How does the Prayer of the Holy Rosary Arises

The prayer of the Holy Rosary arises approximately in the year 800 when the psaltery of the laity was created. At that time the monks prayed the 150 psalms, but as most lay people could not read, they were taught to pray 150 Our Fathers. Then three other psalteries were formed, including 150 Hail Marys', 150 praises in honor of Jesus and 150 praises in honor of Mary. In the year 1365 the four psalteries were combined. The 150 Marian Birds were divided into 15 tens and a Our Father was placed at the begin-ning of each of them. In 1500 it was estab-lished, for each decade, the meditation of an event of the life of Jesus or Mary, and thus the Rosary of fifteen mysteries arose. In the year 2002 Pope St. John Paul II introduced the luminous mysteries. With this, there are currently 20 mysteries in the Holy Rosary. The word Rosary means “Crown of Roses”. The Virgin Mary has revealed to many people that each time they pray a Hail Mary they give her a rose and for each complete Rosary they give her a crown of roses. Just as the rose is the queen of flowers, the Rosary is the rose of all devotions and, therefore, is the most important. The Holy Rosary is considered as the perfect prayer be-cause it meditates the main mysteries or facts of the life, death and glory of Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother. These are dis-tributed in the joyful, painful, glorious and luminous mysteries.

Cómo Surge el Rezo del Santo Rosario El rezo del Santo Rosario surge aproximadamente en el año 800 cuando se creó el salterio de los laicos. En esa época los monjes rezaban los 150 salmos, pero como la mayoría de los lai-cos no sabían leer, se les enseñó a rezar 150 Padres nuestros. Después se formaron otros tres salterios que incluían 150 Aves Marías, 150 alabanzas en honor de Jesús y 150 alabanzas en ho-nor de María. En el año 1365 se combinaron los cuatro salterios. Se divi-

dieron las 150 Aves Marías en 15 decenas y se puso un Padre nuestro al inicio de cada una de ellas. En 1500 se estableció, para ca-da decena, la meditación de un hecho de la vida de Jesús o María, y así surgió el Rosa-rio de quince misterios. En el año 2002 el Papa San Juan Pablo II introdujo los miste-rios luminosos. Con ello, se cuentan actual-mente 20 misterios en el Santo Rosario. La palabra Rosario significa “Corona de Rosas”. La Virgen María ha revelado a

muchas personas que cada vez que rezan un Ave María le entre-gan una rosa y por cada Rosario completo le entregan una corona de rosas. Así como la rosa es la reina de las flores, el Rosario es la rosa de todas las devociones y, por lo tanto, es la más importante. El Santo Rosario es considerado como la oración perfecta porque se meditan los principales misterios o hechos de la vida, muerte y gloria de Jesucristo y de su Santísima Madre. Estos es-tán distribuidos en los misterios gozosos, dolorosos, gloriosos y luminosos.
