The Number One Agenda…Five Goals

1) Develop philanthropic resources to assist college dropouts with retention, persistence, and completion of a certificate or degree program

2) Promote an increase in the number of high quality dual credit programs that will benefit students preparing for college and career

3) Develop a model that will meet the intent of performance funding legislation and allocate a portion of funding based on performance

4) Further IBHE’s advancement strategy through the development of professional, branding material such as brochures and signage

5) Compile the state accountability report for Goal 3 using the performance measures and benchmarks of the Illinois Public Agenda

Students Re-entering College

Goals 1 and 2: Increase support for adult learners to finish degrees; expand opportunities for adult learners through regional partnerships to expand opportunities; and improve information and assistance available to students

Dual Credit Programs

Goals 1 and 2: Reduce geographic disparities in educational attainment; improve college readiness through access to quality postsecondary and high school partnerships; and help students achieve their educational objectives faster

Performance Funding

Goals 1 and 3: Develop a state incentive to assist adults in completing a degree; find institutional operating efficiencies to reduce costs while maintaining quality; and increase targeted funding to increase number of degrees in critical needs areas

• July 6, 2011: Executive Director George Reid provided direction for the staff of Diversity and Outreach to further implement activities aligned with closing the statewide achievement gap identified in the Illinois Public Agenda for Career and College Success.

 • The project, as identified by Dr. Reid, involves a one-year unit plan as

follow-up to the “90 Day Project” which identified and helped to re-enroll students who were in good academic standing, but stopped out of college and yet needed to complete a college degree.

 • The “One Year Project” was designed to develop philanthropic

resources to assist in the continued educational opportunity of Illinois students through the completion of certification and degree attainment.
