Tmaintained in each direction on University Avenue. A closure of Malcolm Avenue just north of University Avenue is needed for about 3 weeks to work o

    underground utility. During this temporary closure, access Malcolm Avenue via 4th Street.

    Construction Highlights for the Week of April 7-13

    North/south crosswalks at the intersection of Union Street and Washington Avenue closed; temporary

    crosswalk moves 20 feet to the west of its current location starting early in the week. - NEW

    Eastbound Washington Avenue between Walnut Street and Oak Street will have intermittent closures whileconcrete is poured for one day early in the week; watch for short term detours. - NEW

    Sidewalk scheduled to close for one week beginning Tuesday on the southeast corner of Oak Street andWashington Avenue; access to Punch Pizza and Chipotle will be maintained via the Washington Avenuesidewalk. Temporary north/south crosswalk east of the Oak Street intersection added for this closure. - NEW

    Nighttime construction activities begin April 9 on Washington Avenue between Oak Street and HuronBoulevard. Night work will occur from 6 PM to 2 AM and last for approximately four weeks. - NEW

    All traffic shifted to the south side of University Avenue between 23rd Avenue and 25th Avenue; two way traffmaintained.- NEW

    Sidewalk on the east side of 23rd Avenue between 4th Street and University Avenue closes; use westsidewalk. - NEW

    Sidewalk on the north side of University Avenue between 23rd Avenue and 25th Avenue closes; use southsidewalk. North sidewalk access maintained to Tea House. - NEW

    Traffic Details Eastbound traffic from downtown to Cedar Avenue/West Bank turns left onto Northwest Cedar Avenue

    Ramp. Southeast Cedar Avenue Ramp closed to vehicle traffic; detour via Northwest Cedar Avenue Ramp.

    Sidewalk Details

    Sidewalk on east side of Cedar Avenue Bridge closed.

    Bus Stop Details

    Metro Transit bus stops are located at Willey Hall for westbound buses and at Blegen Hall foreastbound buses.

    There is one bus stop for all University of Minnesota Campus Connectors and Campus Circulators onthe north side of Washington Avenue near Willey Hall just south of the bus shelter. East andwestbound University of Minnesota buses will use this single stop location.

    Details of Overnight Work

    Duration Nighttime construction activities will occur nightly, Monday-Saturday, from 6 PM to 2 AM

    beginning on April 9 through early May. - NEW

    Nighttime Construction Activities Crews will remove the underground utilities and replace them with upgraded systems. - NEW Construction vehicles will have an audible beep for when vehicles back up; this beeping

    must remain on for safety reasons. - NEW Additional lighting will be added to the work zone to assist in a safe and efficient work

    environment. - NEW

    Nighttime Construction ActivitiesWashington Avenue between Oak Street and Huron Boulevard

    April 9 through early May 2012

    Construction activities to complete underground utility work on Washington Avenue between OakStreet and Huron Boulevard will occur nightly, Monday-Saturday, beginning on April 9. Night workwill continue through early May. Crews understand there are residential buildings adjacent and nearthe work site and will work as efficiently as possible to minimize impact.

    Avenue via 27th Avenue to 4th Street. All traffic shifted to the south side of University Avenue between 29th Avenue and Emerald Street; two way

    traffic maintained.

    Sidewalk Details University Avenue south sidewalk closed from 27th Avenue to the 29th Avenue pedestrian crossing for pri-

    Permits may be granted for the contractor to work outside the hours outlined above. Night work will occur on Washington Anue between Oak Street and Huron Boulevard for the next month on Monday-Saturday, from 6 PM to 2 AM.
