Tamil Feasts is a social enterprise supporting recently settled asylum seekers through the

celebration of food and culture.

Serving up traditional Sri Lankan fare prepared by Tamil men currently seeking asylum in Australia, these feasts create a context in which the cooks are able to share the food heritage of their Sri Lankan homeland with the wider community.

This unique enterprise simultaneously creates a space in which

Australians are able to show their support for individuals who are presently undergoing the difficult experience of seeking refuge in a foreign land

– all the while partaking in some seriously tasty food!

As well as hosting weekly dinners, Tamil Feasts is available to cater for your next function or event. For Christmas

parties, birthday celebrations, staff events or social gatherings, Tamil Feasts is able to provide for all your catering needs.

THE FOOD You can choose from a variety of traditional curries, chutneys, vadai, dahl and kormas made by our proud Tamil cooks Sri, Nirma, Niro and Nigethan. It is a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant colour, spice and flavour of authentic Tamil cuisine, rarely found outside Sri Lanka. We are able to:

• Cater for vegetarians, vegans, and people with specific food allergies • Make adjustments to our menus to suit a variety of budgets and service

We can offer onsite cater here at CERES provided that the space is available. Catering fees are outlined below and will include a space hire fee.

Wines & Bubbles available at Bar: $30 a bottle La Purisima ‘Estio’ Blanco. A whack of fresh-cut fruit: sliced pine apple, apple, grapefruit and a little white floral top-note. 100% pure varietal on the palate, it has creamy open feel, and just a tweak of nutty acid/earth definition. Simple, gentle and harmonious. $45 a bottle 2014 Capcanes Mas Donis Garnacha Blanco Light and refreshing white wine. This is a nicely textural wine, really easy going and has great metal - mineral finish to it. TAMIL FEASTS ONLY SELLS THIS BY THE BOTTLE $30 a bottle La Purisima ‘Estio’ Roja. Finess, good aromatics and an herby spicy nose. It is a vine of medium strength with a good yield. Wonderful gentle drinking. 45 a bottle 2014 Godelia Viernes Mencia A lighter style red wine. This wine comes from Bierzo, Spain, it features a lovely red dirt smell of the clay, Viernes has cherry-plum fruit laced with dark cooking spices (clove, nutmeg, pepper corn). Important Information for Onsite Catering at CERES   Venue Hire Fee Please note that in addition to the catering costs, for exclusive use of The Lower Merri or The Merri Table there will be a $200 room hire fee. Weekend Surcharge There is a 15% surcharge on weekends to cover staff costings. Extra In additional to providing venue hire and catering, CERES has the following equipment available for hire:

• PA and microphone for speeches $150 • Data projector and screen $80

Extra Staffing Costs Each quote above includes staffing – if extra hours are required additional fees will be discussed and included. Alcohol The Lower Merri & Merri Table is licensed until 11pm. The Merri Table’s verandah area is only licensed to 9pm. We ask all guests to move on to their after party at 10 pm. Please see our drinks list to see what we have available for catering. Amplified Music Amplified music other than background music is to cease at 10pm, and shall not exceed permissible noise levels as specified in the State Environment Protection Policy No. N-2.   Liability The client agrees to pay for any breakages or damage caused by them or their guests during the event.     Set-up Hire of the site does not include any special set up needs for your event or any decorations etc.   Storage The hirer is expected to remove all equipment that has been brought in immediately after the event, unless prior arrangements have been made. CERES accepts no responsibility for the loss or theft of any items.   Traffic and Vehicle Access Parking is available at the main CERES entrance and at the Cretan Brothers Car Park on Stewart Street.

  We will be in touch to discuss menu selections. 50 % DEPOSIT UPON BOOKING.  We require full payment 2 weeks before your booking. Minor changes to the order will be accepted before the booking.   Cancellation Fees 7 days notice — 50% refund Less than 3 days notice — no refund.   By placing your order with us, you accept these conditions.
