We recognize that to carry out any project or task as a church there is need for a clear and common vision, careful planning, ongoing training, and united effort.

III. Clear and Common Vision

To have a vision means to know where we are heading. It means to have clear direction and a definite purpose.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18.

With this clear view before us, we should be able to say with apostle Paul, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13, 14.

How can it be said of the church, “Ye are the light of the world,” unless the members of the church are actually imparting light? Let those who have charge of the flock of Christ awake to their duty, and set many souls to work.”—Testimonies, vol. 6, p. 436.

Many are the appeals for unity in the Bible. A significant one however is found in John 17:21: “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”
