Note from the Pope
"On this day full of light, the prophetic
proclamation resounds: “For to us a child
is born."
The power of this Child, Son of God and
Son of Mary, is not the power of this world,
based on might and wealth; it is the power
of love...
On this day of joy, we are all called to
contemplate the Child Jesus, who gives
hope once again to every person on the face
of the earth. By his grace, let us with our
voices and our actions give witness to
solidarity and peace. Merry Christmas to all!"
-Christmas Message 2016
Yes, a month has raced
by since La Bodega's
first FILL the TRUCK
event.
What a huge success, thanks to the generosity
of St. Albert's folks! Let's see if we can top last
month's contributions at the FIRST weekend of
the MONTH Masses on January 6 and 7. Look for
the seasoned green truck by the church doors,
waiting to bear your nonperishable food treasures
to our pantry. Monetary donations and prayers
feed our ministry as well. Stay strong and positive
in 2018 and beyond.
Thank you and God bless, Marsha Franke and the La Bodega Volunteers
“Do not be afraid to bring Christ into every area of your life.” -Pope Francis

Gracias!
Once again, the generosity of our parish community was on full display as over 300 children and teens received gifts this Christmas! Thank you to all who provided a gift and the youth who gave of their time to set up the tree, create the heart ornaments and helped sort the gifts. A huge thank you to Jayne and Anton Milavec who have coordinated the Giving Tree for many years. Their assistance and guidance with the coordination of this huge endeavor is greatly appreciated! A heart-felt thank you to parents and volunteers who brought and helped direct the children in the Christmas pageant. The energy, enthusiasm and faithfulness of the children is a great reminder of the Joy of Christ that is reborn in our hearts and in our parish every Christmas! Thanks go out also to Oscar Perez for working with and leading the youth choir! Carlos, Regina and Sal

Dear Newman Community,
Merry Christmas! Blessings on you and your families this joyous season. May this Christmas be a time of abundant joy and great rejoicing for each of you! A Christmas Blessing -May there be harmony in all your relationships. May sharp words, envious thoughts, and hostile feelings be dissolved. -May you give and receive generously. May this love echo in your heart like the joy of church bells on a clear December day. -May each person who comes into your life be greeted as another Christ. May the honor given the Babe of Bethlehem be that which you extend to every guest who enters your presence. -May the hope of this sacred season settle in your soul. May it be the foundation of courage for you when times of distress occupy your inner land. -May the wonder and awe that fills the eyes of children be awakened within you. May it lead you to a renewed sense of awareness and appreciation of whatever you too easily take for granted.
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing.”
Isaiah 9:1-2
-May the bonds of love for one another be
strengthened as you gather with your family and
friends around the table of festivity and nourishment.
-May you daily open the gift of your life and be grateful
for the hidden treasure it contains.
-May the coming year be one of good health for you.
May you have energy and vitality. May you care well
for your body, mind, and spirit.
-May you keep your eye on the Star within you and
trust this Luminescent Presence to guide and direct
you each day.
-May you go often to the Bethlehem of your heart and
visit the One who offers you peace. May you bring this
peace into our world.
Peace! Mona
