2. GROUP 4 CHAPTER 1 REVIEW EXERCISE Because we are engaged in learning how to manipulate viewers perceptions, what are the necessary ethical components in the study and the application of media aesthetics? 3. Media Aesthetics Consciously or not, we make many aesthetic choices everyday. Despite the enormous changes that the digital revolution has brought about in video and and film production hardware, software, and production methods, the basic media aesthetic principles stand. 4. Applied Media Aesthetics Not an abstract concept but a process in which we examine a number of media elements, such as lighting and sound, how they interact, and our perceptual reactions to them. 5. PeTA The hidden message of promoting sex in church is alright for the sake of saving animals 6. PeTA This exploits Jewish history for the sake of animals. The compared the lives of thousands of Jews who where slaughtered during The Holocaust 7. PeTA An ad that mocks obesity and bullying the overweight society into going vegetarian. 8. PeTA Got Autism? was an add in poor taste that was mocked those with autism for the sake of them not drinking cow milk. 9. PeTA PeTA has used nudity; religion, obesity, learning disabilities and the death of many in history o exploit their message of animal cruelty and becoming vegetarian. They choose to use graphic imaging and exploit the emotions of the country for the sake of their points only. PeTA belief is "animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment or abuse in any way." But their underhanded slogan is that exploiting everything that is against animals is fair game for their message. Further perpetuating the long battle of sex and consumers. PeTA who is the largest non-for profit organization in support of animal rights has angered the very same people who the ads are geared towards. 10. Breaking Bad One way we can conditioned to change our views on certain products is by their placement and implementation in a popular TV show. Breaking Bad, which has just ended, is a very popular show that uses product placement to get us to notice and subconsciously desire the products. 11. Breaking Bad Products In the season 2 episode, Negro y Azul, Funyuns & Raisin Bran (&Crunch) are worked into the script in a believable way. 12. Breaking Funyuns Jesse Pinkman is shown with many spilled or empty bags of Funyuns in his apartment. 13. Breaking Funyuns In the scene where he is talking to Walter many bags of Funyuns are shown in every shot. This will make many viewers who like or relate to the character crave Funyuns more than they might already. 14. Breaking Bran In another scene, Walter's son is having breakfast, he has a conversation with his mom about Rasin Bran saying she got regular and not crunch, not only showing the product to the viewer, but explaining the different types available, and then pushing the box into clearer view in the shot. 15.
