THE STARS LEFTY WALTHERTennessee All-Century Team member Paul “Lefty” Walther (1948-49) never lost to Vanderbilt during his career as a Vol. The Covington, Ky., native helped lead Tennes-see to a 4-0 record over the Dores, beating VU by an average of 9.8 points.
Ray MearsIncluded in Ray Mears’ legendary pregame repertoire was the wearing of his Big Or-ange blazer in Vandy’s Memorial Gym. As he strolled around the court before games, Vandy fans would often pelt Mears with oranges. When asked why he never even flinched, Mears replied, “They can’t hurt me in my coat of armor.”
THE CLASSIC GAMES Feb. 26, 2008Vanderbilt notched a big win in the rivalry, knocking off top-ranked Tennessee 72-69, just one day after the AP ranked the Vols No. 1 for the first time in school history.
Feb. 4, 1987Tony White scored 32, Dyron Nix (17 points, 18 rebounds) and Doug Roth (10 points, 10 rebounds) recorded double-doubles and Tennessee beat Vanderbilt 79-69 in overtime in Stokely Athletics Center in Knoxville.
Feb. 2, 1970Dick Johnston made six free throws in double-overtime to lift UT to a 77-72 win over the Dores in Nashville. Jimmy Eng-land led the charge with 27 points, and Bobby Croft had an 18-16 double-double.
3 The longest win streak in the se-ries by either team dating to 1994-95. A UT win Tuesday would be its third straight vs. Vanderbilt.
3 That’s how many Commodores are projected to be taken in June’s NBA Draft (Jenkins 22nd, Taylor 37th, Ezeli 53rd).
+3 That’s Tennessee’s scoring mar-gin over Vanderbilt over the last five meetings in the series (343 to 340).
45 This rivalry has seen 45 home/away sweeps in its 90-year history. UT has swept Vandy 33 times, with the Dores scoring 12 sweeps.
182 181.63 miles separate UT’s Thompson-Boling Arena in Knox-ville and Vanderbilt’s Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville.
Series NotesTennessee and Vanderbilt will meet for the 180th time Tuesday ... The Volunteers lead the all-time series 110-69, dating to 1922 and have won six of the last 10 meetings ... UT’s 110 wins over the Dores are the most by the Vols over any oppo-nent, and only Kentucky (212 games) has been an
opponent of the Vols more times than Vanderbilt ... UT leads the series 67-17 when playing in Knoxville ... Vanderbilt leads 50-36 when it is played on the Commodores’ home court ... UT and VU have played every season since their first meeting in 1922 except for the WWII years of 1944 and 1945 ... UT is 11-5 in the city of Nashville since 2005-06.
Tennessee Trends• Through the games of Jan. 23, the Vols rank third in the SEC in 3-point percentage (.367), 3-pointers made (7.6 pg) while ranking fourth assists (13.5 apg).• Tennessee has outscored 13 of its 19 opponents in the paint in this season.• UT ranks 49th nationally with 4.7 blocks per game. Interestingly, 45.6 percent of those blocks are by guards and 35.6 percent are by freshmen.• Trae Golden leads the SEC and ranks 51st nation-ally in assists (5.2 apg).• The Vols are 4-1 this season when Golden records at least seven assists.• Jeronne Maymon ranks third in the SEC in field-goal percentage (.553) and fifth in offensive rebounding (3.1 orpg) while ranking sixth in total rebounding (7.7 rpg). • Jeronne Maymon’s five double-doubles this season are tied for fourth among all SEC players.• Senior guard Cameron Tatum has more career games with 10+ points than any other Vol has career starts (42).• 83.0 percent of junior Skylar McBee’s career field-goal attempts have been 3-pointers (230-277).• Tennessee is averaging 15.5 pass deflections per game so far this season.• UT has played six games against AP top-25 teams—more than any other SEC team.• Tennessee’s schedule this season includes 12 games against teams in the top 50 of the Sagarin Ratings (updated Jan. 23).
Noting VanderbiltIn their 13th season under head coach Kevin Stallings, the Vanderbilt Commodores are 14-5 (4-1 SEC) but are coming off a heartbreaking 78-77 overtime home loss to Mississippi State on Saturday ... The MSU setback gives the Commodores an 8-4 home record this season; the other home losses came against Cleveland State, Xavier and Indiana State ... Vanderbilt starts four seniors and is a veteran-laden squad with three projected selec-tions in June’s NBA Draft, according to NBADraft.net (John Jenkins 22nd overall; Jeffery Taylor 37th overall; Festus Ezeli 53rd overall) ... Jenkins (19.8 ppg) and Taylor (17.1 ppg) rank first and third, respectively, in the SEC in scoring ... As a team, Vandy ranks 11th nationally in 3-point percentage (.405) ... Interestingly, Vanderbilt did not play a single in-state opponent in non-conference play this season.
In The Last Game vs. Vanderbilt...Tennessee overcame an 11-point second-half defi-cit to post a thrilling 60-51 win at Vanderbilt’s Memorial Gym on Feb. 22, 2011 ... Vandy’s 51 points marked the Dores’ second-lowest scoring output against the Vols at that facility ... UT held the SEC’s leading scorer, John Jenkins, to his lowest scor-ing total in SEC play all season (11 points) and snapped a four-game streak in which Jenkins had topped 20 points ... Vandy led 31-27 at the half and built a lead as large as 42-31 with 13:02 to play in the second half ... But Scotty Hopson and Melvin Goins were outstanding throughout
the second half ... Goins scored 11 of his 15 points during the final 20 minutes, and Hopson repeatedly knifed into the lane to convert tough layups or earn a trip to foul line ... Vols freshman Tobias Harris logged his eighth double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds ... Jenkins and center Festus Ezeli led the way for the Commodores with 11 points each ... The Vols held VU scoreless over the final 5:02 and scored the game’s final 11 points.
Steals Key To Last Season’s Win At VandyTennessee’s 15 steals at Vanderbilt last season were its most in an SEC contest in more than two years ... The Vols also logged 15 steals against the Commo-dores on Feb. 14, 2009, in a 69-50 victory at Thomp-son-Boling Arena ... In Memorial Gym last season, 21 of UT’s points came off of Vanderbilt turnovers ... Three Vols recorded at least three steals in the game.

UConn RecapFreshman Jarnell Stokes notched his first career double-double in just his third collegiate game as Tennessee upset defending national champion and 13th-ranked UConn 60-57 Saturday at Thompson-Boling Arena ... Stokes, who earned his first start since joining the Vols, poured in 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as UT relied primarily on its inside game against the physical Huskies ... Connecticut came into the game shooting a scorching 47.9 percent from the floor, but the Vols held the Huskies to just 36.4 percent shoot-ing ... It was the second-lowest shooting perfor-mance by the Huskies this season and their lowest point output of the year ... The Vols kept UConn’s big men in check, as the Huskies were led by their guard combo ... Jeremy Lamb had a game-high 23 points, and Shabazz Napier added 18 as the only Huskies in double figures ... The game was tight from wire to wire ... Both teams led by just 4 points in the first half, and the game was tied five times in the first 20 minutes, with the Huskies taking a 27-25 advantage into the break despite shooting just 33.3 percent in the first half ... UT broke loose early in the second half with nine unanswered points in the first four minutes to lead 34-27 ... Connecticut fought its way back when Tennessee missed nine
consecutive shots before Stokes broke the drought ... The Huskies did not go down without a scrappy fight as the clock ticked down ... Lamb hit a 3-point-er with 37 seconds left to make it 55-51 Vols. ... Trae Golden made a free throw, then Napier hit another 3-pointer to cut it to 56-54 with 23 seconds remain-ing ... Skylar McBee hit two clutch free throws for Tennessee, and Kenny Hall added a foul shot, but Napier answered with yet another 3-pointer for the Huskies to make it 59-57 Tennessee with 6 seconds remaining ... Cameron Tatum was fouled but made just one of his free throws ... The ensuing despera-tion heave by Napier from nearly halfcourt as the clock expired was off as the Vols secured the upset.
Jarnell Stokes > Chuck NorrisNew enrollee Jarnell Stokes, a 6-8, 250-pound power forward from Memphis, Tenn., signed with UT on Dec. 23 and practiced with the Vols for the first time on Jan. 9 ... Just five days later, he made his debut against No. 2 Kentucky ... Now, three games into his college career, he has worked his way into a starter’s role, he is Tennessee’s top rebounder (8.0 rpg), he has already notched a double-double (16 points, 12 rebounds vs. UConn) and Knoxville-area retailers are already selling Stokes-themed t-shirts.

Vols In The NBASeveral former Tennessee basketball stand-outs now make their living in the NBA ... 2011 Freshman All-America selection Tobias Harris was the 19th pick in June’s
NBA Draft and is now a forward with the Milwaukee Bucks (originally selected by Charlotte; part of three-team draft-day trade) ... Former Vols point guard C.J. Watson (2003-06) is in his fifth NBA season and his second with the Chicago Bulls ... Watson helped lead the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals last season ... Tennessee All-America performer Ernie Grunfeld (1974-77) currently occupies the role of president of the Washington Wizards and previously served in simi-lar capacity with the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks ... Lastly, Tennessee’s all-time lead-ing scorer, Allan Houston (1990-93), was recently appointed by the Knicks’ front office as general manager of that franchise’s NBDL affiliate, the Erie BayHawks ... Tennessee also has two former mem-bers of its national-championship-winning dance team currently performing with NBA dance squads (Sierra Gordon with the Golden State Warriors and Emiliy Bibliowicz with the Orlando Magic).
Nation’s Highest-Scoring Coaching StaffTennessee’s four-man coaching staff scored 5,381 points during their Division I playing days ... That leads all current Division I staffs in the nation (in fact, no other staff combines for more than 5,200 points) ... Cuonzo Martin scored 1,666 points at Purdue from 1992-95 ... Tracy Webster was a Big Ten contemporary of Martin’s, scoring 1,264 at Wisconsin from 1991-94 ... Jon Harris tallied 439 points from 1999-2002 while playing alongside Dwyane Wade at Marquette, and Kent Williams ended his career as the second-leading scorer in Southern Illinois history with 2,012 points.Rank Staff Points1. Tatum Closing In On 1,000 PointsFifth-year senior Cameron Tatum is 14 points shy of becoming the 44th member of Tennessee’s 1,000-Point Club ... Entering this season, the Lithonia, Ga., native averaged 7.8 ppg in 104 career games as a Vol ... He averages 9.5 ppg this year and currently ranks 10th among all active SEC scorers.
Tatum Ascending Tennessee’s Games Played ListIn addition to his approach toward 1,000 career points, senior Cameron Tatum also is rapidly ascending Tennessee’s all-time games played list ... Tatum has seen action in 123 contests during his career ... He’ll break into UT’s all-time top 10 when he plays in his 126th career game, and should he appear in all 31 of Tennessee’s regular-season games this year, he’ll finish his career ranked sec-ond in Vols history with 135 games played.
Tatum Approaching Top 10 In 3-Pointers MadeSenior Cameron Tatum has made 140 3-pointers in his career, which puts him 12 makes shy of tying Lang Wiseman (152 from 1990-93) for 10th place on UT’s all-time list ... Current Chicago Bulls point guard C.J. Watson (2003-06) ranks ninth in school history with 165 3-pointers made.
Tatum Also Nearing 200 Career AssistsCameron Tatum also is only five assists shy of 200 for his career ... Once he reaches the 1,000-point, 200-assist mark, he will be just the 16th player in school history to accomplish that feat.
Golden’s Assist/Turnover Ratio Is CrucialIn Tennessee’s wins, point guard Trae Golden has a 2.68 assist/turnover ratio ... That number drops to 1.15 in UT’s losses ... Overall this season, Golden’s 1.77 assist/turnover ratio ranks fifth in the SEC.
Golden Shining Since Nose SurgeryPoint guard Trae Golden underwent a surgical procedure at UT Medical Center on Dec. 30 to cor-rect a minor nasal fracture ... Three days later, he tied a career-high with 29 points vs. Chattanooga on Jan. 2, and followed that effort with a 22-point night at Memphis Jan. 4 ... The sophomore suffered the broken nose in practice Dec. 16, and he did not miss any games (sat out just one practice).
High-Percentage Hall Junior forward Kenny Hall shoots .571 from the field for his career (124 of 217) ... More than a third (52 of 124, .419) of Hall’s career field goals have been dunks; that’s as “high-percentage” as it gets.
McBee Fourth In SEC In 3-Point ShootingJunior shooting guard Skylar McBee has made 36-of-84 shots from beyond the arc and boasts a team-best .429 percentage from long range (good for fourth in the SEC) ... He scored a career-high 16 points against Chattanooga (1/2/12) during which he tied his career-high for 3-pointers in a game with five.
Calipari Offers High Praise For MartinKentucky head coach John Calipari had this to say after his first head-to-head clash with Cuonzo Martin’s squad on Jan. 14: “I am so impressed with what coach Martin has done. I keep coming back to if you want to win championships, you’ve got to be able to guard in the half court, you’ve got to be physical and you’ve got to have toughness. I don’t really care what their record is; (Tennessee) is an NCAA Tournament team. He’s doing it by changing a culture. He’s getting them to guard. The second thing is he’s doing it in recruiting. I can’t imagine they’re not ecstatic.”
Vols Offense Powered By The Peach StateTennessee has four contributors from the state of Georgia, and those four Vols—Trae Golden, Jordan McRae, Cameron Tatum and Kenny Hall—account for 55.1 percent of the team’s total scoring (39.2 ppg) ... Golden, McRae, Tatum and Hall also account for 70.0 percent of UT’s assists (180 of 257, or 9.5 apg).
Woolridge May Get Minutes On The WingHead coach Cuonzo Martin on Jan. 16 indicated that senior Renaldo Woolridge may start seeing minutes at the No. 3 position after playing primar-ily in the post so far this season ... Martin praised Woolridge’s energy and enthusiasm this year ... Fellow senior Cameron Tatum is the starter at the No. 3 spot.
Richardson Playing Like A Veteran DefensivelySince being promoted to the starting lineup for the start of SEC play, true freshman guard Josh Richardson has elevated his already-stellar efforts on the defensive end ... Richardson is tied for sec-ond on the team with 14 blocks this season, and he ranks fifth on the team in steals with 12 ... In SEC play, Richardson averages 1.25 blocks per game.

Positive Paint ProductionTennessee has outscored 12 of its 19 opponents in the paint this season ... The Vols average 30.0 points in the paint per game while allowing 26.4 ... Memphis (twice; 50-44 and 38-22), Kentucky (28-24) and UNC Greensboro (32-24) are the three teams who outscored UT in the paint thus far ... ETSU and Georgia each matched the Vols’ total for paint scoring this season.
Ten Double-Doubles In 19 GamesNo player on this year’s Tennessee roster had a double-double last season, but the Vols have logged 10 double-doubles already this year in 19 games ... Jeronne Maymon has five, while Trae Golden, Kenny Hall, Yemi Makanjuola, Jarnell Stokes, and Cameron Tatum each have one ... In 34 games last year, UT produced 10 double-doubles, and all of the players responsible are no longer with the program.
Maymon Goes #BeastMode vs. Top-10 TigersJunior forward Jeronne Maymon’s 32-point, 20-rebound game against eighth-ranked Memphis at the Maui Invitational (11/22/11) was noteworthy on numerous accounts: It was just the sixth 30-20 game in Tennessee history; it was the first since Steve Hamer posted 31-21 against Alabama in the SEC Tournament on March 7, 1996, in New Orleans (UT won 77-65). It was the first 30-20 game by a “major conference” player since Oklahoma’s Blake Griffin posted one in 2009. The previous two before Griffin’s were recorded by Kansas State’s Michael Beasley and Texas’ Kevin Durant. The 20 rebounds set a Maui Invitational record, breaking the previous mark of 19, set most recently by Kansas’ Nick Collison against Seton Hall in 2001. His 32 points gave him 72 on the season (four games). In 23 previ-ous college games coming into this year, he totaled 73 points. His 32 points vs. Memphis came close to equaling his scoring total from all of last season (37 points in 14 games). His 32 points and 20 rebounds both currently stand as the top individual scoring and rebounding efforts by an SEC player this season.
Chievous Likely To RedshirtCuonzo Martin indicated on Nov. 15 that freshman guard Quinton Chievous will likely redshirt this season ... Chievous has not appeared in any games ... Said Martin: “It’s just a matter of (Quinton) being more consistent on the perimeter, even though he can shoot and handle the ball really well. Quinton is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, guy on our team, and he can get to the rim as well as anyone. His future with us is as a guard.”
Bring On The BestIn keeping with recent tradition, Tennessee’s sched-ule once again ranks among the most difficult in the nation ... Here are some numbers of note: 17 Naismith Trophy candidates UT will face 14 Games against 2011 NCAA Tournament teams 10 Games against top-50 RPI teams from 2010-11 7 Games against this week’s AP’s top-25
Tennessee Earns Seventh-Place Finish In MauiTennessee earned a seventh-place finish in the 2011 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational in November ... The Vols dropped a closely-contested opener to No. 6 Duke and then fell to No. 8 Memphis by two points in double overtime before defeating host school Chaminade on the event’s final day ... UT averaged 83.3 points and 39.7 rebounds per game in Maui while shooting .457 from the field, .393 from 3-point range and .789 at the free-throw line ... Jeronne Maymon led the Vols in scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.7 rpg) ... Trae Golden and Jordan McRae both averaged 14.7 points.
November Signees: Reese, Edwards Ink With VolsTennessee signed a pair of tall, athletic wings dur-ing the November signing period ... 6-7, 205-pound Derek Reese, of Olympia High School in Orlando, Fla., joins 6-6, 210-pound D’Montre Edwards (pronounced duh-MAHN-tray), from Charleston, S.C. ... Edwards is currently enrolled at Brevard Community College in Cocoa, Fla., and will have two years of eligibility remaining at Tennessee ... Both players plan to enroll this summer.

The year before his arrival at Missouri State, the Bears ranked 200th nationally in turn-overs per game and 142nd in assist/turnover ratio ... After just three seasons in Springfield, Martin saw MSU improve 193 spots in the national rankings for turnovers per game and 115 spots nationally in assist/turnover ratio. Those players are Tyler Summitt (Communications, with a Business minor) and Renaldo Woolridge (Sociology) ... Cameron Tatum (Africana Studies) graduated in December ... Since December 2009, 10 Tennessee basket-ball players have earned their degrees.

Seven Vols hail from the state of Tennessee, while four are from Georgia ... Tennessee has two seniors, five juniors, five sophomores and seven freshmen ... The roster includes 12 guards, six forwards and one center ... 10 Vols stand 6-5 or shorter, and nine are 6-6 or taller.
Notes From The Weight RoomStrength and conditioning coach Troy Wills on which Vols have made noticeable strides in the weight room: “Wes Washpun is one of the most athletic kids we’ve had in a while. He’s got a 41-inch vertical and recorded a time in the pro agility test that is comparable to a lot of the better defenders I’ve had an opportunity to work with in the past seven years.” ... “Trae Golden has put a concerted effort into his training, and the changes he’s made in his body and physical performance are evident. He’s lighter and stronger than he’s ever been, and he’s increased his vertical jump to higher than 35 inches, which is nearly three inches better than last year.” ... “Jeronne Maymon is by far our strongest player, with a bench press well over 300 pounds. Renaldo Woolridge is the most well-rounded athlete we have from a physical standpoint, being a top-three performer in every test. Specifically, he bench pressed 275 pounds, vertical jumps 38 inch-es and he ran the 3/4-court sprint in 3.03 seconds.”
Woolridge Duo May Be Unique In Hoops HistoryThe father-son duo of Orlando and Renaldo Woolridge may be the only such duo in NCAA Division I history to each play against and defeat the No. 1-ranked team in the country ... While at Notre Dame, Orlando played in four wins over top-ranked teams, beating Marquette in 1977-78, DePaul in 1979-80 and Kentucky and Virginia in 1980-81 ... Orlando made a 17-foot turnaround shot to beat Virginia at the buzzer and had 12 points and nine rebounds in that game, similar to the 14 points and 8 rebounds his son, Renaldo, had against Kansas on Jan. 10, 2010.

Vols Enjoying World-Class FacilitiesThe University of Tennessee has invested more than $40 million into its basketball facilities since the end of the 2006-07 campaign ... Prior to the 2007-08 sea-son, UT added a basketball-only practice facility and began the first phase of renovations to Thompson-Boling Arena ... The $19 million first phase of renova-tions included the addition of 32 luxury suites that are located in the existing north balcony, a loge area just below the luxury suites that includes 166 side court seats, new seats for the entire arena, a $3 million center-hung scoreboard and concourse refurbishments, such as graphics and other ameni-ties ... The renovations took Thompson-Boling’s capacity down from 24,535 to 21,678 ... The Vols’ state-of-the-art basketball practice facility, Pratt Pavilion, houses two full-size gymnasiums, one for each of the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as an athletic training room, weight room and film-study room ... Prior to the 2010-11 season, a pedestrian bridge was constructed lead-ing from the G-10 parking garage to the arena, an elevator was added at the arena’s northwest end as a customer service amenity and new exterior signage was installed on the building’s facade ... The UT athletics department renovated the men’s and women’s basketball offices at the arena during the 2010-11 campaign, creating a new and impres-sive “front door” for the basketball programs ... And new to Thompson-Boling Arena this year is a 360-degree LED ribbon board that runs along the bottom of the upper deck.
Legends In The RaftersFour Tennessee basketball legends are memorial-ized with banners in the Thompson-Boling Arena rafters ... During a halftime ceremony on March 1, 2006, banners honoring longtime head coach Ray Mears (1962-77) and beloved radio “Voice of the Vols” John Ward (1964-99) were unveiled ... The UT men’s basketball program had never retired a jersey prior to the 2006-07 season, but after nearly 100 years of hardwood history, Bernard King (1975-77) was the first player to earn that distinguished honor ... King’s No. 53 jersey was officially retired during a halftime ceremony at the Feb. 13, 2007, home game against Kentucky (UT won 89-85) ... Then on March 2, 2008, Ernie Grunfeld (1974-77) became the sec-ond UT player to receive the ultimate honor, when his No. 22 jersey was unveiled in the rafters during halftime of Tennessee’s 63-60 victory over Kentucky ... Allan Houston (1990-93) became the third such honoree at March 6, 2011, game against Kentucky.
Tennessee Season-Ticket Sales at 13,200+Tennessee has sold more than 13,200 season-ticket packages for the 2011-12 season, Cuonzo Martin’s debut campaign on Rocky Top ... The Vols’ current total of season-ticket sales exceeds the capac-ity of five SEC arenas (Ole Miss [capacity 9,061], Auburn [9,121], Mississippi State [10,500], Georgia [10,523] and Florida [12,000]).
Thompson-Boling Arena Turns 25-Years-OldThe 2011-12 campaign marks Tennessee’s 25th season of basketball in Thompson-Boling Arena ... To commemorate the anniversary, the Volunteers have highlighted great moments in TBA history on this year’s tickets ... Promotions at UT home games will look back on the great players and plays in the facility’s history ... The Vols are 288-103 (.737) all-time in Thompson-Boling Arena, and the venue has hosted 73 men’s games for which the attendance exceeded 20,000 ... In total, TBA has hosted more than 6.2 million fans for UT men’s games.
Friendly ConfinesIn 2010, Cuonzo Martin’s Missouri State team tied Kansas for the national Division I lead in home wins with 19 ... And Missouri State’s average home attendance increased more than 1,350 fans per game during Martin’s tenure there ... Those figures make for a tremendously exciting outlook of what his future teams could accomplish in the friendly (and rabid) confines of Thompson-Boling Arena (21,678 capacity).
Vols Among Nation’s “Most Valuable” ProgramsIn the spring of 2010, the Tennessee men’s basket-ball program was included on Forbes.com’s list of the 20 “most valuable” college basketball programs in the country ... The figures showed UT hoops with a value of $14.1 million and a profit of $8.6 million in 2009-10.
Vols Currently Sixth Nationally In AttendanceThe Volunteers currently rank sixth nationally with an average home attendance of 17,046 ... The top five are: Kentucky, Syracuse, Louisville, North Carolina and Wisconsin.
Tennessee Stands AloneTennessee is the only Division I school ever to rank in the top five nationally in attendance for football, men’s basketball and women’s basket-ball in the same year ... UT accomplished that feat for the eighth time in 2010-11.
Home Crowds of 20,000 Nothing New For VolsTennessee has played in front of 47 home crowds of 20,000 or larger dating to the 2005-06 season ... The crowd of 22,326 for the 2009 Gonzaga game marked the largest at Thompson-Boling Arena since capacity was reduced from 24,535 to 21,678 prior to the 2007-08 campaign ... Tennessee also has hosted ESPN College GameDay twice in the last four seasons.
The Volunteers At Thompson-Boling Arena Thompson-Boling Arena is hosting its 25th season in 2011-12 ... The Vols have won nearly 75 percent of their games in Thompson-Boling Arena and have ranked in the top 10 nationally in attendance 11 times, including an active streak of five consecutive seasons in which UT has ranked in the top five.• Tennessee is 288-103 (.737) in 25 seasons in Thompson-Boling Arena.• Since the 1998 season, the Vols are 188-44 (.810) in Thompson-Boling Arena.• The Vols are 84-30 against SEC teams at home over the last 11 seasons.• Tennessee has won 32 of its last 42 SEC games at Thompson-Boling Arena.• UT has won 111 of its last 125 home games against non-conference opponents.• Tennessee finished both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons with a 16-0 home record.• The Vols have won each of their last four home games against the defending national champion.• Sporting News recently tabbed Thompson-Boling Arena the “best homecourt advantage” in the
Southeastern Conference for three consecutive years.
