Declaration M-WAZ 3D MULTI-CLIENT 3D SEISMIC SURVEY Project Summary Declaration covers 8,884 km 2 (381 OCS blocks) in the Mississippi Canyon and Viosca Knoll protraction areas of the Central Gulf of Mexico and was acquired orthogonal to TGS’ underlying Justice WAZ 3D survey. With offsets to 16 km, this data was acquired by CGG with a single pass vessel configuration derived from its StagSeis TM technology to better image deep structural elements and to improve subsalt and salt flank illumination, which establishes new data standards in the region. Data is being integrated with TGS’ existing Justice WAZ data to provide orthogonal wide-azimuth (M-WAZ) coverage. In keeping with TGS’ mandate to provide technical leadership through its data offerings, the data will be processed using the latest TGS imaging technology including Clari-Fi and Orthorhombic migrations. Project Objective TGS is pleased to offer Declaration, an industry leading data-set that: 1. Evaluates Miocene through Jurassic opportunities 2. Images the Cretaceous shelf margin and identifies new sediment transportations sources 3. Improved salt and subsalt imaging, and 4. Delivers a new multi-purpose data volume with improved temporal and spatial resolution of structural/salt and stratigraphic features

Declaration M-WAZ 3DMULTI-CLIENT 3D SEISMIC SURVEY

Project Summary

Declaration covers 8,884 km2 (381 OCS blocks) in the Mississippi Canyon and Viosca Knoll protraction areas of the Central Gulf of Mexico and was acquired orthogonal to TGS’ underlying Justice WAZ 3D survey. With offsets to 16 km, this data was acquired by CGG with a single pass vessel configuration derived from its StagSeisTM technology to better image deep structural elements and to improve subsalt and salt flank illumination, which establishes new data standards in the region.

Project Objective

TGS is pleased to offer Declaration, an industry leading data-set that:

1. Evaluates Miocene through Jurassic opportunities

2. Images the Cretaceous shelf margin and identifies new sediment transportations sources

3. Improved salt and subsalt imaging, and

4. Delivers a new multi-purpose data volume with improved temporal and spatial resolution of structural/salt and stratigraphic features

The Benefits of Declaration

1. Long offset data images deep pre-salt horizons

2. Full azimuth data - different azimuths illuminate different targets.

3. Proven advantage imaging complex geology and pre-salt plays

4. TGS specialized processing techniques capitalizes on the value of longer offsets and additional azimuths including: a. Improved De-noise sequences. b. Clari-Fi broadband processing. c. Orthorhombic migration. d. Multi-azimuth and image guided tomography. e. DIS multi-azimuth RTM stack volumes. f. Common offset RTM (COR) gathers.

5. Declaration will be merged with Justice WAZ data to provide a FAZ solution

6. Declaration M-WAZ includes: Declaration-only, Justice-only and Declaration + Justice (M-WAZ) products.

7. Declaration also provides new multi-client data-set with long offset WAZ data in shallow areas where only short offset WAZ data existed previously (Viosca Knoll).

Technology Driven Solutions

TGS develops seismic programs that meet industry demands for both today and tomorrow. Prior to Declaration being acquired, TGS conducted an illumination study on the complex Kepler salt

of the Mississippi Canyon to optimize the acquisiton and processing parameters. The illumination study included

1. 2D finite difference modeling of various cable lengths

2. 3D ray based illumination study with unrestricted offsets and azimuths

The study was used to understand the following components of the Declaration survey:

1. Azimuth

2. Offset

3. Record length

4. Amplitude

5. Aperture

The conclusion and recommendation from the Kepler study was to acquire Declaration using long offset and multi-azimuth data in the area. With its long offsets at the 16 km and wide azimuth acquisition parameters, Declaration images do confirm that the recommendation of the study helped TGS achieve optimal illumination of the complex salt bodies in this highly renown and successful part of the world.
