“Social Media”So we’ve all heard about this thing called “Social Media.” It’s supposed to connect you to friends and family world wide, making it easier to communicate and stay connected. It’s become popular with everyone from middle school students to my grandmother.
Mobile Devices
It’s used everywhere on smartphones and computers. This so called “Social Media” is making it difficult to communicate with people in the same room.
In Class
I can’t tell you how often I’ve seen people using snapchat, instagram, twitter, or facebook in class. It’s making it hard for the teachers to teach.
New Trends
With Instagram and Snapchat on the rise throughout 2013 it’s becoming harder and harder for people to unplug from devices. My classmates are, in general, using their phones more than talking to their classmates.
Do You Use Social Media?Ya, ya. So I’m putting up a fuss about my peers’ Social Media obsession. Do I use all these services and apps?
Answer: No. I sat out the Facebook Boom, ignored Twitter’s Rise to Fame, and recently watched in despair as my best friends became consumed by Instagram.
I feel like I’m witnessing the apocalypse of society here.
And as such: This is pretty much how my friends view me.
Will it continue?
I sure hope not. I miss being able to have a conversation or hang out with my friends without them looking at their phones every three minutes.
But it probably will continue, and although some people use Social Media to really connect, it might hurt society before it helps. Especially with the amount of cyber bullying and putting down that goes on online.
(Don’t get me started on cyber bullying or we’ll never wrap this up.)
(I’m thinking about Cyber Bullying now and it’s making me kind of angry so I’m gonna stop before I go into a rant about everything I hate in life.)
“Social Media”So what is this so-called “Social Media” that’s making it so hard to even hold onto a decent conversation? I really don’t know.Still, there has to be something in it right? Something that makes people want to use it despite the risks and lost friendships, the bullying and the problems? Maybe there is. I never plan on finding out.
