Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?

Continuity

• We used the same door opening shot in both our prelim task and main piece. I feel our accuracy in creating continuity improved lots in out main task. From developing from feedback that we got from out Prelim

Match on Action

We also created continuity by following a match on action shot. This was used in our prelim task and worked well with our main task also. The shot we used in our prelim task however differs from the main task. In the main task we recorded Molly walking up the stairs from behind, we then shot from the top of the stairs to get another perspective of Molly walking towards her room, we felt this was in effective in creating tension.

Improvements

Another improvement we made was the use of camera angles. For example in the prelim photo (left) we used an angle where the movements that the character is making aren’t as clear, this shot was a close up however in our main task we used a medium shot to make it more engaging as you can see what is happening more easily.

In the prelim task we filmed the dialogue from beneath the characters, at an upwards angle, after evaluating this we decided it wasn’t effective and made sure not to do it in our main task. Many of our shots were to create the effect that Molly is being followed, we did this by using a hand held camera and videoing from behind and side angles. We felt this was very successful in making the audience feel nervous

Final Cut

The process of making our main task also developed our understanding of how to use Final Cut Pro. For example;

We learnt how to add in music and sound effects on top of the film to make it more realistic and professional.

We were able to cut out frames more accurately to ensure continuity. We also learnt how to add effects onto the clips so that they fit into our

genre of supernatural thriller, for example, the black and white filter.
