General pointers

1. What dimensions for banner?

2. What essence in each image?

3. Make large images as small as necessary, without losing content.

4. Make smaller images as large as possible, without blurring.

5. Don’t be afraid to leave gaps in the banner.

Solution: problem 1

a) Cut each image to half the width; cut to exact height

b) Merge, but leave gap

c) fill gap with “thick” line in colour, matching background colour of header or page

Problem 2 : Banner promoting several composers’ archives

Problem:

Several images of different sizes, but not enough images

Solution: problem 2

a) Crop largest image as much as possible.

b) Make smaller images as large as possible, without blurring

However, not a great solution.

Solution to problem 3

a) Find further images which relate to the existing one.

b) Crop images so that they fit.
