BY THE NUMBERS
» It’s been six full seasons since Tennessee has been to the NCAA Final Four, and the last time the Lady Vols went it was held in the same location, Tampa, Fla.
11.8» Jordan Reynolds had 12 points vs. Gonzaga and has averaged 11.8 points over her last fi ve games, which is a bump from her season average of 7.2 ppg.
30» Holly Warlick won 30 games in a season for the fi rst time as head coach and Tennessee reached that tally for the fi rst time since going 34-3 in 2010-11.
6
The Terps have won 27 straight games since falling at (then) #1 Notre Dame, 92-72, on Dec. 3.
LADY VOLS IN 27TH ELITE EIGHT Tennessee has advanced to its 27th Elite
Eight after seeing its season ended in the Sweet 16 by Maryland last year. The Lady Vols own an 18-8 record in the
Elite Eight, with an 11-7 mark in neutral site games. UT also is 6-0 at home and 1-1 on the
road in Elite Eight contests. Tennessee is 0-3 in its last three Elite
Eight contests, dropping an 86-78 decision to Louisville in Oklahoma City in its last at-tempt on April 2, 2013. UT also lost Elite Eight games to Baylor
in Des Moines in 2012 and to Notre Dame in Dayton in 2011. The last time Tennessee won an Elite
Eight game, that victory over Texas A&M in Oklahoma City punched the squad’s ticket to Tampa for the 2008 NCAA Final Four. Candace Parker and company went on
to win the title that season, marking Ten-nessee’s second straight and eighth overall NCAA crown. This marks the second time in her three
years that head coach Holly Warlick has guided Tennessee to the Elite Eight. She also did so in 2013 before her team fell to Louis-ville in Oklahoma City.
WHAT’S AT STAKE MONDAY NIGHT Tennessee will try to earn its fi rst trip to
the NCAA Final Four since 2008 and its 19th overall appearance. That’s a six-year absence from the
game’s biggest stage that the Lady Vols will be attempting to end. Holly Warlick will try to make her fi rst ap-
pearance as a head coach at the Final Four. Warlick was an assistant coach on all
eight of Tennessee’s title teams, has gone to the Final Four 16 times as part of the staff
and went to three AIAW Final Fours as a three-time All-America player.
MOST TOURN. WINS IN M/W HISTORY Tennessee not only has the most wins in
the history of the NCAA Division I women’s basketball tournament, it is tied for most in either men’s or women’s basketball. After Saturday night, Tennessee’s women
and Kentucky’s men each have 120 NCAA tourney victories to their credit.
UT’S NCAA TOURNEY HISTORY The Lady Vols are making their 34th ap-
pearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, and UT is the only program to appear in all 34 tournaments. Tennessee was an at-large qualifi er for
the tourney fi eld, fi nishing as runner-up in the 2015 Southeastern Conference Tourna-ment and tying for the regular-season title with South Carolina. This marks the seventh time overall and
the third time in four years that the Lady Vols have been a No. 2 seed. UT has gone to an NCAA Final Four on
three occasion as a No. 2 seed, most recently in 2002, and the Big Orange won their fi rst of eight NCAA titles as a No. 2 seed in 1987. Tennessee has been either the top or No.
2 seed six-straight years and in 16 of the past 17 NCAA tournaments. The Lady Vols are 120-25 all-time in
NCAA tournament play, and they rank fi rst in games played (145) and victories (120) in NCAA tourney history. To put UT’s NCAA record in perspective,
entering this year’s event, the Big Ten was 160-138, the Pac-12 was 160-109 and the Big 12 was 159-109 all-time in tourney play. UT has advanced to 18 NCAA Final Fours
and won eight of them (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008). Tennessee has fi nished second in the na-
tion fi ve times and third on fi ve more occa-sions.
The Lady Vols have seen their season ended in the regional championship game in three of the past four years but in the Sweet 16 last season.

TENNESSEE VS. THE NCAA FIELD Tennessee has played 17 opponents and
20 games against 2015 NCAA Tournament qualifi ers this season, posting a 15-5 record through the Sweet 16. The Lady Vols beat Arkansas, Boise
State, Gonzaga, Kentucky (three times), LSU, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Stanford, Tennessee State, Texas A&M and Wichita State. UT lost to Chattanooga, #6/7 Notre
Dame, #3/4 South Carolina (twice) and #6/9 Texas, all away from Knoxville. Seven teams from the SEC (Arkansas,
Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Car-olina, Tennessee and Texas A&M) made the NCAA tourney, tying the league for second with the Big Ten behind the ACC (8) for most schools representing a conference in this year’s tourney.
UT’S FIRST NCAA OT GAME SINCE ‘96 Tennessee is 5-1 in overtime games dur-
ing the NCAA Tournament, including 1-0 at home and 4-1 at neutral sites. The Lady Vols played their fi rst OT NCAA
game since 1996 on Saturday night, holding off Gonzaga in an extra frame, 73-69. The last NCAA OT contest UT played was
on March 29, 1996, when the Lady Vols beat UConn, 88-83, in an NCAA Final Four semi-fi nal game in Charlotte, N.C., en route to the NCAA title that season. UT hadn't played an overtime game this
season or last until Saturday night. With a 2-0 mark in a pair of OT games
in 2012-13, Holly Warlick improved to 3-0 in extra-frame games. The overtime game by Tennessee was its
46th all time, and the Lady Vols now have a 30-16 record in those contests, including 11-4 at neutral sites.
UT’S BIGGEST NCAA COMEBACK Tennessee’s 17-point comeback over
Gonzaga in the regional semifi nal game tied as the largest the program has ever had dur-ing an NCAA tournament game. It matched the same defi cit UT had vs.
Virginia in Charlotteville in the 1996 regional fi nal before the Lady Vols bounced back to win, 52-46, on March 25. That victory sent Tennessee to the Final
Four in Charlotte, N.C., where UT would beat UConn in overtime, 88-83, and then Georgia, 83-65, en route to NCAA title number four. UT came from 14-down to beat Kansas in

a close with a 73-62 loss to fourth-seeded Maryland on March 30, 2014, in the Sweet 16 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. The Lady Vols fi nished 2013-14 with a
29-6 record. Maryland (27-6) advanced to the Elite Eight. UT senior Meighan Simmons tallied 31

reer-high 33 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Terps. Lexie Brown added 14 while Laurin Mincy had 11 points. Tennessee played from behind for virtu-
ally the entire afternoon. Aside from a 3-2 lead less than a minute into the game, the Lady Vols trailed the rest of the way.
MARYLAND’S LAST GAME Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 18 of
her 24 points in the second half, Laurin Mincy scored all 15 of her points in the fi rst half and top-seeded Maryland advanced to the Spo-kane Regional fi nal with a 65-55 victory over No. 4 seed Duke on Saturday. Walker-Kimbrough took over the scor-
ing load carried by Mincy in the fi rst half as the Terrapins (33-2) reached the Elite Eight for the sixth time under coach Brenda Frese, taking down their former foe from the ACC in the process. Maryland is 2-0 against the Blue Devils in the NCAA Tournament. Elizabeth Williams led Duke (23-11) with
18 points and nine rebounds. In the fi rst half, the Terrapins’ off ense
was mostly Mincy fi nding holes in Duke’s zone defense and hitting 3s from the perim-eter. Mincy scored 12 of Maryland’s fi rst 24 points, all on 3-pointers, but she deferred to Walker-Kimbrough in the fi nal 20 minutes as the sophomore got hot. Walker-Kimbrough made 8 of 11 shots in the second half and just missed topping her previous career high of 25 earlier this season against South Florida. Brionna Jones added 10 points and 10
the 2012 regional semifi nal in Des Moines in Pat Summitt’s fi nal year as head coach. The program’s all-time greatest come-
back occurred during the regular season on Jan. 3, 2009, when Tennessee trailed Rutgers by 23 and was down 20 at the half before winning 55-51 in Piscataway, N.J. The previous best comeback this sea-
son had been nine, with UT trailing Arkan-sas by that margin twice before prevailing.
PLAYING FROM BEHIND Tennessee has trailed in 26 of its 35
games this season. The Lady Vols have been down at the
half on 10 occasions and were tied Satur-day night at the break for the second time this season. Tennessee didn’t take the lead for good
until 3:12 remained in overtime, marking the latest UT has seized control of a game for good this season. The previous best was when UT over-
took Kentucky with 3:47 left in regulation in Lexington on Jan. 29.
UT, WARLICK CARD 30 WINS Tennessee, 30-5 on the year, earned its
NCAA-record 21st overall 30-win season and fi rst since 2010-11 (34-3). Holly Warlick registered her fi rst sea-
son as a 30-game winner, defeating Gon-zaga to do so. Warlick is now 86-19 in her third year
with records of 27-8, 29-6 and now 30-5.
A LOOK AT THE MARYLAND SERIES This will be the 15th meeting between
Tennessee and Maryland, with these schools facing off in back-to-back post-seasons after they had gone seven years without playing one another. This also marks the second time Ten-
nessee and Maryland have met in the state of Washington, with #1/1 UT topping #5/3 Maryland, 77-65, in an NCAA Final Four semifinal game in Tacoma, Wash., on March 31, 1989. The Lady Vols went on to defeat Auburn in the title game to claim their second national championship. UT and UM met in Louisville last season
on March 30 in the NCAA Regional semifi -nal, with the Terps taking a 73-62 decision behind 33 points and 13 rebounds from se-nior Alyssa Thomas.
Prior to that meeting, the Terps and Lady Vols last played on Nov. 26, 2005, with (then) #2/1 UT claiming an 80-75 vic-tory over #10/10 Maryland at the Paradise Jam tournament in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. UM leads 3-2 in games played at neutral
sites, with the Lady Vols winning two of the last three (2005, 1989). UT is 3-2 in postseason action, going 2-1
vs. Maryland in the AIAW Tournament and 1-1 in the NCAA Tournament. UT beat the Terps twice (1980, 1981) to
advance to the AIAW Final Four. Lady Vol coach Holly Warlick played all
40 minutes in the 1980 game, tallying 18 points, fi ve assists, fi ve steals, fi ve rebounds and three blocked shots in the 93-76 win. Warlick was on the losing end twice vs.
Maryland on 3/17/1978 and 12/29/78. As an assistant UT, Warlick had a 6-1 re-
cord vs. Maryland, including that 1989 win.

ABOUT THE TERRAPINS Maryland earned a No. 1 seed for the
fourth time in school history and third occa-sion under head coach Brenda Frese. The Terps went 18-0 to win the Big Ten
title in their fi rst season as a member. Lexie Brown, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough,
Laurin Mincy and Brionna Jones were all named to the All-Big Ten squad. UM will go for its 28th-straight win when
it takes on Tennessee. Maryland will take aim at its fi fth Final
Four berth, having previously gone in 1982, 1989, 2006 and 2014 with an NCAA title coming in its third trip. The Terrapins’ Lexie Brown (Suwanee,

TENNESSEE’S LAST GAME For the 27th time Tennessee is headed
back to the Elite Eight. The second-seeded Lady Vols had an epic rally to defeat upstart #11 seed Gonzaga, playing about a mile from its campus, 73-69 in overtime, at the Spo-kane Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday. The Lady Vols rallied from down by as
many as 17 points with 6:34 left in the second half to come away with their fi rst overtime win in NCAA Tournament play since the 1996 Final Four. It equalled the largest NCAA Tournament
comeback in Lady Vols history. Tennessee rallied for a 52-46 win over Virginia in the 1996 Elite Eight to reach the Final Four on the way to the Lady Vols’ fourth national title. Senior Cierra Burdick played a massive
role in the comeback, as she had 15 of her team-high 22 points in the second half and overtime. Burdick grabbed 15 rebounds to lead all players. Classmate Ariel Massengale tallied 16 points and Jaime Nared added 12. Gonzaga (26-8) was led by Sunny Grei-
nacher (24 points) and Keani Albanez (20). Greinacher added 11 rebounds. After Tennessee went on a 23-6 run and
rallied from down 17 with less than seven minutes to go in regulation, the Lady Vols and Zags went to overtime tied at 63. Burdick made all four of her free throw attempts to break a 67 all tie in the fi nal minutes. That put Tennessee ahead 71-67 with 17 second left. The Lady Vols were nearly perfect from
the free throw line, going 21-of-22 from the line in the game for 95.5 percent. Reynolds sealed the win, making two
free throws with 3.7 seconds left as the Lady Vols were a perfect 10-of-10 in overtime. Ten-nessee didn’t make a fi eld goal in the extra period.
THIS SENIOR CLASS NOT DONE YET With their classmate Isabelle Harrison
out with a season-ending knee injury, Cierra Burdick and Ariel Massengale are doing their best to get Tennessee back to the Final Four. Along with junior Bashaara Graves (17.3
ppg., 8.7 rpg.), Massengale (16.3 ppg.) and Burdick (12.0 ppg., 12.0 rpg.) are setting the tone for their team in the NCAA Tournament. Burdick notched her ninth double-double
this season and 21st for her career, with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Massengale added 15 points of her own, fueling UT to a come-from-behind win vs. Gonzaga. Burdick had 15 of her points in the sec-
ond half and knocked down eight of eight free throws in the contest. UT’s seniors have a career record of 113-28
overall and 54-10 in SEC regular season play. Burdick, Harrison and Massengale have a
11-3 mark in NCAA play, including 8-0 in the opening two rounds. UT has made it to the Elite Eight three
times (2012, 2013, 2015) and has one Sweet 16 fi nish (2014) with this senior class, along with two SEC regular season titles (2013, 2015) and two SEC tournament titles (2012, 2014). The unit is seeking its fi rst Final Four.
ROOKIES RISE TO THE OCCASION A pair of freshmen played key roles in
Tennessee’s win over Gonzaga. Jaime Nared’s 12 points and six rebounds
LADY VOL DOUBLE DOUBLESwas perfect on both free throw tries in the overtime period, as UT went 10-of-10 from the line to seal the win. Alexa Middleton scored fi ve points, but
her scoring came at key points in the fi rst half, and she played harrassing defense on the pe-rimeter during her 16 minutes of duty. The duo combined for 17 points and
helped Tennessee get the score tied at the half with a combined 12 fi rst-half points. The double-fi gure scoring eff ort by Na-
red was her ninth this season, as the rookie has been a bigger factor for her team after making several big plays in a road victory at Kentucky on Jan. 29. After that game, Holly Warlick told Nared there was no going back and she must fi nd ways to bring something to the table in each contest thereafter.
INSIDE-FIRST TEAM GOES DEEP Tennessee went 6-for-19 from the three-
point arc vs. Gonzaga, holding the team known for hitting three-balls to 4-of-9. It was the 12th time this season the Lady
Vols have hit six or more treys in a game. Ariel Massengale was 3-of-8 and hit hers
at key times to lift her team. Massengale now has 72 three-pointers
this season, tying her for seventh on UT’s single season list with Meighan Simmons, who had hit that total last season. Massengale ranks No. 6 on the Lady Vol
career list with 162 three-pointers and is one shy of Shekinna Stricklen (163) in fi fth. Jordan Reynolds, Alexa Middleton and
Jaime Nared also connected from long range vs. Gonzaga.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE Cierra Burdick recorded her ninth double-
double of the season and 21st of her career. She has the sixth-best total for a UT se-
nior, pulling even with Chamique Holdsclaw. Burdick’s career total ties her with
Bridgette Gordon and teammate Bashaara Graves for 12th all-time at Tennessee. Isabelle Harrison is sixth with 31.
FREE THROW PROFICIENCY Tennessee has shot the ball well from the
free throw line all season long. In the win over Gonzaga, Tennessee was
10-of-10 in the overtime period, the only points it scored, and fi nished 21-of-22 for the game for 95.5%. Jordan Reynolds (4-4), Cierra Burdick
(4-4) and Jaime Nared (2-2) were perfect in OT. That was the fi fth time this season UT
shot 90% or better in a game and the sixth time the Lady Vols hit 20 or more free throws in a contest. UT set a school record and tied an SEC
mark earlier this season by hitting 18-of-18 free throws vs. Alabama on Feb. 19. Against Pitt in the NCAA Second Round,
with the Panthers trying to rally by fouling and sending UT to the free throw line, the Lady Vols sank 9-of-11 to seal the deal. Tennessee is 128-of-157 (.815) hitting free
throws in the fi nal four minutes of contests this season. The Lady Vols are shooting 75.4% from
the free throw line this season, which ranks No. 2 in school history. Warlick’s fi rst team in 2012-13 owns the record at 75.9%.

Bashaara Graves, Cierra Burdick, Ariel Mas-sengale, Andraya Carter and Jordan Reyn-olds will most likely make its fourth postsea-son start together on Monday. That unit is 7-2 this season. Those fi ve starters, though, have played
a combined 47 NCAA Tournament games between them and made 32 starts. Off the bench, Nia Moore has played
nine NCAA games during her career, all in reserve, while freshmen Jaime Nared and Alexa Middleton made their debuts vs. Boise State and also played vs. Pitt and Gonzaga. For a complete look at player stats in the

into NCAA play as head coach, but certainly she is no stranger to the tournament. Warlick led UT to the Elite 8 in 2012-13
and 2014-15 and to the Sweet 16 in 2013-14. She has been on UT’s staff since 1985-86,
helping the Lady Vols to a 110-21 postsea-son record during that time, including 8-2 as head coach. During that stint, she has been a part of
all eight NCAA Championships, 16 NCAA Fi-nal Fours and 30 NCAA Tournament berths. As an assistant, Warlick handled a larger
role in the 2012 NCAA Tournament with Pat Summitt delegating some responsibilities after she was diagnosed with early-onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type. As a player for Summitt from 1977-80,
Warlick participated in the forerunner to the NCAA, the AIAW, and helped UT to a runner-up appearance as a senior in 1980 and third-place fi nishes in 1977 and 1979.
TENNESSEE 9-4 VS. RANKED TEAMS Tennessee is 9-4 vs. ranked teams this
season, including 5-4 vs. top 10 squads, taking down #7/7 Stanford, #10/12 Oregon State, #9/8 Texas A&M, #22/19 Georgia, #18/18 Mississippi State and #10/10 Ken-tucky at home; #17/19 Rutgers and #10/10 Kentucky on the road; and #12/11 Kentucky at a neutral site. UT lost at #6/9 Texas, #6/7 Notre Dame and #2/2 South Carolina, and to #3/4 South Carolina at a neutral site.

IMPRESSIVE WON-LOST RECORDS UT’s program has an all-time record of
1,277-284 in its 70th season. Tennessee won 20 straight games vs.
SEC opponents, including 13 this season, be-fore dropping a decision at USC on Feb. 23. Holly Warlick is 86-19 overall as head
coach, including 49-5 in Knoxville and 37-14 away from home during her third season. Warlick is 917-141 in 30 years as a mem-
ber of the UT coaching staff .
Under Warlick’s watch, UT is 8-2 in the NCAA Tournament, including 6-0 in the opening two rounds.
MAKING DEFENSE A PRIORITY Holly Warlick wants her teams to em-
brace playing defense with great passion, energy and eff ort, and it appears the 2014-15 Lady Vols have bought in since losing back-to-back games vs. Chattanooga and Texas. Tennessee ranks No. 4 in the SEC and
No. 23 nationally in scoring defense, allowing 56.3 points per contest. This against one of the strongest schedules in the nation and in the best league in the country. Tennessee has held 23 of 35 foes this
season under 60 points in a contest, includ-ing 13 of 16 SEC regular season games and one SEC tourney game. UT has held 11 teams under 50 points. During Tennessee’s 11-game winning
streak from Dec. 3 to Jan. 15, the Lady Vols allowed only 49.7 points per contest and 33.5 fi eld goal pct. by their opponents. In 35 games, Tennessee has allowed only
18 teams to score more than 53 points, in-cluding Chattanooga (L, 67-63), #6/9 Texas (L, 72-59), #10/12 Oregon State (W, 74-63), #9/8 Texas A&M (W, 81-58), #6/7 Notre Dame (L, 78-88), LSU (W, 75-58), #10/10 Kentucky (W, 73-72), #18/18 Mississippi State (W, 79-67), Florida (W, 64-56), #10/10 Ken-tucky (W, 72-58), Alabama (W, 77-56), #2/2 South Carolina (L, 66-71), Georgia (W, 70-59), #12/11 Kentucky (W, 75-64), #3/4 South Carolina (L, 46-62), Boise State (W, 72-61), Pitt (W, 77-67) and Gonzaga (W, 73-69). Only nine foes have scored more than
64 vs. UT this season (Chatt., Texas, N.D., Ky., Miss. State, S.C., Ky., Pitt, Gonz.). The Lady Vols held Vanderbilt to 49
points on Jan. 5, marking the lowest point total the Commodores have scored at home in the 73-game series since 27 points in 1976. UT also held Vandy to 49 points in
Knoxville on March 1, which was the lowest the Commodores had ever scored in a road game in the series. UT limited #7/7 Stanford to 40 points in
the Lady Vols’ 59-40 win in Knoxville to stop a three-game losing skid to the Cardinal. The Lady Vols held Georgia to 41 points in
the SEC Tournament, the lowest UT has ever allowed in tourney play and tied for second lowest by UGA in the series vs. Tennessee.
LEADS, DEFICITS, COMEBACKS Tennessee has nine wire-to-wire wins
(ORU, SFU, Stanford, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Bama, Vandy, Pitt) and has trailed in 26 of its 35 games this season. Tennessee trailed in 11 of 16 SEC regular
season games (MU-7, @VU-1, @ARK-9, @AU-3, UGA-8, @UK-6, MSU-3, @UF-5, UK-3, USC-11, @UGA-5) this season, winning all but the USC game. UT has led at halftime 23 times with its
largest margin being 32 (53-21) over SFU and the least being one vs. Oregon State (35-34). Tennessee has been tied twice at the
break, matching #10/10 Kentucky at the half in Knoxville (31-31) on Feb. 12 and locking horns with Gonzaga in the NCAA Sweet 16 on March 28 in Spokane, Washington. The Lady Vols have trailed at the half 10
times (UTC-16, Tex.-10, Rut.-3, Miz.-4 Ark.-3, N.D.-3, Ky.-6, Fla.-2, USC-3, USC-3), with the largest halftime defi cit being 16 vs. UTC. UT is 5-5 when trailing at the break, having lost to UTC, Tex., N.D., USC and USC.

UT’s largest fi rst-half defi cit of the year was 17 vs. Chattanooga, and the Lady Vols erased that entire defi cit (4:31/2nd/57-all) and tied it three times before falling 63-67. UT has trailed in the second half in 13
games this season (UTC-16, Tex.-15, Rut.-4, OSU-3, Miz.-4, Ark.-9, N.D.-14, Ga.-5, Ky.-6, Fla.-5, USC-11, USC-18, GON-17), including seven SEC regular season games. The largest second-half defi cit was 18 to
South Carolina in the SEC Tournament Cham-pionship game. The Lady Vols lost, 62-46. Tennessee’s biggest come-from-behind
win this season came vs. Gonzaga, where the Lady Vols were down by 17 with 6:34 remain-ing in the game. The latest in a game this season UT has
taken the lead for good was 1:38 remaining in overtime vs. Gonzaga. The biggest defi cit (23) and halftime
defi cit (20) ever overcome for a victory by UT were vs. Rutgers (55-51) on Jan. 3, 2009. The biggest defi cits overcome for wins
during the Warlick era were 17 in the second half vs. Gonzaga in the NCAA regional semi-fi nal and 15 in the fi rst half vs. both Alabama (Feb. 2, 2014) and LSU (March 7, 2014). The biggest halftime defi cit overcome
(12) during the Warlick era was against Mid-dle Tennessee on Nov. 8, 2013. The largest second-half defi cit overcome
with Warlick as coach was vs. Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash., on March 28, 2015, with UT trailing by 17, 57-40, with 6:34 remaining. The largest positive turnaround (31
points) of the Warlick era occured when Ala-bama led Tennessee by 15 in the fi rst half and then trailed UT by as many as 16 in the sec-ond half en route to a 10-point UT win. The largest negative turnaround game
under Warlick occurred vs. #2/2 Notre Dame on Jan. 20, 2014 (29), when UT led by 12 in the fi rst half and trailed by as many as 17 in the second half on its way to a 16-point loss. Tennessee’s largest margin of victory un-
der Holly Warlick was 68 (11 0-42) vs. Lip-scomb on Dec. 29, 2013. UT’s highest point total scored was 111
vs. Saint Francis on Dec. 3, 2014, and that 67-point margin of victory is second most. Tennessee’s largest margin of defeat
during the Warlick era was 23 at #3/3 Bay-lor (53-76) on Dec. 18, 2012. That game also produced the worst halftime defi cit in school history (25) and the lowest point total under Warlick (53).
BUILT IN THE USA Tennessee has more players (seven) with
USA Basketball experience than any other team in the Sweet 16. The Lady Vols feature USA Basketball
veterans Cierra Burdick, Andraya Carter, Diamond DeShields, Bashaara Graves, Ariel Massengale, Mercedes Russell and Jannah Tucker. DeShields, Russell & Tucker aren’t active.

tory in 1977. She had no trouble adjusting her enthusiasm and knowledge of the game into the coaching role. In 19 of the past 33 years Warlick has been affi liated with UT, she has found herself at the Final Four as a player (1977, 1979, 1980) or as a coach (1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008). Her best Final Four showing as a player was national championship runner-up in her senior season. As a coach, she has helped the Lady Vols win all eight times (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007 and 2008). A three-time All-American while playing for Summitt from 1976-80, Warlick previously held UT records for most assists in a game (14), most steals in a contest (nine), most assists in a season (225) and most games in a career (142). She continues to hold the Lady Vol single-season steals record with 141 in 1978-79. Warlick possesses vast international experience as well. A member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic basketball team, Warlick also participated in the Jones C up, Pan American Games and World Championship competition. In addition, she was a WPBL All-Star, leading the Nebraska Wranglers to the championship of the Women’s Professional Basket-ball League in 1981. She has served as a player representa-tive on the USA BASKETBALL council and was a member of the USOC Advisory Council for Basketball. In recognition of being a former Olympian, Warlick earned the distinct honor of running the Olympic torch through Knoxville as it made its way to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. Prior to joining the Tennessee staff for the 1985-86 season, Warlick gained experience at two other stops on the coaching circuit. She was an assistant at Virginia Tech from 1981-83 and an assistant from 1983-85 at Nebraska. A native of Knoxville, Warlick earned her B.S. in mar-keting from Tennessee in 1981 and her master’s degree in athletic administration from Virginia Tech in 1983. Warlick added “biker” to her vitae in 2001. To commemorate her induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, a number of Warlick’s friends got together and presented her with a Harley-Davidson “Sportster” motorcycle. Just six years later, Warlick already was using her love of the bike towards a greater cause, establishing the Champions For A Cause Foundation with Caldwell.
WARLICK’S CAREER
HEAD COACH HOLLY WARLICK

University of Tennessee (1976-80): three-time All-American, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, 1980 Olympic Team, fi rst player at UT to have her jersey (#22) retired
For more than three decades, Holly Warlick has been instrumental in the phenomenal success story that is Ten-nessee Lady Vols basketball. Her impact on the program stretches from her ground-breaking days as a three-time All-America point guard at UT (1976-80), to her 27 highly-productive years as a loyal assistant for Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt, to her ascension to the head coaching posi-tion at UT. Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Dave Hart named Warlick head coach of the Lady Vols on April 18, 2012, as Summitt stepped into the role of head coach emeritus. In a touching and symbolic gesture the following day at a press conference announcing the changes, Sum-mitt presented her coaching whistle to her long-time aide and former fl oor general. Warlick proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was up to the task with her debut eff ort in 2012-13. Despite having a young, inexperienced team that was picked to fi nish as low as fi fth in the SEC and 20th nationally, the fi rst-year head coach impressively directed her troops to a 27-8 overall record and a 14-2 mark in league play. That ef-fort earned Tennessee its 17th all-time SEC regular season title, and it enabled a team that saw injuries force players to miss a combined total of 53 games to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight for the 26th time in school history. Improvement demonstrated by players not only translated into wins on the court, it also resulted in post-season attention. Meighan Simmons was named a third-team AP All-American, SEC Co-Player of the Year and fi rst-team All-SEC. Bashaara Graves was chosen a Full Court Freshman All-American, SEC Freshman of the Year and fi rst-team All-SEC. Kamiko Williams, meanwhile, was taken in the second round of the WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty. Warlick also was singled out for her performance, which included scoring a top-three recruiting class com-plete with the nation’s No. 1-ranked player in 6-foot-6 Mer-cedes Russell. The members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association named her the Spalding Maggie Dix-on Division I Rookie Coach of the Year. She was selected by AP and league coaches as the SEC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year, and members of the Tennessee Sports Writers Association also chose her as TSWA Women’s Bas-ketball Coach of the Year. In year two, Warlick directed the team to a 29-6 re-cord and the program’s second SEC trophy in as many years with the capturing of the 2014 SEC Tournament. Among her top players were AP SEC Player of the Year Meighan Simmons, who was a third-round WNBA Draft pick of the New York Liberty, and Isabelle Harrison, a fi rst-team All-SEC choice and the SEC tourney’s MVP. Warlick and her staff also continued building for the future, landing the nation’s number six signing class in 2014. Anchoring that group are McDonald’s All-Americans Jaime Nared and Alexa Middleton, the nation’s No. 6 and No. 28 ranked players. After Warlick helped shape the direction of Lady Vol basketball as an assistant on Summitt’s staff for more than a quarter of a century, the pupil took on greater responsi-bility and oversaw daily supervision of the basketball of-fi ce during the 2011-12 season. She also handled a large measure of the media obligations after Summitt’s Aug.
23, 2011, announcement regarding the diagnosis of early-onset dementia, “Alzheimer’s type.” Providing an excellent example of how people rally around each other, the Tennessee staff members pulled together remarkably in the face of that adversity. The end result was a 27-9 overall record, a league-best 16th SEC Tournament Championship and advancement to the NCAA Regional Final. It’s worth noting that Warlick was by Summitt’s side, either as a player or an assistant, for 949 of the coach’s NCAA-record 1,098 wins and all eight NCAA National Championships. Her value to the program has been evi-dent for some time, as she had held the role of associate head coach since the 2005-06 campaign. The WBCA also had recognized Warlick’s contribu-tions to Tennessee’s success through the years, naming Warlick the nation’s top assistant coach after she helped lead UT to its seventh national title in 2007. The NCAA Division I women’s basketball coaches also recognized Warlick as one of the nation’s top assistants in 1998, rank-ing her prominently in The Women’s Basketball Journal poll. In addition to the NCAA title and coaching honor in 2007, Warlick also teamed up for the fi rst time with former fellow Lady Vol player and assistant Nikki Caldwell, the current head coach at LSU, to pursue her other passion. That pursuit is riding a motorcycle and raising money for the fi ght against breast cancer. Warlick and Caldwell created the Champions For A Cause Foundation, a long haul motorcycle ride dedicated to raising funds and awareness for a cure for breast cancer. The charitable organization has raised and donated more than $150,000. Past trips include the inaugural ride from San Francisco to Knoxville as well as trips from the Bad-lands to Las Vegas and from Knoxville to Key West, Fla., New Orleans, Niagara Falls and, most recently in 2013 and 2014, Panama City, Fla. With all of her accomplishments in coaching and in her charitable endeavors it might be easy to overlook the fact that Warlick left just as powerful a mark on women’s hoops as a player at UT. It doesn’t seem that long ago that the charismatic Knoxville native was fl ying up and down the court as an All-America Lady Vol point guard. For more than three decades, Warlick has been con-sidered the fi nest point guard ever to play for the Lady Vols. In addition to being selected to the CONVERSE/Lady Vol Team of the Decade for the 1980s in January of 1994, fi ve diff erent halls of fame opened their doors to her. On Feb. 27, 2004, she was inducted into the Tennes-see Sports Hall of Fame. In October 2002, she became a member of the University of Tennessee Lady Vol Hall of Fame in the second class of inductees. In June 2001, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame selected Warlick as one of 10 inductees enshrined into the Hall for the Class of 2001. For the hometown girl, who grew up in the Rocky Hill section of Knoxville and graduated from Bearden High School, it was a dream-come-true. In the summer of 1994, Warlick gained admission to her fi rst hall of fame. She was honored as one of the City of Knoxville’s fi nest all-time athletes with her inclusion in the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame. Including the 2013-14 season, Warlick has invested 33 years in the program, having helped shape UT into a national powerhouse with tenure as both a player and a coach. Warlick’s expertise and major contributions to the team as an assistant came from her work with the guards. In 2010-11, Simmons was the SEC Rookie of the Year, and guard Shekinna Stricklen was the 20th Lady Vol named to the WBCA/State Farm All-America Team. Additionally, Warlick has been a highly-successful re-cruiter for the backcourt, attracting some of the nation’s fi nest players to UT to continue the excellence she helped establish as a player. The Lady Vols welcomed another top fl ight guard to the Orange and White for 2010-11 when she landed McDonald’s All-American Ariel Massengale. As a rookie in 2011-12, Massengale lived up to her billing, earning Full Court Freshman All-America and SEC All-Freshman Team honors. The point guard posted a UT freshman record of 162 assists, ranking second in the SEC in that category, and leading the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.1. Warlick’s tutelage also helped to strengthen the game of four-time All-SEC selection Angie Bjorklund, Kodak All-American and four-time Lady Vol All-SEC performer Kara Lawson and three-time All-SEC selection Shanna Zolman. That trio accounts for the school records for most of UT’s three-point marks. Warlick’s association with the Lady Vols started in 1976 when she joined the program as a scholarship 400-meter track athlete who ended up walking on to the basketball team. Soon, she would become the most pro-lifi c player in the history of Tennessee Lady Vol basketball. Warlick was the fi rst player in Tennessee athletics (men or women) to have her jersey retired (number 22) at the end of her career in 1980. Bearden, her prep alma ma-ter in Knoxville, retired Warlick’s high school jersey (also No. 22) prior to a home football game on Oct. 26, 2012. Known as a play-making wiz during her four years as UT’s point guard, Warlick was once tabbed the “best player in the South.” As a rookie, Warlick helped lead the Lady Vols to their fi rst Final Four appearance in school his-
