KUDOS AND UPDATES

Children's Liturgy of the Word will begin again on Sunday, August 27 during the 10 AM Mass. Prior to the Scripture readings, our younger children will be invited to Conger Hall to hear the Word of God in a manner understandable to them. It is a joyful opportunity for the children to share their faith with others! For questions or additional information, please contact our catechist, Barbara Shields either by phone 518-210-5406 or email: [email protected]. Kudos to all of our wonderful parishioners who answered the Archbishop’s Annual Catholic Appeal this last spring! St. Cecilia parishioners have pledged $100,421 towards the Appeal, and this means St. Cecilia Parish has the potential for a $10,856 rebate if all pledges are paid in full. Thank you for your support of the Catholic Church in Western Washington!

Library News: Joan of Arc, by Mark Twain. Fascinating and historically accurate is the story of Joan of Arc told by America’s greatest storyteller. Mark Twain spent years of research on this book and considered to be his most important work. Check it out!

The parish library is looking for some more volunteers. Library volunteers work one Sunday about every 6 weeks, and may also be asked to help with the book sale and/or taking inventory once a year. Please contact Sonja Countryman at (206) 780-1134 or email at [email protected].

Over 5 full bags of Project Backpack supplies have been delivered to Helpline from St. Cecilia Parish. St. Vincent de Paul thanks our generous parishioners for their donations to help children start the school year well-supplied!

The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) is open for registration. Classes are offered from Kindergarten through high school. Our programs are led by volunteers under Terry Markuly. Registration forms can be found on the parish website, in the back of the church, and in the parish office. Return forms to the parish office. All children and youth are welcome to participate!

Safe Environment Class: Together, we can protect our children. St. Cecilia Parish is presenting Protecting God’s Children, required of all employees and those volunteers with unsupervised, ongoing access to minors and vulnerable adults. This is an onsite class for volunteers and employees that have NOT taken the class previously. Date: Thursday, August 31, 2017 Time: 6:15 PM Location: St. Monica Room Length of Session: 3 hours You will need to register online by visiting www.virtusonline.org and clicking on the registration link found on the right side of the page.
