Some history and backstory on hip hop-

The hip hop culture has 4 main elements, MC-ing/Rapping, Dj-ing, B- Boying (Breakdancing) and Graffiti. However, the roots of spoken hip hop music are found African culture. Hip hop as music and culture formed during the 1970s. Hip hops golden age is usually referred to as from 1980 to the early 90’s. DJ Kool Herc and Grandmaster Flash are considered some of the pioneers of hip-hop

Typical hip hop imagery -

Hip Hop is mainly male dominated, female hip hop artists do appear but most of the market is controlled by males. It is primarily dominated by black males. It has essences of rebellion and can be associated with all sorts of colours. Women are seen in a sexual way in the genre and can normally be seen dancing with the male singers
