song.Ipurposelytookthesephotosatnighttorepresentthedarknessofthelyrics.

Thesongtalksaboutagirlwhoisstrugglingwithlivingherlifeandsometimesfeels

likeendingitwouldbebetterthanliving,whichledmetochoosedarknessasmy

aestheticinspirationforthephotos.

Thefirstphotooftheemptytablesrepresentsthefirstlineoftheverse,

“there’sanemptinessinsideher.”Thevacantseatsatthetables,whichare

highlightedinthephotousingtheruleofthirdsconcept,representthewayshefeels

alonewithnobodytoenjoylifewith.ItjustsohappenedthatafterIshotthisphoto,I

realizedthegreyconcretecouldbetabbeda“greystreet,”whichIthoughtaddedan

ironicelementtotheimage.

Withthesecondpicture,Ireallylookedtocapturethecolorredandreiterate

itssignificance.Thereareacouplelinesfromtheversethatarerepresentedwith

thisimageliketheonesaying“redbloodbleedingfromhernow.”Thepartofthe

songsaying“usingcolorsboldandbright”wasalsorepresentedthroughthispicture

becausetheredcolorisboldandbrightcomparedtoitsdarksurroundings.Iuseda

longshotcameraangletoreallycapturethecolorofthebush.

Thethirdimagerepresentstheline“shefeelslikekickingoutallthe

windows.”Thewindowssymbolizehowshefeelstrappedandwantstojustbreak

themdowntoendherlife.Ichosealongandwideshotforthisphototoemphasize

thewindows.

Thenextimageofthewaterfaucetrepresentstheline“she’ddoanythingto

fillit(theemptinessinsideher)in.”Ichosetopositionthefaucetontheleftsideof

theimagewiththedarknessinthebackgroundbecausethefaucetisn’tactually

runningsoshecan’t“fillitin”anddarknessliesahead.Ishotthispictureusinga

low,closetothegroundangletoreallymakethefaucetstandout.

Thelastimagerepresentsthemeaningoftheentiresong,whichis,life’spath

requiresyoutosometimesstopandslowdownandtherewillbemultiplestops

alongtheway.Thestopsignswerefocusedoninthepicturebyusingalongangle

thatcapturedtheminalinealongthe“greystreet.”
