Spend your summer safelyWhile enjoying all the fun outdoor activities this summer, please take care around electricity. Keep kites, balloons and model airplanes away from overhead power lines. Contact with lines can cause serious electrical shock or fire.

Operate outdoor appliances or electrical equipment away from pools or other water sources. Make sure you are not wet or standing in water while using them.

Don’t spray water on power lines, equipment or structures. A stream of water hitting a power line can create a path for electricity.

New energy-efficient homesIf you are looking to buy a home, choose one that offers lower utility costs, superior comfort and a reduced environmental impact.

EPSTM is an energy performance scoring tool from Energy Trust of Oregon that rates the energy impact of a newly built home. EPS-qualified homes are built to be at least 10 percent better than code and typically have high-efficiency features such as improved insulation, efficient appliances and upgraded windows.

Talk with your builder or real estate professional to find a home with an EPS that will save you energy and money for years to come.

Learn more about EPS at energytrust.org/eps or call 1-866-368-7878.

Pacific Power customers expect excellent service. Our Customer Service Guarantees help ensure we’re delivering to the highest standards.

Our guarantees cover commitments on restoring your power, keeping appointments, responding to billing inquiries, notifying you of a planned interruption and more. If we fail to meet a guarantee, we’ll credit your account $50.

In 2013, we met our seven guarantees more than 99 percent of the time. While we’re proud of this achievement, you can count on us to keep improving to provide you the best service possible. For details, call us toll free at 1-888-221-7070 or visit pacificpower.net/guarantees.

Superior service – more than just words

Projects work to improve reliabilityPower outages are getting fewer and farther between for our customers as targeted long-term investments are strengthening our power grid. Since 2007, the number of outages has dropped significantly – by 40 percent. The average duration of a customer outage has dropped 28 percent.

To ensure safe and reliable service, we’re investing in an intensive program to upgrade targeted circuits, use more resilient electric lines, perform substation upgrades and manage vegetation.

We are once again inviting our customers to come join our annual Blue SkySM renewable energy tour. This year’s tour will begin at Turtle Island Foods’ state-of-the-art production facility in Hood River, where customers can learn about a solar array that was funded in part by Blue Sky customers and see the LEED-certified building’s many sustainable features.

Participants will also have an opportunity to visit a wind farm in Goldendale, Washington, where they can get up close to one of the 47, two-megawatt turbines.

Join the Blue Sky renewable energy project tour this year on September 27. Registration for the tour begins July 22. For more information, email [email protected].

Resource plan guides the way Our Integrated Resource Plan is a 20-year roadmap for meeting our customers’ growing energy needs. Updated every two years with extensive public input, our IRP guides decisions on resources that offer the best balance of cost and risk to provide reliable electric service to our customers.

Some recent highlights:

•We’re continuing to pursue energy efficiency to help meet customers’ energy needs.

•We continue to diversify our mix of energy resources to serve customers and benefit the environment. Since 2000, all of the company’s newly constructed power plants have been either natural gas or wind-powered generation.

•The company’s most recent generation project, Lake Side 2 – a 645-megawatt combined-cycle power plant in Utah, began operation in May. With its natural gas and steam turbines, the plant is highly efficient with low emissions.

We’re now beginning our 2015 planning process, again examining the best approach to meet customers’ needs. For details, visit pacificpower.net/irp.
