I trust our Mums and special people had a lovely Mother’s Day and enjoyed your present that was made with love. A big thank you Mrs O who is our Creative Director when it comes to our Mother’s day gifts.
Our 2019 Swimming Program is now completed. Everything ran smoothly despite being a very busy time. Thank you to our
helpers especially to Greg and our dads who helped Mitchell Zito with the boys. Swimming certificates will be handed out to students as soon as we get the levels ~ Mrs O does our own certificates.
Of course following our Swimming Program comes the bugs. While we want students at school, however, if they are unwell they need to stay at home. If your child is going to be away from school, parents and carers must contact the school on 5827 1373 on that day to let us know that your child is away and why. Otherwise your child is marked as “unexplained absence” and the school will be contacting you.
Students need to be at school to ensure the foundation of their learning continues to grow. Some of our students have already had between 6 to 15 days away from school already this year. As a general rule, I allow 2 days absence per term per student, a total of 8 days for the year. I am sending home letters alerting those families to the high number of absent days and the effect it has on their child’s learning. Your cooperation on this matter is vital and the key to your child being a successful learner.
Last Friday the Division Cross Country was held at Princess Park. Tayah, Maggie, Emily, Amali and Lily M represented K.C.P.S. at this
next level of competition and tried their best, in somewhat trying conditions. Tayah has now qualified in the 11 year old girls age group for the Regional Cross Country Championships at Winton on the 19th June. Congratulations Tayah!
This week our Grade 3 and 5 students are undertaking the National Assessment Program ~ Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). It assesses literacy and numeracy skills through school and life. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the annual NAPLAN Tests in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
Today our Hot Lunch program started for 2019. Students can bring a lunch that can
be heated up in our pie warmer on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Some of our grade 5 and 6 students are responsible for our hot lunch program. Please remember: # No frozen food ~ please thaw any frozen products as this affects heating times; # Please wrap food tightly in foil, keep it flat and clearly name your child’s lunch; & # Let your child know they have a hot lunch so they can put it in the tub when our monitors come to collect the hot lunches.
The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students in Year 4 and up participate in this online survey which is open to schools from the 29th April to 7th June. I will facilitate the survey with all of our Grade 4, 5 and 6 students before the 7th June.

LATE NOTICE REQUEST …
Given our recent well needed rain our grass/weeds
have started to grow making our grounds look
untidy. I was wondering if there 1 or 2 of our Dads
could do a quick run over the untidy parts before
we are on show at the Election and for Education
Week. Please let me know if you can help.
Thank for your continued support.

After a couple of chaotic weeks getting our Mother’s Day gifts made, this week we are decorating our Learning By Doing model. Each grade made a different model: F/1 ~ Spaceship, 1/2 ~ Speed boat, 3/4 ~ Windmill and 5/6 ~ Racing Car. These will be on display in the Library before they are sent home in a few week’s time.
