Dec. 17, 2019 2872 Summerview Court, Westbank BC Present: Hailey Causton, Jordan Coble (phone), Carmella Alexis (phone), Kim Teichroeb (nominated new board member), Michele Johnson (E.D.), Krista Lindley (TKI) Absent: Dustin Schmauder (nominated new board member) Overview: To present on SLH activities between July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 (2018/19 Year 4 of adult fluency program), and projected activities for 2019/2020. SLH graduated its 4 year fluency program with outstanding classroom delivery (1,600 hours), student achievements and assessments in June 2019. SLH formed a significant partnership this year with Ti Kwu Ti Xilx Indigenous Association (TKI) and they are currently running a mini-nest with 2 toddlers and 3 staff and will expand to 4 toddlers in January 2020 and six staff. CONSTITUTION (Missionstatement)2. The purpose(s) of the society is (are):
TheSyilxLanguageHouseAssociationisanon-profitsocietyformedwiththeexpresspurposeofcreatingandsupportingnewNsyilxcn(Okanagan)speakersinSyilxcommunities.Wepromotetheuse,preservation,andrevitalizationofNsyilxcnbyactivelyrunningimmersionclasses,trainingteachers,recordingElders,publishinglanguagematerials,supportinganactivefamilyoflearnersandspeakers,andraisingtheprofileofNsyilxcnandIndigenouslanguagesincommunity.
BYLAWS The bylaws of the society are those set out in Schedule B to the Society Act, with the following variations, deletions and additions:
25 (2) will now read: The number of directors must be 3 or a greater number determined from time to time at a general meeting.
44 (2) will now read: If a secretary treasurer holds office, the total number of directors must not be less than 3.
Addition: 16 (4) Members or directors may attend annual general meeting by phone, conference call, skype, or other electronic means.
