ALSC Newsletter Volume 84, Issue 1 SPRING 2018 Here we are gearing up for 2018 with me in my 10 th year as your President of the ALSC. I, for one, am quite saAsfied with how the club has evolved. It has been quite a journey for me to witness firsthand how personal interacAon with your neighbors through club events can lead to and build such a unique and wonderful network of friendships seldom seen in these modern Ames within America’s inner ciAes or suburban areas. I like to call it ‘Old School’. With that said, I know there is always room for improvement so it is my goal to issue a survey by mail to all members asking you to let us know how we are doing. Your parAcipaAon in this survey will allow the club to conAnue and tweak events that you favor while perhaps doing major overhauls on others and possibly eliminaAng those events that receive the lowest raAngs or get the least interest. Here are my main points of interest for 2018: BARGES: With barge construcAon finished we are now compleAng the final paperwork to make it all official. I am happy to report that working within the budget of $42,531.10 (consisAng of money collected from the donaAon drive and barge sales) we were able to complete the construcAon of all 7 barges and 4 anchor systems. We were also able to set in reserve $500 to buy 2 more anchoring systems and retain $2,693.54 for a Maintenance Fund to be used solely for use in repairing damage incurred to barges while 1 ALSC BOARD President: Lonnie Goulet [email protected]Vice President: Jim Todd [email protected]Treasurer. Doug Hill (seated) & friends enjoying the hydroplane races from the barges anchored in the middle of the lake
Here we go again, in a few weeks we’ll be welcoming at least eleven new neighbors to our wonderful community.
Debbie Beck and I really enjoy our time going out and meeting these new residents getting settled into their new homes.
The welcoming packet we put together and hand out contains information about the ALSC but also about local services including bus transportation, light rail, restaurants, shopping, tours, sightseeing trips and much more. It also includes a free Highline Bowling Alley Coupon donated by Val and Pat Johns that includes bowling for the whole family, a very nice event for sure.
Remember, we depend on all of you to keep us posted on any one who has moved in, just email either of us at:

Mrs. Clause said I should send a letter of thanks to all the kids I visited on Angle Lake this year. You all are so special & the stories I heard from each and every one of you touched my Heart! So you should have received what you asked for on Christmas day.
It was nice to see that for the majority of my visits, the kids’ teeth & ears were very clean this year. The main captains of the boats Launcier & Brucier did a great job of decorating their boats. In fact, now Rudolph has complained to the Senior Lighting Elf about adding more colored lights to the reins next year, along with louder music so everyone on the lake knows that Santa is coming! Next year. Mrs. Clause and our head Elf have been ordered to add more Candy to the packets that Kids receive as a nice reward for the kids keeping their teeth clean. Mrs , Clause asked me if I thought the kids that have visited me the last 6 years were growing up smarter and more polite than I could ever imagine, and . . .I gave a resounding YES!
I was touched by the requests by some of the older kids this year, asking for bikes for their younger Brothers and sisters, it just show’s how kind and well raise these children are by their Parents. Now for next year . . . don’t forget to organize your neighbor’s to come to your dock and let my elf’s know you want me to stop , so we can plan our tour with Great efficiency ! Finally, our Head Elf Coordinator will require one favorite song to be sung by all kids when Santa arrives & departs next year, this is to enhance the children voices in time for Christmas Eve.
So until next Christmas, good bye and good luck to all and to all a good year!
Love,
Santa & Mrs. Claus
