KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3
Well, what a busy couple of weeks we have had. On Friday we hosted our major fundraiser for the year in our Bogan Bingo and Trivia night at the
Kialla District Hall. It was great to see everyone make the effort and get dressed up in their best bogan outfits and they looked fantastic. We were extremely lucky to get donations from a number of local businesses which I encourage you to support. Jason Welsh from One FM was our MC and he kept the crowd well entertained and in a very generous mood especially while auctioning the horses for the running of the second Kialla Central Cup. We will announce how much money we raised in next week’s newsletters as there are some outstanding payments to be received. Events like these don’t just happen it takes an enormous amount of work. With that said, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the following people: Jason Welsh (MC); Manang who wrote and did our race call, Alan Keat for providing the audio and sound for the night; Parents’ Club: Lisa Irwin, Deanne Moulsdale, Tracy Blake, Annette Hunt, Amy Keat, Wendy Kennedy, Bonnie Morgan, Zoi Tricarico; School Council; Kialla District Hall, Paul Tricarico for organising our MC and collecting donations; our dedicated staff: Mr Zito, Miss Baker, Mrs O and of course everyone who attended the night and made it an enjoyable evening. We truly have an outstanding school and broader community. Last Friday our Foundation to Grade 3 students all attended a Dental Hygiene session with the GV Dentist Group. They discussed sometimes food and everyday foods, how to look after our teeth and gave a demonstration on how to brush your teeth correctly. Students also received a little show bag to take home at the end of the session. Fingers crossed for those parents who have that “clean your teeth” fight each night that this session has been helpful!
On Monday we had our East Goulburn Primary School Sports Association’s Athletics Carnival at McEwen Reserve. The new athletics facilities are fantastic. As usual, the students of Kialla Central Primary School were outstanding. They all demonstrated sports-manship, were well behaved and included others. As a Principal, I could not ask for anymore and I’m very proud of our school. Well done! We had lots of helpers including: Jo & Peter Stonehouse, Patsi Makaronis, Bob Scott, Sara Cuthbert, Annette Hunt, Amy Keat, Wendy Kennedy, Tracy Blake, Dale McCully, Lisa Irwin, Mitchell Zito, Tracey Opie & Ashlea Baker, thanks to you all. It was also great to see so many of our parents supporting our school throughout the day or for the whole day.
Some of our students have qualified for the Division Athletics Championships. I will share these in next week’s newsletter.
This Friday we have our annual whole school excursion to Melbourne. This year we are visiting the new Legoland Discovery Centre at Chadstone. Students will explore Legoland and participate in the following workshops:
F/1 ~ Spinning Tops 2/3 ~ Spin the Gears 4/5/6 ~ Merry Go Rounds
We are then heading to TunzaFun Xtreme at Knox where the students will be tested on various climbing challenges. It is going to be a big day as we are leaving at 7.00am sharp and arriving back at 7.00pm. We are on a tight schedule so please don’t be late. Students need to be in full school uniform, wear runners for the climbing challenge and have plenty of snacks, lunch and drinks for the day. No spending money is required. Please keep an eye on our FB page regarding our return time, as this will be determined by traffic and road works.
The Parent Opinion Survey has been extended to Sunday 3rd September. Some of our families were given a paper
copy and others are trialing the online version. If you have not yet completed the survey, I encourage you to as this provides our school with important information to continue to improve and more importantly celebrate our success as a small rural school. Last weekend the Department of Justice Community Crew visited our school. They did a number of jobs including: mowing, whipper snipping, pressure washed the basketball court and general tidying up. We are so lucky to have this service because without it we would be having more working bees to keep our facilities looking neat and tidy. Thanks to Clayton and the crew!
Unfortunately, there have been a couple of house break ins out our
way recently. Friends of Miss Baker’s were robbed during the day. Please ensure you take the required precautions and be aware of anything that looks suspicious. Debbie Humphries Proud Principal of K.C.P.S.
K.C.P.S. Footy Tipping Competition 2017 Talking Footy with Miss H ...
Round 23 Wrap Wow that is it, the 2017 AFL Home and Away Season is done and dusted! Where did those 23 weeks go? In short results were as follows: On Friday night, the Hawks got home by 9 points over last year’s Premiers the Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium. Well the only game to really discuss this week, those mighty HOT PIES dashing the Demons chance of finally making finals after such a drought. Miss H has a spring in her step while Miss Baker is not a happy camper!! Cheer up Miss Baker its only a game of footy!! Hehe Oh yes the score the Magpies 99 and the Dees 83! Nathan Buckley has been appointed coach for another 2 years! Other Saturday games were: The Kangas easily took care of the Lions by 51 points. This confirmed the Lions as the wooden spooners for 2017! The Swans smashed the Blues at home by a massive 81 points! The Giants were disappointing against the Cats going down by 44 points. The future of the Suns will be another hot topic of conversation amongst the footy experts, as they got hammered by 115 points at Adelaide Oval against the Power. On Sunday, the Bombers secured their spot in the finals by beating the Dockers by 15 points at Etihad Stadium. Bomber 10 will be very excited and I’m surprised I haven’t heard from her yet. The Tigers are up and about as are their dedicated fans. At the MCG the Tigers accounted for the Saints by 41 points. Finally the Eagles took care of ladder leaders the Crows upsetting the perfect 9 for a number of tipsters. Eagles won by 29 points. In a fortnight we will see: Thursday 7th September Crows v Giants at Adelaide Oval Friday 8th September Cats v Tigers at the MCG Saturday 9th September Swans v Bombers at the SCG Power v Eagles at Adelaide Oval Who will win the Kialla Central Primary School Footy Tipping Competition and who will win the Wooden Spoon? These questions and more will be answered on Footy Day Friday 22nd September.
Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – For round 22 were ... sorry all will be revealed on Footy Day.
Footy Tipping Ladder Leaders – Ah Ah … not telling you that either!
