How helpful was the Research? The class analysis ‘Making a murderer’ and ‘Prison Break’. Also homework presentation analysis gave me a visual introduction on the key details and structure of codes and conventions.

Techniques that I used in my film is split screen to separate 4 scenes onto one page to show us walking into the school. First person camera to show that Anzar was getting bullied.Mis-en-scene was used such as props we used was a plastic bag, a shopping trolley, classrooms. We used text to show dialogue throughout the film.

PreproductionIn our A-B story we used Storyboards, Recce, Call sheet,Treatment, Location pictures.

We used a storyboard to help us with our film, we didn’t stick to the plan but then we improved it by adding my scenes with more techniques.

The storyboard helped us by guiding us through each scene.

The Call sheet helped us by telling everyone in the group where to meet and who is in each scene.

The Treatment helped us by telling us what the film is about.

The Location pictures helped us with planning where we were filming.

Strengths & Weaknesses, group roles/tasks? Strengths

Our group collaborated very well with the whole film. We separated tasks on editing and we combined our videos together to get the last result.

We worked well on transitions such as blacking out the screen and using split screen to indicate four things happening at once.

We took turns filming each scene; at one point we were all in the film. I think this is good because most films we watched in class didn’t include all the staff.

Weaknesses

Our group didn’t have a lot of weaknesses.

The main weakness was that we didn’t cut the sound out when we was editing so we could hear some dialogue.

We filmed a scene with objects in the background and when we did another scene the objects wasn’t there.

Which genre conventions did you follow? The genre we used for this short film was a horror. We used spooky music and lots of blackout to indicate it was a horror. The location the story was set in was a school. The whole idea of the story was school girls getting killed by a murderer. The props we used empty classrooms, quiet hall ways and the back of the school.

Audience feedback with your thoughts. Film and poster. Film

The feedback we received was very helpful. We got told:

It was scary to watch because there was a lot of tension used by spooky music and blackouts. Good transitions were used throughout with blackout and split screens. Good contrasting to make the scene look old. It made the film look interesting by jumping from first to third person to show different stages of the film. The only bad thing that was said is to cut out the sound in the background because it was heard.

Poster

The feedback i received for my poster was very honest and critical and helped me for the future. The feedback i got told is:

To zoom into the picture so we can see the image. The title relates to the background which gives it a good effect. It looks like a horror movie poster.

Targets for improvements

Next time cut the background sound when editing so that we can't hear access sound.

Make sure you don’t exaggerate scenes so it doesn’t look too long.

Make sure to hold the camera still so the footage doesn’t look shaky
