Short Title. This Act may be cited as "The Animals Protection Act of 1925." 2. Repeal of 1 Edw.7 No. 26. "The Animals Protection Act of 1901" is repealed. 3. Interpretation. In this Act, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the meanings set against them respectively, that is to say:- "Animal"-Any animal or bird of whatsoever species whether in a natural or domestic state: The term includes any domestic or captive animal; "Domestic animal"-Any animal or bird (of whatsoever kind or species and whether a quadruped or not) which is tame or which has been or is being sufficiently tamed to serve some purpose for the use of man, or which, although it neither has been nor is being nor is intended to be so tamed, is or has become in fact wholly or partly tame; "Captive animal"-Any animal or bird (not being a domestic animal) of whatsoever kind or species, and whether a quad- ruped or not, including any fish or reptile, which is in cap- tivity or confinement, whether permanent or temporary, or which is chained or tethered or which is subjected to any appliance or contrivance for the purpose of hindering or pre- venting its escape from captivity or confinement, whether manent or temporary, or which is pinioned or which is or appears to be maimed; "Dog"-Includes any bitch or puppy; "Horse"-Includes any mare, gelding, pony, foal, colt, filly, or stallion; "Officer" -The following paid servants of the Royal Queensland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty, namely-the Secretary, Chief Inspector, and Inspectors, also every member of the Police Force and any other person approved to be an officer under this Act by the Governor in Council. "Court"-Any court of petty sessions under "The Justices Acts, 1886 to 1924"; "Ill-treat" includes ill-treat, wound, mutilate, overdrive, over-ride, overwork, abuse, worry, torment, torture and cause any animal unnecessary pain or suffering; also overload or drive when
