Make sure your hero is original and hasn’t appeared in a story or comic before. Your creation needs to come from your imagination and your imagination only!
1
Don’t just think about how your superhero looks – what can they do? What special powers do they have? What makes your hero heroic and out of the ordinary? Powers can be silly or serious!
2
Create a hero you’d be excited to read about. If your hero doesn’t make you feel interested and eager to know more, it won’t make anyone else feel that way either.
3
Heroes don’t have to be adults – they don’t even have to be human. Heroes can be animals, they can even be objects brought to life (think Disney’s Cars). Get creative!
4
Heroes don’t have to save the world. Some of the best heroes are everyday people making the world better in small ways.5
BRAINSTORM IT! Start scribbling your ideas here.

One way to work out your superhero’s power is to think about the problems they could solve. We’ve put some problems in the left column. Fill in the right column with your ideas for special powers to fix each problem. We’ve given you an example to help you get started.

Your family and friends forget who you are
A tiny race of aliens invades the planet
Your new teacher keeps setting hours of homework every night

Now start with the power and work out what problem it could solve.
Once you have some ideas for powers and problems, you can start thinking about the type of character who might have them. TIP!

If you like a footballer because they always score goals, ask yourself why they score so many goals. What skills do they have? Could it turn into a special power? Lightning speed? Bendy legs? Turbo kicks?
TIP!
Thinking about the heroes you admire should inspire you too. In the left column, list your favourite fictional heroes from comics, stories or films. On the right, list your heroes from real life – they could be family, friends, sports stars, world leaders, charity workers, explorers, or people from TV, film, music, fashion, You Tube or gaming. They could even be animals!
Write a few words to say why you like each hero too
