WELCOME TO THE REVOLUTION...

07 | Welcome to BigBelly

The BigBelly solar compactor is a patented, compacting waste receptacle that is self-powered by solar energy and software-controlled. The BigBelly waste component takes up as much space as the “footprint” of an ordinary rubbish can —but its capacity is five times greater. For single-stream recycling, the BigBelly compacting recycler delivers 5:1 compaction, ideal for high-traffic recycling areas.

Solar Bins Australia aims to be a leader in sustainable waste solutions for all Australians. Our focus as a business is based on delivering cost effective waste management solutions for facilities management companies, councils, governments and mining companies.

Since the introduction of BigBelly Solar Compactors to the Australian market, Solar Bins Australia has been at the forefront of delivering these solutions to the Australian marketplace.

As a national distributor for BigBelly Solar, our team works closely with the American manufacturers to ensure our Australian customers benefit from the latest waste management technologies and sustainable practices available.

BigBelly Solar is a global leader in providing sustainable waste and recycling collection solutions, with satisfied customers in virtually all U.S. States and close to 30 countries. The company provides customer benefits in two core areas – cost efficiency in delivering required waste collection services and development of more environmentally sustainable practices.

Cost efficiencies are created by attacking unnecessary and wasted effort in the collection process. On-demand information powered by solar energy allows for better planning, route optimisation and asset management in waste and recycling operations. In high-demand areas, on-site compaction of trash and/or recycling dramatically reduces required pickups. The result is a process optimised to deliver comparable service levels at dramatically lower process cost. This is why BigBelly Solar’s slogan is: “Eliminating the Waste in Waste Collection.”

Solar Bins Australia is the authorised distributor of BigBelly Products in Australia. This authorisation has been given by BigBelly Solar USA, the founders, developers and patent holders of all BigBelly Branded product and this agreement has been authorised by the BigBelly Solar Executive team.We are excited at the prospect of working with Australian customers and we look forward to the opportunity of discussing with you in the very near future.

Take Action | 08

The waste industry is exploding. Don’t just take our word for it. Look at the facts from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

The total volume of waste generated in Australia nearly doubled from 22.7 million tonnes in 1996-97 to 43.8 million tonnes in 2006-07

Between 1996-97 and 2006-07, the volume of waste produced per person in Australia grew at an average annual rate of 5.4%.

In 1996-97, Australians generated approximately 1,200kg of waste per person. By 2006-07, this had increased to 2,100kg per person. Between 2001 and 2007, the volume of waste disposed to landfill increased from 19.0 million tonnes to 21.3 million tonnes.

Whilst population size is a strong determinant of the volume of waste produced in Australia. Something has to be done.

Australia has about 0.3% of the world’s population, but contributes about 1.5% of total greenhouse gas emissions.

This puts Australians among the highest per capita emitters. In 2007, Australia’s net greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors totaled 597.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (Mt CO2-e) under the accounting provisions of the Kyoto Protocol.

Global warming is real, humans are very likely to be causing it, and …it is very likely that there will be changes in the global climate system in the centuries to come larger than those seen in the recent past”.

WHY WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION...

HISTORY OF BIGBELLY...

09 | History of BigBelly

Since the original BigBelly 1 was developed in 2003, the product, business model and intelligence of the waste solution available to customers has advanced significantly.

The BB2 was the first commercial BigBelly, designed in 2004 and unveiled in April 2005. While there continue to be BB2’s “alive” today, it has been obsolete since 2007, when BB3 was released, and no authorised replacement parts exist.

It can be a quirky machine, too. Learning from the BB2 and BB3 has been engineered into new equipment, so BBS has “wrung out” the difficulties seen in older generations.

We have also vastly broadened the efficacy of the BigBelly system by wirelessly connecting all solar compactors in a customer’s network, allowing operators to see real time and historic fullness and collection information using the web-based “CLEAN” management console.

We have also expanded the BigBelly system with the addition of recycling components that also sense and report fullness and collection data through the network. With this “Smart Grid for waste & recycling,” we are getting 7:1 reductions in citywide collections without creating a bag weight prob-lem. There are over 13,000 units installed today.

Today, in 2012 the BigBelly 4 solar compactor has a sophisticated, contemporary look, is styled to suit modern day urban placements and is wirelessly connected to BigBelly Solar’s patented waste monitoring technology.

This CLEAN technology allows the 4th generation BigBelly solar compactor to deliver renowned off-grid compaction, now with bi-directional communication, improved software integration & energy management, and new rugged features.

2005: BIGBELLY 2 2012: BIGBELLY 4

Page 11: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

In 2007, BigBelly Solar USA signed an agreement with a waste management company in Australia to become the distributors here in Australia. This company purchased around 100 BigBelly 2 solar compactors. Their aim was to sell these compactors to councils, facility managers and education facilities across Australia.

However, shortly thereafter this company was sold to a larger waste management company who in turn chose to sell the remaining stock of BigBelly 2 to a company called World Wide Environmental Solutions (WWES) Pty Ltd ABN 14 127 309 148.

Since this transaction took place WWES has been marketing BigBelly 2 compactors in Australia, however they are NOT authorised distributors of the BigBelly Product, nor to our knowledge have they claimed to be so.

The existing issue is that the technology offered by WWES is nearly 10 years old. With old technology arises a host of issues, put simply it’s like comparing an old computer to one made today. More accurately, given the powerful network capabilities of the 2012 BigBelly Solar system, it is like comparing a desk telephone to a mobile phone.

Since 2010, we, Solar Bins Australia have worked with BigBelly Solar USA to become the Australian distributor here in Australia.

Over the past 2 years we have been working closely with the BigBelly USA team and in recent months more specifically, the President, Founder and CTO of BigBelly Solar Jim Poss to ensure BigBelly is a prominent force in waste management in Australia.

17 KEY REASONS WHY A BIGBELLY NETWORK WILL WORK FOR YOU...

A BigBelly Waste Network delivers savings network wide

The BigBelly Solar system is not just any old rubbish bin. It is the beginning of a smart, wireless

and integrated system that can assist your business in saving more than just money. Imagine

identifying extra resources that you could return to your business. Imagine reporting annual, year

on year savings to your team. With a BigBelly Solar network all of this is possible.

11 | 17 Key Reasons

1

Effective segregation of waste at the source

Multi-component waste and recycling stations units promote separation of waste streams that

keeps recyclable items out of landfills. Compacting BigBelly and non-compacting SmartBelly

components allow you to mix-and-match configurations to meet the demands for each waste

stream at each location with the appropriate capacity.

2

Page 13: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

17 Key Reasons | 12

Dependable of equipment and service delivery

The solution is simple on the surface, but is powered by patented and proven fourth-generation

technology. The BigBelly Stations are CE and RoHS compliant and have already been tested in

some of Australia’s harshest and remote environments.

3

Complete Time Management, we maximise productivity.

By installing a network of BigBelly Solar compactors we will help your waste management teams

maximise their productivity by knowing exactly where and when they need to empty the bins in

their network. Further to this, your team will need to service the network less often as our bins

compact rubbish by up to 5 times that of a normal receptacle. The choice is clear. Choose BigBelly.

4

An “Eye in the sky” over your waste network

From any web browser, the new CLEAN ™ Management Console provides unprecedented visibil-

ity and transparency into public space waste & recycling collection operations. New visualisation

tools and reporting capabilities provide powerful insights for more efficient management of opera-

tions, better activity tracking and enhanced auditing of results.

5

We have a solution for every street corner

Each waste and recycling station is comprised of one-to-three components. Compacting BigBelly

components can be used for high-demand areas, while SmartBelly components can be used for

lower-frequency areas. These components can be mixed-and-matched to create the perfect

combination for the volume of waste and recycling each location. Supported waste streams include

rubbish, single-stream recycling, bottle/can recycling and paper recycling and organics.

6

Solar Bins Australia is here to ensure you are guided and consulted every step of the way. From

initial consultation, site visits, data processing, waste network analysis, delivery, installation,

marketing, follow up and on-going support, you will have a dedicated Account manager to help you

every step of the way.

In every proposal we provide, in every delivery we make we ensure we clearly outline to you what

you can expect from us and our products. We will provide you with a month by month overview at

the proposal stage of what you can expect from us. On receipt of order we will then provide you

with a detailed mobilisation schedule highlighting in greater detail each step of the process. This

will ensure your risk is removed and you are able to report the progression to your organisation.

12

Measured service outcomes against agreed KPI’s

Are you looking for a complete end to end BigBelly Waste Solution? We can provide you with

measured service outcomes to ensure we implement the network effectively, train your personnel

to an operational level and seamlessly install our network to ensure zero down time to your current

customer service level agreements.

13

Competitive pricing - Take advantage today

For many years Australia has been at the wrong end of a poor US dollar exchange rate. Today the

exchange levels have met parity, which means the BigBelly is more affordable than ever. Our

customers are experiencing savings of up to 25% on previous years and we are committed to

ensuring the competitive pricing continues.

14

Page 16: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

15 | 17 Key Reasons

Our system ensures more environmentally sustainable practices

More environmentally sustainable practices result from several aspects of the BigBelly Solar

intelligent waste and recycling collection system. Every unnecessary collection that is eliminated

results in fewer gallons of fossil fuel that are burned, fewer pounds of CO2 and other vehicle

exhaust emissions that are sent into the air we breathe, and valuable labor hours that are

conserved and devoted to other priorities.

15

Be gone with the Ibis!

Birds, rats, cats, dogs and of course the beautiful yet destructible Ibis are a menace on our waste

networks. BigBelly’s enclosed waste & recycling components keep litter in and pests out. Open

accessed bins only attribute to this problem and encourage overflow and pest attraction. BigBelly

is a closed system and are safe, easy to use, and designed to keep out pests.

16

Reliable performance everywhere, every day, every condition

The BigBelly components have proven their worth in urban streets, parks, colleges, arenas —in all

weather conditions. Designed for reliable performance 24/7/365 in all climates and latitudes, the

BigBelly solar compactor and BigBelly compacting recycler are powered by sophisticated and

patented software that allows each BigBelly compactor to run for one week on the equivalent

energy of brewing one pot of coffee.

17

Page 17: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

17 Key Reasons | 16

Page 18: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

17 | Visibility and Control

The BigBelly Solar intelligent waste & recycling system features advanced software capabilities that provides visibility and accountability for the entire organisation.

The CLEAN ™ (Collection Logistics Efficiency and Notification) web-based management console is accessible through any computer with an Internet connection and enables the customer to direct pickups as required, streamline work processes, and more efficiently monitor assets and people.

Powerful analysis combined with simple and easy-to-understand presentation delivers valuable and actionable information. How much more efficient and flexible could your operations be if you knew the status of every trash and recycling bin – at all times, accessible from anywhere? This essential software tool gathers historical data, delivers analysis of patterns of activity, and provides management reporting.

System Overview

The BigBelly System Delivers Unprecedented Operational Insights and Dramatic Resource Efficiencies, while Maintaining Service Levels. The BigBelly Solar intelligent waste & recycling collection system has been designed to harness the power of information technology and renewable energy to solve an expensive and messy problem: how to more efficiently manage the process of collecting solid waste and recycling.

Figure 1: CLEAN Management System in Action

BIGBELLY NETWORKBRINGING YOU VISIBILITY AND CONTROL...

Page 19: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

Visibility and Control | 18

Powerful and easy to use, the next-generation BigBelly System – a Smart Grid for Waste & Recycling ™. – delivers the following capabilities:

From any web browser, the new CLEAN ™ Management Console provides unprecedented visibility and transparency into public space waste & recycling collection operations. New visualisation tools and reporting capabilities provide powerful insights for more efficient management of operations, better activity tracking and enhanced auditing of results.

Behind the scenes, the network Command Center crunches the data that delivers the reporting and insights and controls the waste & recycling stations, while providing remote diagnostics, over-the-air software upgrades and proactive maintenance options.

Optimising collections allows teams to maintain high service levels, while dramatically reducing costs. Patterns of historical information allow customers to drive even deeper efficiencies by adjusting routes and staff dispatching patterns. Finally, real-time information ensures “no surprises” and allows the organisation the flexibility to shift to prevent issues and address changing conditions on the ground (e.g. special events, seasonal usage, population or foot traffic growth areas, etc.).

On the street, in parks and on campus, the family of BigBelly and SmartBelly Waste & Recycling Stations has been substantially expanded to address a broader range of customer situations:

• The 4th generation BigBelly solar compactor delivers renowned off-grid compaction, now with bi-directional communication, improved software integration & energy management, and new ruggedised features.

• Adding to the BigBelly line of solar-powered compactors, the BigBelly compacting recycler brings the benefits of on-site and off-grid compaction to single stream recycling in high-volume locations. • For less heavily trafficked areas, an entirely new family of sensing, but non-compacting, SmartBelly components spans a full range of waste, recycling and organics streams to help you meet the needs of Zero Waste initiatives.

• The combination of these “mix and match” system components enables a full range of custom-configured stations that address specific waste & recycling capacity and stream mix, giving customers a “solution for every corner”.

• Customers use this information to more efficiently plan collection routes and work zones, more seamlessly absorb “peak” activity without costly overtime, and generally improve resource planning.

• Managers today face new challenges which require new thinking and innovation. Better information leads to better decisions.

Become more efficient – with transparency and confidence.

Page 20: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

19 | CLEAN Management Console

The CLEAN ™ Management Console delivers powerful, real-time and historical information to any operations director, staff member, or stakeholder with a web-enabled device and authorised, secure access.

With the ability to constantly access collection activity and station fullness levels, the CLEAN Management Console provides waste collection teams with the information required to better plan collection routes and pickups, and the visibility and accountability organisations need to effec-tively manage their resources.

The central element of the BigBelly Solar value proposition is dramatic reductions in operating costs without any reduction in service levels. The CLEAN Management Console provides the vis-ibility and transparency to make sure that operations are planned and optimised to deliver on that capability.

Each BigBelly Solar waste and recycling station uses wireless data technology to communicate station-level information to a network of servers in the BigBelly Solar Command Center.

These servers process the information to present what you see in the Management Console: historical patterns, real time information, correlation with maps to visually depict information, and other useful operational data for purposes such as asset and personnel management. The ability to extract historical patterns, sorted by activity groupings (e.g., by collection route), enables users to gain powerful insights to drive decisions on more efficient resource utilisation.

Customer-specific access is available through a password-protected Internet portal, enabling remote management of settings along with customised analysis and reporting capabilities and tools to support management decision making.

The CLEAN Management Console has been specifically designed to be analytically powerful, but simple to understand and use as an essential part of the BigBelly Solar intelligent waste & recycling collection system.

The CLEAN Management Console:

No wasted trips – pick up when readyIntelligent routing & dispatch – save labor & fuelMonitoring & maintenance – get to issues before the phone rings.

UNDERSTANDING THE CLEAN MANAGEMENT CONSOLE

Page 21: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

CLEAN Management Console | 20

The CLEAN Waste Management Console in operation

A solution for every need

Page 22: Solar Bins Proposal - 2012

21 | CLEAN Management Console

The BigBelly Solar intelligent waste & recycling collection system is a powerful and innovative way to achieve operational and financial benefits, while also advancing your community’s or institution’s sustainability goals.

With networked intelligence and a mix & match family of sensing and compacting stations to fit the characteristics of every location, the BigBelly System delivers the optimal waste & recycling footprint for your public space needs. Comparing monthly operational savings to monthly system costs, the savings typically exceed the costs substantially – often by 50% or more.

This ability to generate immediate positive operating benefit and cash flow can be exploited by customers in a number of flexible ways:

For customers who wish to leverage the BigBelly System benefits so that operating costs in its budget are offset by operating savings, BigBelly Solar and its financing partners can provide an operating lease whereby the customer is, in effect, “renting” a service and not taking ownership of any purchased assets.

For customers who wish to use capital dollars, Solar Bins Australia offers capital leasing programs (lease-to-own) that allow customers to spread out its capital costs in a manner that better matches anticipated savings.

Customers may also directly acquire the BigBelly System from Solar Bins Australia as a capital purchase, which may come out of annual budgetary appropriations or be part of a multi-purpose bond. The BigBelly System typically satisfies requirements for capital-eligibility.

Regardless of the method used to acquire the BigBelly System and its benefits, your investment will return dividends with each eliminated collection as you reallocate labor, conserve fuel and extend the life of your vehicles and infrastructure.
