Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of The Universe – Nov.24 & 25, 2018
(Year B) Dn 7:13-14 ; Rv 1:5-8 ; Jn 18:33b-37
Spiritual Corner Who is Jesus?
We all know Jesus is the son of Mary and Joseph, the Son of God, and the second person of the Trinity, a miracle worker, a great teacher, very kind and merciful, full of forgiveness and love. But how often do we address Jesus as King, not any king, but the crucified Messiah King? Do we recognize Jesus has been given all authority and power to reign over heaven and earth? He is king not only over the people of Israel, but over all nations as well. (Daniel 7: 14)
What is the meaning of kingship for us? King-ship today seems outdated, out of touch with the democratic societies we live, where everyone is treated equal and free. God at first did not want to give his people of Israel a king. Why? Because God alone was their King, their Abba and their Lord, they needed no other. Nonetheless, God relented and promised his people that through David’s descendants, he would establish a Ruler and King that would last forever. “I will establish his line for ever, and his throne as long as the heaven endures.” (Psalm 89: 29).
Jesus is that promised King, he has come to free his people, and the whole world, from bondage to sin, condemnation and death, and to deliver us from Satan’s kingdom of deception, oppression, and destruction. Jesus came to conquer hearts and souls for an everlasting king-
dom- a kingdom ruled not by force or fear – but by the power of God’s righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Which ruler and kingdom will you serve? The kingdom of darkness ruled by Satan, or the king-dom of light, ruled by Jesus Christ, who is the true Light of the World. If we choose to serve Jesus, he will open our eyes to the light of his truth and guide us on the path to our true eternal homeland with God. We will live in a community of love, compassion, forgiveness and hope. If we choose to serve Satan, he will lead us down a path of de-struction, violence, division, and death, a life of sin, pride, and greed.
Will you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and King? Will you submit yourself to his reign? If yes, we will become a citizen of an everlasting kingdom ruled by God’s love, peace, righteousness and joy.
Come Lord Jesus! Come King Jesus! Yours, Deacon Thomas Kung

Evangelization: In the Service of Peace
That the language of love and dialogue may al-ways prevail over the language of conflict.
Vocation
Today we hail Christ as our King. He is The Victor over the power of death Who loves us and freed us from our sins by His own blood, and Who by Baptism has made us a royal nation of priests in the service of His Father and our God. He Who is King continues to choose men and women to serve as priests, sisters, brothers or deacons, so that the faithful may know Him, love Him and serve Him as well. If God is calling you, contact Fr. Chris Lemieux, Vocation Director, Archdiocese of Toronto. Phone: 416-968-0997 email: [email protected]
Our parish Advent Confession will be held on Wednesday, Dec.19, 7:00pm-9:30pm. There will be a number of priests to hear confession in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Let us grasp this opportunity to make a good confession, to reconcile with God and our neighbors, and to prepare our-selves for Christmas.
Special Diocesan Day of Confessions
In response to the instruction from the Archdiocese of Toronto, our Parish has chosen December 11, 2018 (Tuesday) to be the special Diocesan Day of Confessions. The time will be 10:00am-12:00pm.

Shuttle bus service will be available that evening. We strongly encourage parishioners to invite non-Christian friends and families to join us at the event.

Advent—Give Love
Our parish's "Giving Tree" will be set up in the lobby from now until Dec.2.
