Group Parent with Child Swim LessonsThis YMCA program provides the highest quality of early water experiences for children age 6 -36 months. Four levels of progression will see your child through water adjustment and onto basic skills. Program instruction is directed toward helping you work with your child. Each child is always accompanied by one parent. Classes maybe combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Shrimp Level (Age:6-8 months); Level 2: Kipper Level (Age:9-12 months); Level 3: Inia Level (Age:13-18 months); Level 4: Perch Level (Age:24-36 months)

This nationally certified program is for children ages 12-36 months. Class includes a 30-minute gym and 30-minute S.K.I.P. class in the pool. The gym component consists of songs, group activities, and activities to strengthen large-motor, small motor, and socialization skills. The 30-minute water experience teaches basic skills through songs, safety activities and free time with parent.

Group Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3-5)This program offers children their first experience in the water without a parent.

Children are taught basic skills that are the building blocks of swimming, including: water propulsion, floating, body awareness and independence. They are also taught some general aquatic safety and pool games. Children will be taught with and without the use of various IFD's (instructional flotation devices). Classes maybe combined based on enrollment.

Level 1: Pike with Parent - Is your child just not ready to be alone for swim lessons? This is a transitional class in which we will wean your child away from mom and dad. The next level from here would be Pike. Your child must be 3-years old during the session.

Level 1: Pike - The first level of lessons is for beginning swimmers. Swimmers should be able to listen to instructions and follow directions. Swimmers will learn the basic paddle stroke on the front, back and sides. They will also be taught kicking skills and putting their face in the water.

Level 2: Eel - Swimmers will learn to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers will also learn to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 20 seconds with an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on their front, back and side for 10 yards with an IFD, and 5 feet without.

Level 3: Ray - In this class swimmers will learn to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing, front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing, side alternating paddle, back alternating paddle and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to jump in without assistance, float on their front and back for 20 seconds with or without an IFD. Swimmers should also paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards with an IFD and 15 feet without.

Level 4: Starfish - In this class swimmers will learn to do a standing dive; basic front crawl rotary breathing, basic breaststroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke, basic sidestroke 25 yards; and tread water 1 minute. Prerequisites: To enter this level, swimmers should be able to front and back float 30 seconds without an IFD; front alternating paddle with rhythmic breathing, front symmetrical paddle with rhythmic breathing, side alternating paddle, back alternating paddle and back symmetrical paddle for 25 yards with an IFD and 20 feet without.

Gym & Swim - This unique class offers the best of both worlds! In the gym your child will play games and use equipment that will help them develop balance, coordination and creativity. In the pool your child will have a mix of traditional swim lessons and play time. Depending on the class size, age and ability of participants, the class may be split into groups. Bring your child to the gym with their swim suit on under their clothes and pick them up in the pool. All children must be completely potty trained.
