Table of Variations in the Epistles and Gospels in the 1662, 1928, and 1962 Prayer Books. T his table compares the epistles and gospels in e 1662 Book of Common Prayer: International Edition with those contained in two other prayer books: BCP 1928 of the Episcopal Church, and BCP 1962 of the Anglican Church of Canada. ese books all use the traditional one-year lectionary of the Western church (unlike more recent prayer books, which tend to use adaptations of the Revised Common Lectionary). Nevertheless, the 1928 and 1962 prayer books do make changes to the readings that are characteristic of the Anglican tradition (i.e. the ones found in the 1662 prayer book). is table will allow the reader to see those changes. It will also make it easier for someone familiar with either the 1928 or 1962 prayer book to use the new international edition of the 1662.
