Statue of Our Lady of Fatima is coming to South Florida Fair
We are excited to let you know we will again be
presenting “Our Lady of Fatima” statue at the
South Florida Fair
January 18th – February 3rd, 2019
This statue was hand carved and blessed by Fatima Bishop John Venancio and our own dear Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito.
A large number of devoted, prayerful volunteers are needed to help
with staffing the booth. If you are willing to help, please call or text Carol 561-506-6601 or email [email protected]
Do you attend Mass regularly, but hunger for more? Do you long for a deeper relationship with Our Lord, but are not sure how to get there? Were you ever asked about our Catholic faith, but were not sure of the answers? Are you pondering some questions yourself and feeling led to pursue your faith more deeply?
Then SYMBOLON Adult Faith Formation and RCIA is for you! The goal of Symbolon is two-fold, to satisfy the requirements for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and to re-evangelize the faithful, further forming and encouraging lifelong disciples from the heart of the Church. Symbolon invites participants to not just know the faith, but to continually grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings at 6:30PM in the Siena Room of the Parish Hall. It is not too late to join us! To register or if you have any questions, please contact Ed Wilson at (772) 215-6923 or call the Parish Office. Registration information is also available on our website at www.stmartindp.com.
Come Join Us!
“Through Baptism each child is inserted into a gathering of friends who
never abandon him in life or in death..This group of friends, this family of
GOD, into which the child is now admitted, will always accompany him,
even on days of suffering and in life’s dark nights: it will give him
consolation, comfort, and light.”

Christ Child Project Needs New Volunteers
While we have enjoyed the ministry of The Christ Child Project the last 7 years, it is time to ask for replacements. This ministry can easily be divided into 7 categories for 2-8 individual people or couples. Doing so will make this Ministry very doable. Bev will be happy to meet with the committee in late September, so that each volunteer understands the Project and his/her duty. Outlined below is what will be the responsibility of each category: 1. Make 325 ornaments from colored paper. Bev has a cutting machine that she will donate to the project and teach anyone interested how to operate this simple machine. Bev gets this done at her leisure over the summer months.
2. Print 65 forms for parents to fill out and have them at the Food Pantry by October 1st. Bev will email the forms to you as they are complete. All you would need to do is change the dates on the forms. Check with the volunteers at the Pantry once a week (approx. 6 weeks) and collect the forms that have been turned in.
3. Pick up all the forms from volunteer #2 and those remaining at the Food Pantry about 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and look over the children's wish list. Decide on the appropriate gift for each child and make labels to go onto the ornaments. I suggest one person do this step to eliminate duplication.
4. and 7. (combined, as neither step takes a long time) Decorate the trees in the vestibules of our Church the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Arrange the time with Annie. We usually decorate before the 4:00 P.M. Mass. We are always done in 45 minutes or less. Check after your weekend Mass if the ornaments need to be rearranged to please the eye. The ornaments have always been taken the first 2 weeks after hanging.
7. This project should have two people. The weekend before parents pick up the gifts, we give a reminder call to all the families, as there is only one time available to pick up. On Wednesday night, between 5:00 and 7:00 P.M. and usually the week before Christmas, the parents of the children will come to the Gift Shop/Food Pantry entrance to pick up their children's gifts. This step has been combined with Step 4.
5. This project could use 2-8 people. Approximately the second and third week of December, the gifts are returned to the entrance of the Gift Shop/Food Pantry. Someone has to be at the door before and after ALL Masses on these two weekends. 4 people could each take a week. The gifts are locked up until they are given. Lorie (at the office of the Rectory) would be your contact person for this step.
6. After all the gifts have been returned on the second Sunday, you would come to the Education Building at 1:00 and start sorting all the returned gifts and put them in plastic bags according to family. This step should have at least 2 adults plus the teens. We get help from 4 teens from our Confirmation Class, who do a great job!
We do double check and sometimes have to shop or get gift cards if people forget to return their ornament. We have from Sunday until Wednesday night to complete this step. Please prayerfully consider this ministry, pick the # you would like to do and commit to Lorie at the Office. Thank you and may God bless you, Lee and Bev Walgrave
