Experiments

With my first attempt at creating the broad sheet front page, I have found my chosen layout to be difficult to work with. I dislike the images above the masthead, and I don’t like the placement of the pull quote. Therefore I will not be continuing on with this design and will be staring a new one.

ExperimentsThis is my final broadsheet design. For this one I chose not to use a flat plan, instead creating the basic grid I wanted and then placing my items within these guides. I decided to do it this way after attempting twice to create a broadsheet front cover using flat plans that I has designed, which I felt didn’t look as good. The first thing I did was add the mast head and the logo onto the page, then the green banner with text underneath it. I then added the image, pull quote, copy and cross head. Leaving the headline for last so that I could make sure I had the correct sizes and placement. I also think that when looking at this, the image is to large, and could possibly be better if it were lighter colours, or even black and white. I think the changes I could make to this would be the image, the green pull quote, and possibly have more on the page itself.

Final Broadsheet

This is my final Broadsheet design, I like it because it combines all of my experiments and is interesting to look at, whilst keeping the stereotypical look of a broadsheet newspaper cover. I chose to add green details on the page to add splashes of colour and to make it more interesting to look at. I also added smaller element to the design, like the price, date and smaller article page details.
