Dear friends,
During the Simi Valley Dream Cuisine Festival last Sunday, several times strangers stopped me to express how incredible St. Rose of Lima Parish is to host such an incredible
event as our wine and food tasting festival—and all for the care of the poor! I couldn’t agree with them more. I am so lucky and proud to be the pastor of this parish because of who you are and what you do.
As you can imagine, it takes a monumental effort to plan, set up and execute our festival. The planning starts every year, the day after the festival. That’s why I want to personally thank Cliff Wirtz (SVDC Festival Chairman) and his wife Paula, Adam Cross (Volunteers), Faustino Villanueva and Dave Kern (Supplies), Norm Ouellette and Don Runyon (Set up and Clean up), Tony DeMarco (Restaurants), Jeff Sage (Wine and Beer), Bob Smith and Mark Griffin (Stage and Sound), Rick Ostrich (Ticket Sales and I.T. and Programs), Lisa Hartigan (Centerpieces), Debbie Conlon (Silent Auction), Ray Scarpa and Ed Hise (Webmaster and Event Program Publishers), Carmen Gonzalez (Event Chairperson Liaison) and Penny Liberatore, the Rectory Staff and the School Parents & Staff, and all those parishioners who volunteered to serve in some capacity at last Sunday’s festival. I would also like to congratulate the winners of the Raffle:
First prize: Ellie Monroe
Second prize: Rick Montemayor
Third prize: Lee Olson
I am truly grateful. May God bless you.
Yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph Shea

St. Rose of Lima School Student Non-Discrimination Policy
The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color or national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, sex or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some archdiocesan schools operate as single sex schools. While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.

EVENING BIBLE & FAITH STUDY Join us on Thursdays in Rm 8 at 7:00pm for our Bible Study on Ephesians. A limited number of the accompany study sets are available at the rectory for $19.95. Some scholarships are available.
Discover Your Inheritance Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church. This letter tells us about the nature of the Church – as a body, as a household, as a mystery, as a communion, as a bride, and as an army. It shows us the great inheritance that awaits us as sons and daughters, adopted fully into the family of God. It reveals how God’s great love for us can transform our daily lives if we allow it. Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance is an 8-part Bible study that will enrich your faith, and show you how to live it out. In this study, you will: Discover what it means to be not just a son or daughter of God, but an heir to all he has to give. Learn about the great mystery of how we can love one another as Christ loves the Church. Find out that you have a place in God’s “plan of sheer goodness". For more info: Dr. Neil Fanning 217-4300.
Adult Faith Formation Do you want to learn more about your Catholic Faith, but don’t know where to start? Do you have questions, but don’t know where to get the answers? Do you want to lead a more fulfilling prayer life, but don’t know how to begin? Do you desire to live a life of discipleship, but don’t know exactly what that means? Have you received Baptism, but are still in need of the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation? Do you just want to have a faith-filled discussion with other Catholics? Then come and join us for Adult Faith Formation EVERY Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:00 pm in Room 9 of the School. Come as you are, and when you can, all are welcome. This will be on-going adult catechesis. For more information call the Office of Faith Formation at 526-5513. “Is it Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else satisfies you.” Pope St John Paul II
