Wrecked!

Most people miss God's best because they're not looking at God, but at everybody else.

Let PLEASURE guide you“Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.” But that also proved to be MEANINGLESS.” Eccl 2:1

Let PLEASURE guide youHappy people don’t chase after happiness,

They chase after God and happiness finds them

Let SUCCESS consume youCan success ruin your life?

Page 11: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

“One question brought me to the edge of the abyss when I was 50 years old.”

“Confessions” by Leo Tolstoy

Page 12: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

The question is this: "What will come of what I do today and tomorrow? What will come of my entire life? or expressed differently,

Why should I live?

Page 13: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

Why should I wish for or do anything? or to put it another way, is there any meaning in life that will not be destroyed by my inevitably approaching death? My deeds, [my work, my accomplishments] whatever they may be, will be forgotten sooner or later, and I myself will be no more. Why then do anything?

Page 14: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

I could not attach a rational meaning to a single act in my entire life. The only thing that amazed me was how I had failed to realize this from the very beginning. How could anyone fail to see this? That's what is amazing."

Page 15: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

"It is possible to live as long as life intoxicates us, but once we are sober we cannot help seeing that it's all a delusion. There's nothing funny or witty about it at all. It's only cruel and stupid."

Chasing Success Intoxicates

“Wherever riches have increased, the essence of religion has decreased in the same proportion.” — John Wesley

Page 17: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

So I HATED life, because it is all so useless. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.Eccl 2:17

Page 18: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

I hated all the things I had toiled for under the sun, because I must leave them to the one who comes after me. And who knows whether that person will be wise or foolish?

Page 19: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

Yet they will have control over all the fruit of my toil into which I have poured my effort and skill under the sun. This too is meaningless.

Page 20: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

So my heart began to despair over all my toilsome labor under the sun. For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.

Page 21: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun?

Page 22: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

Page 23: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

Success defines my Identity…You will be consumed by WINNINGYou will be caught in the COMPARSION TRAP

Page 24: Standing on the Edge of an Abyss

I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.  Eccl. 4:4

If Success defines my Identity…You will be consumed by WINNINGYou will be caught in the COMPARSION TRAPYou will COMPROMISE your CHARACTER

“Some people have missed the most important thing in life—they don’t know God. May God’s mercy be upon you.”

1 Timothy 6:21

Lord, give me the wisdom to know what's right and the courage to do what's right - EVEN WHEN IT'S HARD.
