Summary • High salinity (~400 g/L) of produced water was found to be

localized within the study area, and the salinity variation characterized both in lateral and vertical directions.

• Lower salinity was found in both the more shallow and deeper formations in Delaware Basin and Central Basin Platform.

• Highest salinity in Northwest Shelf was found in the more shallow formations.

• The observed variability in salinity can be attributed to variability in the history/evolution of the pore water (e.g., different rock and oil/gas exposure, sea water source composition, evaporation, and intrusion of meteoric water).
