Task 2 (a): Storytelling (20%)

Individual work

Conduct a story telling session based on one of the books that you have selected

in Task 1(b). Record your story telling session and send in a copy of your

Story No 2: Upper Primary Classroom.

Genre: Pour quoi Tale

Title of the book: Why the shell of a tortoise looks cracked.

Activities for the story telling and Language Arts.

Activities: Describe & Draw.

1) Teacher prepares 3 word cards and calls up few pupils (randomly) to describe the words through drawing.

2) Pupils try to guess the words based on the drawings / pictures.

3) Teacher introduces the title of the story to pupils.

Activities: Tree Map on 5W’s

1) On the second time of storytelling, teacher distributes papers to pupils which contain questions on 5W’s.

2) As pupils listen / read the story, they complete the tree mapping.

3) Teacher and pupils discuss the answers together.

Activities: Find me in the puzzles.

1) Teacher prepares crossword puzzles on 10 words that can be found in the story.

2) Pupils find the words in 10 minutes.

3) The fastest pupils with all 10 correct answers will win the game.

Activities: Describe the characters in the

story.

1) Teacher gets pupils to describe the characters using circle map.

2) Call up several pupils to read aloud / describe their favourite character(s).

To get them ready for the activity, to arouse pupils’ interest.
