This year’s theme for Faith Formation is “Living as
Missionary Disciples.” But just what does it mean to be
a missionary disciple?
In Baptism, we (or our parents) are invited to state just
what it is that we are asking of the Church. When we
ask for Baptism, we are asking to become disciples of
Jesus Christ.
Perhaps you’ve not thought of yourself as a disciple of
Christ but only as a member of his Church. One can be
a member of the Church without living a life of
discipleship. To be a disciple of Jesus is to choose an
alternate way of living—one in which God reigns. It is
a life marked by selfless love. It is a life marked by joy
and hope—a confidence that, in God, all shall be well.
For many Catholics, discipleship is a relatively new
concept. Today, more than ever, Catholics are being
challenged to change our thinking about discipleship
and to realize that each of us—by virtue of our
Baptism—is called to enter intentionally into
discipleship with Jesus Christ. We are then called to
communicate this living relationship to others.
So what can you do to deepen your own intentionality
as a disciple of Jesus?
Recognize and accept the fact that you cannot sustain
yourself when it comes to spiritual fulfillment.
Embrace the fact that only God can sustain you and
that he offers his intervention through Jesus Christ, his
Son.
Let go of those things in which, until now, you have
been seeking fulfillment.
Respond each and every day to Jesus’ invitation to
follow him.
Strive to get to know Jesus through reading the Gospels
and inspirational literature, regular prayer, receiving
the Eucharist, and serving the needs of others. Share
the joy of the Gospel with others.
Blessings+

Would you like to teach?
We are looking for a grade 6 catechist to add to our group.
In grade 6 we explore the Old and New Testaments. There
are a dozen or so videos that enhance the lessons. Please
spend some time in prayer and consider this very rewarding
Living as a Missionary Disciple! Contact the Faith
Formation Office if you are interested, or if you think of
someone you think would be a great addition to our
program, and I will call and invite them! One other area the
program needs help with is the prayers the children learn for
their grade level. You do not need to be here every week for
this. Call the Faith Formation Office and I can give you
more information. Lastly, please keep us in your daily
prayers. Great things happen when we pray for one another!
