entering at Gate B prior to each session will receive free admission. All parking near the arena is fi rst-come,
fi rst-served at $10 per vehicle. There also is free parking available on the UT Agriculture Campus. The shuttle will run starting two hours before tip for the second round game and then afterward. Arena doors open one hour prior to tip
on game days, and fans are reminded that there are no parking permits for NCAA events. Arena Dining will be closed to the pub-
lic during the tournament, and there will be no public interviews for the Lady Vol Radio Network postgame show during NCAA play.
SATURDAY’S HEADLINERS Junior Bashaara Graves recorded a ca-
reer-high 24 points vs. Boise State Saturday afternoon on 9-of-11 shooting from the fi eld and 6-of-8 accuracy from the free throw line in Tennessee’s 72-61 win. Graves, known as Bash to her teammates
and Beast to UT fans, had scored 14 points total in the Lady Vols’ three NCAA games a year ago. It was the third 20-point eff ort of the
season for Graves (23 at Notre Dame, 22 at South Carolina) and seventh of her career. Ariel Massengale checked in with her
personal NCAA-high scoring total of 18, con-necting on three treys.
Massengale went 1-of-11 from the three-point arc in her last three games before hit-ting 3-of-9 vs. Boise State. With one more three-pointer, Massengale
will move into UT’s single-season top 10 for most treys made. The senior guard has connected on three
or more three-pointers on 10 occasions this season. The point totals by Graves and Massen-
gale were the fi rst time either had been in double fi gures since the SEC quarterfi nal game vs. Georgia on March 6 when they had 13 and 10, respectively.
OWNING THE GLASS Tennessee collected 40 or more rebounds
for the third time in four games, out-working BSU on the glass, 46-28. That margin of +18 was the Lady Vols’
fi fth largest all season long. Two players, Cierra Burdick with a per-
sonal NCAA high of 11, and Jaime Nared, with a career-best 10, posted double-fi gure re-bounding numbers. Guards Ariel Massengale (5), Jordan
Reynolds (5) and Andraya Carter (4) com-bined for 14 rebounds. The 18 off ensive rebounds lassoed by
Tennessee marked the highest tally since garnering 18 at Florida on Feb. 8. Those O-boards resulted in an 11 to 7
edge in second chance points. UT’s 11 second chance points were the
most since posting 20 at home vs. Kentucky on Feb. 15, and the seven allowed BSU were the fewest since surrendering seven vs. Ala-bama on Feb. 19. It marked the 10th time this season
Burdick has reached double fi gures in boards.
PUSHING TEMPO Tennessee recorded an 8-2 advantage on
fast break points vs. Boise State. UT had zero fast break points in its last
two games
ASSERTIVE IN THE PAINT Tennessee had a 38-20 advantage vs.
Boise State in points in the paint. It marked only the second time in the
past eight games (since Isabelle Harrison got hurt) that UT had won that category vs. its opponent. Prior to the game vs. the Broncos, Ten-
nessee’s last two opponents, #12/11 Ken-tucky (38-20) and #3/4 South Carolina (34-20), combined for a defi nitive 62-40 points in the paint edge. All nine of Bashaara Graves’ fi eld goals
came in the paint.
GETTING IT DONE WITH A TEAM EFFORT Tennessee won despite getting no points
from senior Cierra Burdick, who entered the game as UT’s top active scorer at 11.0 points per game. Burdick, though, grabbed 11 rebounds
and had fi ve assists and two steals in 25 minutes, helping her squad in other areas besides the scoring column. Graves, Massengale and Nia Moore had
above-average eff orts to help off set the loss of points from Burdick, prompting Holly Warlick to praise her team for the team ef-fort that earned the victory.
THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME Tennessee tied the school record for vic-
tories at home with its 17th (with no losses) this season on Saturday afternoon vs. BSU. The Lady Vols now have won 21 straight
games at home. UT also improved to 55-0 in NCAA Tour-
nament play in Knoxville, including 22-0 at home in the NCAA First Round. The Big Orange women now are 401-28
all-time at Thompson-Boling Arena in 28 years and are 554-52 overall in all UT venues over the past 41 years (since 1974-75).
THE SERIES VS. PITT Tennessee and Pitt will be meeting for
the fi fth time, with the Lady Vols owning a 4-0 record in the series. UT is 1-0 at home, 2-0 away and 1-0 at
neutral sites vs. the Panthers. The teams last met in the 2007 NCAA
Second Round in Pittsburgh, where the #3/4 Big Orange women notched a 68-54 victory at the Petersen Events Center behind 30 points and 12 rebounds from All-American Candace Parker. The Lady Vols would go on to win the
seventh of eight NCAA titles that season in Cleveland. The teams fi rst met on Dec. 16, 1977, dur-
ing Holly Warlick’s sophomore season, with UT prevailing, 83-55, in Columbus, Miss., at the Mississippi University for Women Christ-mas Invitational. Warlick was fi ve-of-fi ve from the fi eld
and two-of-three from the free throw line for 12 points and added fi ve assists, three rebounds and three steals vs. the Panthers. Tennessee’s only previous home game in

Vols with a career-high 24 points, connecting on 9-of-11 from the fi eld. Senior Ariel Massen-gale tallied 18 points. The duo combined for 42 of Tennessee’s 72 points. Tennessee dominated the glass, out-
rebounding the Broncos, 45-28, led by Cierra Burdick’s 11 boards. Jaime Nared added a ca-reer-high 10 rebounds. It marked the fourth time this season Tennessee had a pair of players with double-fi gure rebounds. The Lady Vols (28-5 overall) are now 53-1
all-time in the fi rst two rounds of the NCAA Tournament including 27-1 in the fi rst round. Tennessee is perfect all-time in post-season play at Thompson-Boling Arena, moving to 55-0 at home with a 22-0 mark in fi rst-round contests. Mountain West tourney champion Boise
State (22-11) was led by Brooke Pahukoa, who tallied a season-high tying 22 points. Her three 3-pointers led the Broncos’ shoot-ing from outside, as they went 9-of-25 from 3-point range.
COURTING A SWEET 16 BERTH When Tennessee faces Pitt on Monday,
the Lady Vols will be seeking their 33rd berth in the NCAA Sweet 16. The only year UT didn’t make the Sweet
16 was when the Lady Vols lost to Ball State, 71-55, in the NCAA First Round in Bowling Green, Ky., on March 22, 2009. The Big Orange women are a perfect
26-0 in NCAA Second Round games, owning a 21-0 record at home, 3-0 on the road and 2-0 at neutral sites. The winner of the Tennessee-Pitt game
will earn a trip to Spokane, Wash., for the Sweet 16, and would play either #3 seed Or-egon State or #11 seed Gonzaga, which is lo-cated in Spokane. Tennessee’s closest NCAA Second Round
margins were eight points in 1991 (UT 55, Southwest Mo. St. 47) and 2011 (UT 79, Mar-quette 70).
POTENTIAL WESTWARD SWING If UT were to advance out of Knoxville,
the Lady Vols would be making their furthest trek west for an NCAA Regional. The Lady Vols’ previous longest west-
ward trips to a regional site were Oklahoma City in 2008 and 2013, and Norman, Okla., in 2004. In terms of longest trips overall in post-
season play, Tennessee played in the 1984 NCAA Final Four in Los Angeles (NCAA Run-ner-up) as well as the 1988 (3rd) and 1989 (NCAA Champions) Final Fours in Tacoma, Wash. If UT advances, a trip to Spokane would
be the Lady Vols’ second, as the squad played at Gonzaga’s McCarthey Athletic Center on Dec. 30, 2008, taking an 85-70 win over the Zags. The Spokane Regional, however, will be
played at the Spokane Arena, a diff erent venue. UT made its only previous trip to Spo-
kane to play a homecoming game for Wash-ington native Angie Bjorklund, who starred at Tennessee from 2007-11. Bjorklund hails from Spokane Valley, Wash., and played at University High. A trip to Spokane would off er a chance
to return to the Pacifi c Northwest for Ten-nesee’s Oregon contingent. Sophomores Jordan Reynolds and Mercedes Russell, and freshman Jaime Nared all hail from Washing-ton’s neighboring state to the south.
Vols cruised to an 88-64 triumph in Stoke-ly Athletics Center.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS After losing 20 games a year ago (11-
20), Pitt has turned it around quickly to post a 20-11 mark heading into the NCAA Second Round match-up with Tennessee. The team was picked to fi nish last in
the ACC this season and produced a 9-7 league mark to wind up seventh. With the win over Chattanooga on Sat-
urday afternoon, the Panthers improved to 6-3 in postseason play in their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance. UP is led by senior point guard Brianna
Kiesel, who averages 18.0 points, 5.0 re-bounds and 4.6 assists per game. Pitt is coached by Suzie McConnell-Se-
rio, who is in her second year at the school and has a 31-31 record after beating UTC. McConnell, who played her college
ball at Penn State, directed the program at Duquesne to fi ve 20-win seasons out of her six there before moving to Pitt. McConnell-Serio’s daughter, Jordan, is
a sophomore guard for Pitt. The Panthers start three freshmen,
including 5-7 guard Aysia Bugg and for-wards Yacine Diop (5-10) and Stasha Carey (6-2).
UT VS. THE ACC The Lady Vols are 106-22 vs. schools
currently in the Atlantic Coast Conference and are 16-4 during the NCAA Tournament. This season, Tennessee is 0-1 vs. ACC
schools, having lost at #6/7 Notre Dame, 88-77, on Jan. 19 In its fi nal year of ACC affi liation last
season, Maryland ended Tennessee’s cam-paign in the Sweet 16 in Louisville, 73-62. The ACC got eight teams into this
year’s NCAA Tournament, while the SEC was awarded seven bids.
LAST TIME VS. PITT Candace Parker provided 30 points, 12
rebounds and a series of rally-halting plays that carried the #3/4 Lady Vols to a 68-54
NCAA Second Round victory over Pitt at the Panthers’ Petersen Events Center on March 20, 2007. UT advanced to the Sweet 16 for the
26th-consecutive season. Sidney Spencer scored 11 points, while
Nicky Anosike and Shannon Bobbitt con-tributed 10 each to the winning cause. The Lady Vols led 40-24 at the half on
57.5% shooting but were outscored 30-28 over the fi nal 20 minutes. The victory sent Tennessee on to Dayton,
Ohio, for the Sweet 16 and later to Cleveland, Ohio, where Pat Summitt, with Holly Warlick and Dean Lockwood assisting her, would guide UT to its seventh of eight NCAA titles.
BOLINGBROOK LINK Tennessee features players Ariel Mas-
sengale and Nia Moore who graduated from Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School, while Pitt has freshman Aysia Bugg, also a product of BHS. Moore’s twin sister, Annaya, also played
with that program. She now serves as an equipment manager for the Lady Vols.
PITT’S LAST GAME Pittsburgh, which was expected to fi n-
ish last in the Atlantic Coast Conference, has made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Stasha Carey scored 16 points and had
13 rebounds as Pitt (20-11) snapped Chat-tanooga’s 25-game winning streak. The seventh-seeded Mocs (29-4) fell for the fi rst time since a 57-52 loss at Arkansas State on Dec. 1. During the regular season, the Mocs
beat Tennessee and Stanford when both were ranked in the top 10. But they were no match for Pittsburgh, which ended a string of four straight losing seasons. Chattanooga shot a season-low 26.2
percent and continued a familiar postseason pattern. Last year, the Mocs also had won 25 straight games before losing to Syracuse in the opening round. Chattanooga has eight straight NCAA Tournament losses since beating Rutgers in a 2004 fi rst-round game.
TENNESSEE’S LAST GAME #2 seed Tennessee continued its mas-
tery in the early rounds of the NCAA Tour-nament posting a 72-61 win over #15 seed Boise State on Saturday afternoon. Junior Bashaara Graves led the Lady

TENNESSEE VS. THE NCAA FIELD Tennessee played 15 opponents and 18
games against 2015 NCAA Tournament qual-ifi ers this season, posting a 13-5 record. The Lady Vols beat Arkansas, Boise State,
Kentucky (three times), LSU, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Rutgers, Stanford, Ten-nessee State, Texas A&M and Wichita State. UT lost to Chattanooga, Notre Dame,
South Carolina (twice) and Texas, all away from Knoxville. Seven teams from the SEC (Arkansas,
Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, South Caro-lina, Tennessee and Texas A&M) made the NCAA tourney, tying the league for second with the Big Ten behind the ACC (8) for most schools representing a conference in this year’s tourney.
UT’S NCAA TOURNEY HISTORY The Lady Vols are making their 34th ap-
pearance in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, and UT is the only program to appear in all 34 tournaments. Tennessee was an at-large qualifi er for
the tourney fi eld, fi nishing as runner-up in the 2015 Southeastern Conference Tourna-ment and tying for the regular-season title. This marks the seventh time overall and
the third time in four years that the Lady Vols have been a No. 2 seed. UT has advanced to an NCAA Final Four
three times as a No. 2 seed, most recently in 2002, and UT won its fi rst of eight NCAA titles as a No. 2 seed in 1987. Tennessee has been either the top or No.
2 seed six-straight years and in 16 of the past 17 NCAA tournaments. The Lady Vols are 118-25 all-time in
NCAA tournament play, and they rank fi rst in games played (143) and victories (118) in NCAA tourney history. To put UT’s NCAA record in perspective,
entering this year’s event, the Big Ten was 160-138, the Pac-12 was 160-109 and the Big 12 was 159-109 all-time in tourney play. UT has advanced to 18 NCAA Final Fours
and won eight of them (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008). Tennessee has fi nished second in the na-
tion fi ve times and third on fi ve more occa-sions. UT has advanced to the NCAA regional
round on 32 occasions, posting a 26-6 record in the Sweet 16. The only season UT did not make the
regional level was 2009, when UT lost its opening round contest to Ball State in Bowl-ing Green, Ky. UT has made the Elite 8 26 times, posting
an 18-8 record in that round. The Lady Vols have seen their season
ended in the regional championship game in three of the past four years but in the Sweet 16 last season. Tennessee’s First/Opening Round oppo-
nents through the years have included: Jack-son St. (1982), South Carolina St. (1983), Mid-dle Tennessee State (1984), Virginia (1985), Iowa (1986), Tennessee Tech (1987), North Carolina A&T (1994), Florida A&M (1995), Radford (1996), Grambling (1997), Liberty (1998), Appalachian St. (1999), Furman (2000), Austin Peay (2001 & 2010), Georgia State (2002), Alabama State (2003), Col-gate (2004), Western Carolina (2005), Army (2006), Drake (2007), Oral Roberts (2008 & 2013), Ball State (2009), Stetson (2011), UT Martin (2012), Northwestern State (2014) and Boise State (2015).
LADY VOL DOUBLE DOUBLESUT IN THE FIRST & SECOND ROUNDS Tennessee is making its 34th appearance
in the NCAA First/Second Rounds, and it owns a 53-1 record during those games. The Lady Vols are 27-1 all-time in the
NCAA First Round and 26-0 in the NCAA Second Round. The only blemish is a fi rst-round loss to
Ball State, 71-55, in Bowling Green, Ky., on March 22, 2009. In NCAA First/Second Round play, UT is
43-0 at home, 3-0 away and 7-1 at neutral sites. Tennessee never has played an overtime
frame in the NCAA First and Second Rounds.
UT AT HOME FOR FIRST/SECOND ROUNDS This is the third-straight season, fi fth time
in six years and the 16th time overall (since the current format was adopted in 1994) that UT is hosting the NCAA Women’s Basketball First and Second Rounds. Prior to that, NCAA First and Second
Round games could be held at diff erent lo-cales. UT is 22-0 at home in the NCAA First
Round and 21-0 at home in the NCAA Sec-ond Round for a 43-0 combined record in those rounds. The Lady Vols last hosted the NCAA
First and Second Rounds in 2014, defeat-ing Northwestern State (La.), 70-46, and St. John’s, 67-51. This marks the fi fth time in the past six
years UT has played host. UT went on the road in 2012, playing in Chicago.
55-GAME HOME NCAA STREAK UT now is 55-0 all-time in home NCAA
games, including 22-0 in the First Round, 21-0 in the Second Round, 6-0 in the Sweet 16 and 6-0 in the Elite 8. In 2011, the win over Marquette during
the NCAA Second Round was the 50th con-secutive NCAA Tournament win for the Lady Vols in Knoxville, dating back to the start of the NCAA Tournament in 1982.
WORKING OVERTIME Tennessee is 4-1 in overtime games dur-
ing the NCAA Tournament, including 1-0 at home and 3-1 at neutral sites. The last NCAA overtime game UT played
was on March 29, 1996, when the Lady Vols beat UConn, 88-83, in an NCAA Final Four semifi nal game in Charlotte, N.C., en route to the NCAA title that season. The Lady Vols did not play an overtime
game this season or last, but had two dur-ing the 2012-13 regular season and are 2-0 in those contests under Holly Warlick.

21-CONSECUTIVE WINS AT HOME The Lady Vols are 17-0 this season at
Thompson-Boling Arena and have won 21 in a row at home, beginning with a Feb. 20, 2014, win over Auburn in Knoxville. UT last won 20-straight at home when
it had a 45-game streak from Feb. 22, 2009, (W, Mississippi State) to Feb. 2, 2012 (L, South Carolina).

The Tennessee women’s (10-0) and men’s teams (7-0) combined for a 17-0 start at home this season before the guys fell to Alabama on Jan. 10, 56-38.
HOME WIN RECORD Currently at 17-0, Tennessee is pursuing
its fi rst undefeated home season since 2010-11 (17-0). The Lady Vols have tied for the most
wins at Thompson-Boling Arena (17) by win-ning their fi rst round game. It also tied for most in a season ever at
home with the 17 (17-1) they had in 1978-79 at Stokely Athletics Center. If UT wins both its fi rst and second round
games, 18 home wins would be the most ever by the team at the arena and a school record. Tennessee previously has recorded 11
undefeated seasons at Thompson-Boling Arena and 14 altogether at home including one perfect season at Stokely (12-0) and a spotless split season between Alumni Gym and Stokely (8-0) in Holly Warlick’s fresh-man season of 1976-77.
VERY TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY Thompson-Boling Arena and Knoxville
have long had a reputation as a diffi cult place for visitors to win. The Lady Vols are 401-28 all-time at
Thompson-Boling Arena in 28 years, ranking the venue No. 3 behind UConn’s Gampel Pa-vilion and Florida Gulf Coast’s Alico Arena, which opened in 2007, in winning pct. In Knoxville venues, including Alumni
Gym, Stokely Athletics Center and Thomp-son-Boling Arena, UT is a remarkable 554-52 over the past 41 years (since 1974-75). That ranks Knoxville as the toughest city
in the nation to get an NCAA Division I wom-en’s basketball victory. UT has won 12 or more games in the
arena in each of its 28 years of existence af-ter doing so again in 2014-15 and has again claimed 15 victories for the 13th time in school history. Tennessee has posted 11 seasons with no
losses in the facility and enters 2015 post-season play looking for its 12th undefeated campaign at home. With one home win in the NCAA Tourna-
ment, Tennessee can surpass the record for
most home victories in a season in UT history (17), set by the 2009-10 (17-0), 2010-11 (17-0) and 1978-79 (17-1) squads. UT was 12-3, 16-2 and 15-3 in 2011-12,
2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively.
ARE YOU (NCAA) EXPERIENCED? Tennessee’s projected starting lineup of
Bashaara Graves, Cierra Burdick, Ariel Mas-sengale, Andraya Carter and Jordan Reyn-olds will most likely make its second post-season start together on Monday. That unit is 5-2 this season. Those fi ve starters, though, have played a
combined 37 NCAA Tournament games be-tween them and made 22 starts. Off the bench, Nia Moore has played
seven NCAA games during her career, all in reserve, while freshmen Jaime Nared and Alexa Middleton made their debuts vs. Boise State. For a complete look at player stats in the
postseason, please see the NCAA History section in this guide.

WARLICK IN NCAA ACTION This marks Holly Warlick’s third foray into
NCAA play as head coach, but certainly she is no stranger to the tournament. Warlick led UT to the Elite 8 in 2012-13
and Sweet 16 in 2013-14 in her fi rst two years. She has been on UT’s staff since 1985-86,
helping the Lady Vols to a 108-21 postsea-son record during that time, including 6-2 as head coach. During that stint, she has been a part of
all eight NCAA Championships, 16 NCAA Fi-nal Fours and 30 NCAA Tournament berths. As an assistant, Warlick handled a larger
role in the 2012 NCAA Tournament with Pat Summitt delegating some responsibilities af-ter she was diagnosed with early-onset de-mentia, Alzheimer’s type. As a player for Summitt from 1977-80,
Warlick participated in the forerunner to the NCAA, the AIAW, and helped UT to a runner-up appearance as a senior in 1980 and third-place fi nishes in 1977 and 1979.

tory in 1977. She had no trouble adjusting her enthusiasm and knowledge of the game into the coaching role. In 19 of the past 33 years Warlick has been affi liated with UT, she has found herself at the Final Four as a player (1977, 1979, 1980) or as a coach (1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008). Her best Final Four showing as a player was national championship runner-up in her senior season. As a coach, she has helped the Lady Vols win all eight times (1987, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007 and 2008). A three-time All-American while playing for Summitt from 1976-80, Warlick previously held UT records for most assists in a game (14), most steals in a contest (nine), most assists in a season (225) and most games in a career (142). She continues to hold the Lady Vol single-season steals record with 141 in 1978-79. Warlick possesses vast international experience as well. A member of the 1980 U.S. Olympic basketball team, Warlick also participated in the Jones C up, Pan American Games and World Championship competition. In addition, she was a WPBL All-Star, leading the Nebraska Wranglers to the championship of the Women’s Professional Basket-ball League in 1981. She has served as a player representa-tive on the USA BASKETBALL council and was a member of the USOC Advisory Council for Basketball. In recognition of being a former Olympian, Warlick earned the distinct honor of running the Olympic torch through Knoxville as it made its way to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Ga. Prior to joining the Tennessee staff for the 1985-86 season, Warlick gained experience at two other stops on the coaching circuit. She was an assistant at Virginia Tech from 1981-83 and an assistant from 1983-85 at Nebraska. A native of Knoxville, Warlick earned her B.S. in mar-keting from Tennessee in 1981 and her master’s degree in athletic administration from Virginia Tech in 1983. Warlick added “biker” to her vitae in 2001. To commemorate her induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, a number of Warlick’s friends got together and presented her with a Harley-Davidson “Sportster” motorcycle. Just six years later, Warlick already was using her love of the bike towards a greater cause, establishing the Champions For A Cause Foundation with Caldwell.

University of Tennessee (1976-80): three-time All-American, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, 1980 Olympic Team, fi rst player at UT to have her jersey (#22) retired
For more than three decades, Holly Warlick has been instrumental in the phenomenal success story that is Ten-nessee Lady Vols basketball. Her impact on the program stretches from her ground-breaking days as a three-time All-America point guard at UT (1976-80), to her 27 highly-productive years as a loyal assistant for Hall of Fame coach Pat Summitt, to her ascension to the head coaching posi-tion at UT. Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Dave Hart named Warlick head coach of the Lady Vols on April 18, 2012, as Summitt stepped into the role of head coach emeritus. In a touching and symbolic gesture the following day at a press conference announcing the changes, Sum-mitt presented her coaching whistle to her long-time aide and former fl oor general. Warlick proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was up to the task with her debut eff ort in 2012-13. Despite having a young, inexperienced team that was picked to fi nish as low as fi fth in the SEC and 20th nationally, the fi rst-year head coach impressively directed her troops to a 27-8 overall record and a 14-2 mark in league play. That ef-fort earned Tennessee its 17th all-time SEC regular season title, and it enabled a team that saw injuries force players to miss a combined total of 53 games to advance to the NCAA Elite Eight for the 26th time in school history. Improvement demonstrated by players not only translated into wins on the court, it also resulted in post-season attention. Meighan Simmons was named a third-team AP All-American, SEC Co-Player of the Year and fi rst-team All-SEC. Bashaara Graves was chosen a Full Court Freshman All-American, SEC Freshman of the Year and fi rst-team All-SEC. Kamiko Williams, meanwhile, was taken in the second round of the WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty. Warlick also was singled out for her performance, which included scoring a top-three recruiting class com-plete with the nation’s No. 1-ranked player in 6-foot-6 Mer-cedes Russell. The members of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association named her the Spalding Maggie Dix-on Division I Rookie Coach of the Year. She was selected by AP and league coaches as the SEC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year, and members of the Tennessee Sports Writers Association also chose her as TSWA Women’s Bas-ketball Coach of the Year. In year two, Warlick directed the team to a 29-6 re-cord and the program’s second SEC trophy in as many years with the capturing of the 2014 SEC Tournament. Among her top players were AP SEC Player of the Year Meighan Simmons, who was a third-round WNBA Draft pick of the New York Liberty, and Isabelle Harrison, a fi rst-team All-SEC choice and the SEC tourney’s MVP. Warlick and her staff also continued building for the future, landing the nation’s number six signing class in 2014. Anchoring that group are McDonald’s All-Americans Jaime Nared and Alexa Middleton, the nation’s No. 6 and No. 28 ranked players. After Warlick helped shape the direction of Lady Vol basketball as an assistant on Summitt’s staff for more than a quarter of a century, the pupil took on greater responsi-bility and oversaw daily supervision of the basketball of-fi ce during the 2011-12 season. She also handled a large measure of the media obligations after Summitt’s Aug.
23, 2011, announcement regarding the diagnosis of early-onset dementia, “Alzheimer’s type.” Providing an excellent example of how people rally around each other, the Tennessee staff members pulled together remarkably in the face of that adversity. The end result was a 27-9 overall record, a league-best 16th SEC Tournament Championship and advancement to the NCAA Regional Final. It’s worth noting that Warlick was by Summitt’s side, either as a player or an assistant, for 949 of the coach’s NCAA-record 1,098 wins and all eight NCAA National Championships. Her value to the program has been evi-dent for some time, as she had held the role of associate head coach since the 2005-06 campaign. The WBCA also had recognized Warlick’s contribu-tions to Tennessee’s success through the years, naming Warlick the nation’s top assistant coach after she helped lead UT to its seventh national title in 2007. The NCAA Division I women’s basketball coaches also recognized Warlick as one of the nation’s top assistants in 1998, rank-ing her prominently in The Women’s Basketball Journal poll. In addition to the NCAA title and coaching honor in 2007, Warlick also teamed up for the fi rst time with former fellow Lady Vol player and assistant Nikki Caldwell, the current head coach at LSU, to pursue her other passion. That pursuit is riding a motorcycle and raising money for the fi ght against breast cancer. Warlick and Caldwell created the Champions For A Cause Foundation, a long haul motorcycle ride dedicated to raising funds and awareness for a cure for breast cancer. The charitable organization has raised and donated more than $150,000. Past trips include the inaugural ride from San Francisco to Knoxville as well as trips from the Bad-lands to Las Vegas and from Knoxville to Key West, Fla., New Orleans, Niagara Falls and, most recently in 2013 and 2014, Panama City, Fla. With all of her accomplishments in coaching and in her charitable endeavors it might be easy to overlook the fact that Warlick left just as powerful a mark on women’s hoops as a player at UT. It doesn’t seem that long ago that the charismatic Knoxville native was fl ying up and down the court as an All-America Lady Vol point guard. For more than three decades, Warlick has been con-sidered the fi nest point guard ever to play for the Lady Vols. In addition to being selected to the CONVERSE/Lady Vol Team of the Decade for the 1980s in January of 1994, fi ve diff erent halls of fame opened their doors to her. On Feb. 27, 2004, she was inducted into the Tennes-see Sports Hall of Fame. In October 2002, she became a member of the University of Tennessee Lady Vol Hall of Fame in the second class of inductees. In June 2001, the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame selected Warlick as one of 10 inductees enshrined into the Hall for the Class of 2001. For the hometown girl, who grew up in the Rocky Hill section of Knoxville and graduated from Bearden High School, it was a dream-come-true. In the summer of 1994, Warlick gained admission to her fi rst hall of fame. She was honored as one of the City of Knoxville’s fi nest all-time athletes with her inclusion in the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame. Including the 2013-14 season, Warlick has invested 33 years in the program, having helped shape UT into a national powerhouse with tenure as both a player and a coach. Warlick’s expertise and major contributions to the team as an assistant came from her work with the guards. In 2010-11, Simmons was the SEC Rookie of the Year, and guard Shekinna Stricklen was the 20th Lady Vol named to the WBCA/State Farm All-America Team. Additionally, Warlick has been a highly-successful re-cruiter for the backcourt, attracting some of the nation’s fi nest players to UT to continue the excellence she helped establish as a player. The Lady Vols welcomed another top fl ight guard to the Orange and White for 2010-11 when she landed McDonald’s All-American Ariel Massengale. As a rookie in 2011-12, Massengale lived up to her billing, earning Full Court Freshman All-America and SEC All-Freshman Team honors. The point guard posted a UT freshman record of 162 assists, ranking second in the SEC in that category, and leading the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.1. Warlick’s tutelage also helped to strengthen the game of four-time All-SEC selection Angie Bjorklund, Kodak All-American and four-time Lady Vol All-SEC performer Kara Lawson and three-time All-SEC selection Shanna Zolman. That trio accounts for the school records for most of UT’s three-point marks. Warlick’s association with the Lady Vols started in 1976 when she joined the program as a scholarship 400-meter track athlete who ended up walking on to the basketball team. Soon, she would become the most pro-lifi c player in the history of Tennessee Lady Vol basketball. Warlick was the fi rst player in Tennessee athletics (men or women) to have her jersey retired (number 22) at the end of her career in 1980. Bearden, her prep alma ma-ter in Knoxville, retired Warlick’s high school jersey (also No. 22) prior to a home football game on Oct. 26, 2012. Known as a play-making wiz during her four years as UT’s point guard, Warlick was once tabbed the “best player in the South.” As a rookie, Warlick helped lead the Lady Vols to their fi rst Final Four appearance in school his-
