer
Received no feedback on budgets and financial statement reports. Assumes everything is in order.
Received membership rebate this week.
Will need to make decision in Feb on whether to roll over CD at First Commercial.
Tax forms have to be turned in by 1 Nov.
Rhea Paseur – Programs
Has received packets for this month’s speaker.
Plans to have a 2-part presentation on the DoD FM Certification program. Looking for someone who has completed their certification that would be willing to participate. Discussion topics may include courses cross-walk, demo of how to go through the process, issues people are having with the system, etc. LaToya recommended going out to the membership and seeing what issues people have had with working through the process. Part 1 of presentation is tentatively scheduled for the November luncheon.

CDFM - Earned Value Management & EDFMT Offering RSA
Introduction to Earned Value Management (EVM)
By Christopher Paz, CDFM
Earned value management (EVM) is a performance measurement technique on measuring a program’s performance and process through combination measure-ments of the scope, schedule, and costs. The program EVM determines the fore-casts of cost performance (over budget or under budget) and schedule perfor-mance (behind schedule or ahead of schedule). The benefits of EVM provides con-tractors and program managers with similar data to critically assess the execution status of their contractors. The concept of EVM leads to the development of an In-tegrated Baseline Review (IBR). The IBR is collaborate baseline measurement be-tween the contractor and the program managers to analyze and evaluate their con-tract performance status.

2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS VOLUNTEERS
The Special Olympics will be October 20, 2015 at Milton Frank Stadium, from 8:00 till 1:00. Rain date is October 22, 2015. We need LOTS of volunteers because we have lost the Soldiers due to the School at Redstone moving. The Soldiers were always our escorts and without them we will have to have two civilians/students to replace one Soldier as escorts. We also have the other job assignment to fill. The event assignments and escorts jobs require the volunteer to be there the entire day which is 8:00 - 1:00.
Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Those volunteers under the age of 16 can assist in the activity tents, cheer sections and other areas as needed. This is a good way for your children to get volunteer hours for school. Please give me the name and age if you are 16 or younger.
If you are a returning Volunteer, please indicate the volunteer role that you would like to be re-assigned to or if you would like to have a new assignment. If you have a handicap that you need to do something special like a setting assignment let me know. Beth Middleton will do her best to put you were you request.
Events are East & West Track and Field, Shot Put, Soft Ball, Standing Long Jump, Running Long Jump, Job assignments could be Escort, Recorders, Timers, Stagers, Runners, Judges table, Award, Measurers, Huggers, Spotters and more. Escort duties are attached.
Please provide your name, e-mail address, if you are an ASMC member or not and if you have an ASMC blue T-Shirt or not. We have had great participation in the past and we certainly need your help again this year the rewards are well worth it.
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year - round sports, training and athletic competition giving them continuing opportunities to develop physics fitness, demonstrate
courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the
community.
Thank you for volunteering.
