The 193-member UN General Assembly held elections for new members to the UN's top human rights body. The 18 new members were elected by absolute majority through a secret ballot. Port Blair, Oct 13 On the basis of credible information regarding sighting of suspicious Myanmarese poachers on a boat near Elephant Beach, Havelock on Oct. 2, 2018, a special anti- poaching team under the overall supervision of Shri M.K. Meena, SDPO, Havelock conducted a search operation in the Nine Myanmarese poachers apprehended at Havelock forests of Havelock Island. After the intensive search operation, a dinghy belonging to the poachers was seized by the Police on Oct. 2. On Oct. 3, nine poachers identified to be Myanmarese nationals, were spotted to be hiding in the forest near Elephant Beach. When they were challenged, they attacked the Police search party but were soon overpowered after a scuffle. Thereafter, the poachers were brought to Port Blair where after a joint interrogation by Special Branch and other intelligence agencies, a case was registered against them under appropriate sections of law in Police Station CCS, CID. Port Blair, Oct 13 The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is the nodal Ministry for drug demand reduction. It coordinates and monitors all aspects of drug abuse prevention which include assessment of the extent of the problem, preventive action, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts, Financial assistance for running Rehabilitation Centres for addicts dissemination of information and public awareness. The Ministry has been implementing a Central Sector Scheme of Assistance for Prevention of Alcoholism and Substance (Drugs) Abuse since 1985-86 for identification, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation of addicts through voluntary and other eligible organizations. Under this scheme, financial assistance is given to District Hospitals, Registered Societies formed by the State Governments, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, highest number of votes reflects the country's standing in the international comity. to settle for the silver medal
after he went down in straight
games in the men’s singles
badminton final at the Youth
Olympic Games in Buenos
Aires. The 17-year-old
suffered a 15-21, 19-21 defeat
against China’s Shifeng Li in
42 minutes. The fourth seed
shuttler showed a solid fighting
spirit in the second game as
he managed to save four
match points to inch closer
towards his Chinese
opponent. But Li managed to
held his nerve together and
push for the win without losing
a game.
In the first game, Shifeng took
an early lead and raced to 14-
5 in no time. Sen made a fine
recovery to narrow down the
gap to 13-16 but he could not
sustain it and Shifeng went
ahead 18-13 and then made it
20-14 to have six game points.
Though Sen saved one game
point, the Chinese won the
next one to pocket the first
game in 17 minutes.

in the manner as stipulate in these guidelines.
In this regard, nominations have been invited by the Department of Social Welfare,

distinguished services rendered by them in the field of women / for the cause of
women. The application format for individual and Institutional award may be obtained
from Room No. 205 of the Directorate of Social Welfare at Goalghar. The selection
