Dear Key Club, To my fellow Key Clubbers. Over this past year I have felt like we
have become such a family I cant express how much I enjoy be-
ing in the same Key Club as you. I wanted to at first change
schools because my program area wasn't doing to hot. But I
thought about leaving our Key Club and thinking I would be
leaving a family. Then I decided that I wouldn't leave Key Club
and then I got a new chef and my Culinary department is doing
better then ever. I know we aren't a perfect family, we have
clicks and drama, we also may not like some people in our Key
Club, but that what makes us a family. We still get together and
do service together and everyone has made me so proud. I just
wanted to say that my Key Club year wasn't perfect, I went
through stress after stress, But I had my friends and all of you by my side to help. I had so much fun
this year I cant even explain it. Thank you for making this years experience a great one. Before my
term ends as your bulletin editor I would like to say a few things to all of you. When Rosalyn Cheng
comes into office please write her articles and visuals it will make her life a whole lot easier. Intro-
duce yourself to her and try to get to know her she is a really good person. I feel kind of sad but
happy at the same time. I wish I could have done better on these newsletters and I am going to
miss making them but I am definitely not going to miss the stress. I might cry at our end of the year
banquet and maybe even DCON. Because serving as your bulletin editor has made me a better
person and I just loved doing this job. I'm going to miss being your bulletin editor, Making the news-
letters was fun and stressful. This year being in office was something I never expected to happen.
One last thing before I go. I am so PROUD of all of you who have been going to the events and
even our meeting now that we have lost a lot of members. YOU do not now how happy I am to
see all your dedicated faces at the meetings having fun during the ice breakers and what not. I
cant express to you how happy I am. To all the rest of you, THANK YOU all for coming to our events
and keeping Key Club in your hearts, I hope that you all make it so that you will come to our meet-
ings when there are less people there, stay dedicated , there are a lot of opportunities out there
for each and one of you. My word of advice is just that. STAY DEDICATED. Thank you all for letting
me serve you as your bulletin editor.

SENIORS 2013 Any last words? 4 years. That's what you get when you enter high school. 4years. 4 years to make friends, build bonds, and create memories and laughs to last a lifetime. I was able to meet my closest friends in key club and, through all the events, we were able to create so many amazing memories that I will cherish forever. From waking up at 3 am to spirit-readying ourselves for RTC to sleepless nights at Relay for Life. These four years with Key Club have been an amazing journey and will remain in my heart as some of the best memories I have of high school.

My Key Club experience has been... unforgettable. NOT ENOUGH words can describe it.. But here we go... Lets just say, it really was a life changing experience, it was something I needed. I look at many things now in a different perspec-tive, everything more in a positive way. When I thought of community service, at first I was like, "Why would I want to do that, voluntarily ". But Key Club shun a new light on my way of thinking of it. Doing community service with friends, makes everything so much different! I didn't think of it was "work" anymore, I thought of it as "helping", because helping your community is something so great, and the feeling you get is amazing. The people l met, I know these friend-ships will last. Being able to befriend them in less than a second, is crazy! They are people I NEVER thought I would be friends with... but I'm so glad we have this bond now. Sharing the same love and passion with thousands of others for this club is something I love so much. Being able to connect with people throughout my entire district, wow. I look up to the Kiwanians here today.. The spirit, oh how I love to show spirit! "I feel gooood! OH I feeel so gooood!" I love to represent my club, my division, my district! Screaming my lungs out at RTC, and Fall Rally is totally worth losing my voice the next day. I'm glad I got to be in this club for four years. No wait, I'm glad to be apart of this FAMILY, because we are all one Ohana. I will miss Key Club dearly since its something that's been with me from the beginning of high school, and it will be at the end... But the memories will last forever. ♥

Hello my name is Marcus and I have servd as NWCTA key clubs VP Historian and as
one of the most dedicated member. I am not the most spirited key clubber but I
make up for it with the amount I serve the club. Key club is pretty much my life for
the most part, other than school it takes up a majority of my time. I like to say that in
my free time I like to draw pictures of stuff on paper, usually with a pencil but some-
times I have even used a pen sometimes when I was feeling a bit spontaneous. I
also like to write, mostly poetry and stuff of that sort that have a sort of poetic
rhyme scheme and feel to them if that makes sense. I also practice photography
when I can with my weapon of choice being a Nikon D3100 which I call "Nicky".
Photography is fun, it is an amazing thing to do even though it can be difficult at
times since I don't have much time to practice to Better my skills in certain settings. I
also dance...to music. I just dance for fun and post videos sometimes. That's pretty
much my life so ya.

GOOD BYE 2012-20143 board
In my second to last meeting, I was the last one in the theater packing up leftover agendas, the banner, key club bell, and gavel. As I looked out into the empty theater, I reminisced my whole key club career. Holding office for each of my high school years really showed me a unique perspective of Keyclub. Our rationale was not only the core values; there was much more than that. Each meeting and service event to me was a consolidation of camaraderie and each board meeting was a construction of team work. I learned to acquire as many traits and morals as possible so you can master those skills to pass it on to others. I hope to do so for the 2013-2014
board. The business-orientated ethics of this year's Keyclub was transitioning to family morale. Now as a senior I contemplate upon my final months of high school while reminiscing my seemingly endless terms through keyclub. De-spite the inevitable decreased retention of our members in march, I find my key club career complete. I had the chance to exhibit characteristics of leader-ship, character building, inclusiveness, and caring to our members, only to hope they embed those aspects in their mindset for a lifetime. Once a key clubber upon taking that pledge, ALWAYS a key clubber.
Jordan Afaga
President 2012-2013
For the passed 4 years key club has been my life and probably one of the best parts. I joined freshman year and it was pretty basic to me at first, it wasn't really special to me in anyway. Once I got to know the people in the club, became involved with them in and out of events truly is what made the experience as amazing as it was. It was the influence of these people that lead me to the posi-tion I have now as vice president, which has really changed my outlook on what key club is, and what it stands for. Hold-ing this position I took a place in making some of the most influential decisions
that can be made for a club and along with the rest of the board, it was-n't a truly easy task to accomplish since with all of the factors that had to be considered with every decision. But having to make these deci-sions has made me grow as a leader and as an overall individual by making me stronger in the sense that I am now able to make influential decisions and accept the consequences but bask in the glory of the overall benefits of the decision. It has been amazingly wonderfully spec-tacular serving this club as VP, I will miss it.
Marcus Castile
Vice President 2012-2013
My 2012-2013 Key Club year has definitely been quite an eventful one. From RTC and Fall Rally to all the events our club participated in this year, my term as a Vice-President has been the experience of a lifetime. I admit it was challenging at times to handle over 200 members at every event, waking up at 6 in the morning and volunteering for up to 12 hours, but it was definitely worth it. Knowing that our club has made a difference in the lives of others makes me very proud to be a part of this club. Seeing the dedication our members have to helping others drives me to strive to make our club achieve our maximum potential and I can proudly say we have done that this year. From winning RTC and Fall Rally to getting Club of the
Month, I will always be proud to be a part of this club. I can't wait to soar even high-er next year!

Vice President 2012-2013
Hello fellow key clubbers! My name is Britney Trieu. This past year I’ve had the honor of being able to serve you all as one of the secretaries of this club. I have never felt so in-volved with a club before this year. There were so many details that go into making a successful club that I did not know before becoming a board member. This year, I was able to grow as a person by having the responsibilities of a secretary. Being a part of key club has made my high
school experience much fuller. We had a great year with multiple memorable moments. For example, our club won our division spirit stick at RTC, we broke our school’s record for the most ser-vice hours in a month, and we introduced countless new events. As the key club year is coming to the end, I am sad to say goodbye. Although, I am very excited to see how much our club will be able to grow next year. I’m sure we will only continue to get better and provide even more community service.

Being secretary this year was quite an experience. Since I was a representa-tive last year, the role of a secretary wasn’t very new. Although one of the hardest parts about being secretary is maintaining a stable communication with my reps and overall being a role model to the members. I started off the year with goals, and right now I could proudly say that I have met all but one of them. One of them is to win the distinguished secretary award, which is yet to be announced at DCON. I could say that I have done better than last year’s secretary because I was trained to be better by the IP secretary, and I plan on motivating my
secretary elect to do the things I never got the chance to do. What I will miss most about key club is the bonding. Yes, service will always be on top but without the relationships and the communication I have with my club, I wouldn’t have been doing the works I do today. I will greatly miss seeing new faces in meetings and being one of the first to introduce myself. The past three years of being in key club, I have continually learned one thing: Key Club is like a second family. I hope to BEE involved in the division more next year and not let my position define what I could do in my community.
Austin Madriaga
Secretary 2012-2013
As an officer, I enjoyed being able to get to know members and serving with my fellow officers. I was able to grow not only as a person, but also as a leader. The one thing that I will miss is the inclusiveness that I built with the other board members. Key Club allowed me to break out of my shell and build a strong friendship with people in Key Club. Although I am sad that my term has come to an end, I am excited to see the new officers and member grow throughout the year.

Serving as an SAA for my club was one of the best experiences. Since I’ve always loved the spirit part of Key Club, RTC and Fall Rally this year made me extremely proud, especially as the SAA. At RTC, the club blew me away with how hard they cheered. I’d never seen so much passion in them before. When we won in our division, I almost started crying because I was so happy. I still get chills listening to our cheers because of how amazing and clean the whole club sounds. Fall Rally had the same result. Even though it was our whole division, I was happy enough to cry when we won the spirit
stick. Those moments made me so proud to call myself an NWCTA Key Clubber in Division 28 West. The various service projects throughout the year too felt great, and it was great to see so many members involved and enjoying the events. The experience of being an officer in my club can be summed up by saying that I’m just proud and happy that our members served the club, cheered their hardest, and were able to experience Key Club. I hope at DCON this year and in Key Club next year that the pas-
sion intensifies. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the club, you’re all amazing.
Camille Corpus
SAA 2012-2013
This last year as a Sargent at Arms was amazing. I loved to see the dedication of the newly found mem-bers. As the SAA it made it easy to get to know a lot of the members while I walked around getting famil-iar with faces and names. Junior made it hard to keep up with key club, but I still loved getting in-volved in all the events and what not that went on through the year. However I won't be returning on board I will still show my club spirit and show up to all events and what not. I expect a lot from this com-
ing year from the board. It is much bigger than that of what we ever had. Even now there is now three Sargent at Arms. Its a great bunch and I know the key club will be amazing, because we can only go up from here and this is one of the best years that Northwest and the entire Division 28 west had.

This Key Club year was filled with many different experiences. Being a part of the board, being the sophomore rep was an exciting experi-ence. Starting off the year I honestly did feel it as a bit of a chore having to do all the hour inputting but right away that feeling disappeared. Coming to the weekly board meetings I felt I was actually doing something more than my previous year. Even with a rep only being a step from a regular member I still felt I was helping a lot more and enjoyed every moment I had being a rep. This year by far I can say that I have gone to more service events than ever. One of the most memorable was being the Red Rock Food and Wine festival. For a whole day I ran around and helped with many things. Along side with all my friends, it was a great time, even with how tiring it was going at it all day. An-other one of the most memorable events would have to be all the Springs Preserve events that I went to. Practically going every chance I got, I can say that I don’t regret a single time I had went as each time I did go I was always with friends having fun. Even though my term is com-ing to and end I can honestly say I’m fine with it, I had my fill of being a part of the amazing board, getting closer with everyone from board to members. I learned many things from my term and definitely will apply it to the following year. Needless to say I will miss coming to the weekly board meetings with everyone, but regardless board or not I will still be apart of this great Key Club. I had a great run now it’s time for me to step down and give the next person the spotlight.
Hey juniors! Aha, mostly kidding, I just needed a chance to say that while it’s still technically my job. My term as the Junior Class Representative is coming to an end, and although I know my elect, Jonathan Brown will take care of the class of 2014 wonderfully; this is a very bittersweet moment. Frankly, I really didn’t think I’d see this day. When I ran for Junior Rep I couldn’t imagine my senior year or my term ending, and I here I stand (or sit cross legged typing, as the case may be) a year later saying farewell. Maribeth recently posted a picture of the 2012-2013 board just beginning their terms at final DCM of my sophomore year and it seemed an eternity ago. From that moment on we have had our turmoil’s, certainly, but the amount of good times we’ve had, and the foundation we have laid for this club next year speak more truly than any of our hardships. When we weren’t work-ing our butts off with infinite discussion and deliberation we always had a blast (sometimes in between the countless hours of proposals as well). I
know I would have never been as close to the members of the board without ya know, being on board with them. I’m going to miss our lovely seniors: Jordan, Marcus, and Maribeth but I know that this is not so much a farewell as a “see you later”, but the nostalgia is hitting me hard nonetheless. I’m going to miss being the direct liaison for my peers, and being able to get them what they need on a really personal level. I am going to miss harassing them every month and I am going them harassing me! I am going to miss the sound of satisfaction in a friend’s voice when they hear they’re on track for their 60 hours. I am going to miss helping them get to events when they needed a ride, or just keeping them up to date and being able to answer their questions. I will miss my nametag and I will miss this year’s Key Club shirt and I will miss having feathers in my hair at RTC, and I will miss the ache of not going to Fall Rally, and I will miss the freshmen being freshmen, as much as I look forward to meeting our new young ones. I will miss not being the tallest person at meetings (we’ll see how that goes for me, fingers crossed). This was my first year on board, and naturally it has a special place in my heart. I know this is not fare-well for me yet, but thank you for allowing to serve you all this year. Stay cute.
Being on Key Club board for 2 years was really something. I felt as, more doors opened to me. Getting the chance to interact with others from different clubs, divisions, was really exciting for me! I represented the 2013 class, and I was proud. There were many times where I felt like I wasn't being a great representative, which brought me down a whole lot... but then the feelings I get when the people who I represent tell me I'm doing a great job, which puts me back on my feet, Bonding with the people on board is something I really appreciate. Even though we constantly yell at each other, don't agree, or anything like that, we know we'll al-ways be there for each other in the end. It was great to be recognized and such, but I felt like every member in Key Club was important as much as us. Seeing the amount of hours my members did sure did put a big smile on my face. Running for board was nerve wrecking, but I'm so happy to experience this for two years! I know next years board will do great, good luck :)
High school is a time of discovery, adventure, and awkwardness. Undoubtedly all these things are prominent in freshman year, especially awkwardness. Without Key Club, my awkwardness perhaps would never have gone. Without Key Club, I would never have had discovered so many things or have had half the adventure I had this year. Becoming freshman representative just added to the near limitless range of adventure and discovery I could have experienced this first year of high school. I had never planned to become freshman representative; I was forced on stage the day they were asking for possible candidates. But, to me, staying in the race to become freshman representative was the best decision I could’ve made this year. Now, I have much more insight on what community service is and its depth and I love it all the more. Along with doing community service to get that wonderful feel-ing inside, I can do it with friends and a community of people aiming for the same cause which makes it even sweeter. Being an officer in Key Club also allowed me to mature and take on a bigger responsibility which I think is magnificent. It also gave me extra, strong social skills and allowed me to challenge myself which has helped me so much already. It will help me in the future too, which is really nice. This year has been an incredible journey of service, great experiences, and actually, growing up. Everything that has happened this year in Key Club and as an officer has shaped me in some way, big or small. Without these experiences, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Key Club helped shaped my life in many ways, and for that, I am especially thankful. Thank you guys for this amazing year as freshman representative!

Dcm banquet
The Key Club End of the Year DCM/Banquet was a great time with great people. Recent updates from various clubs in Division 28 West were discussed, ranging from passed events, such as the Color Run, and upcoming events, such as District Convention. The banquet portion of the event was very enjoyable, as members were able to converse with others from different clubs while eating dinner. Awards were also given out to honorable members and clubs of Key Club, such as the most improved club award given to Cimarron-Memorial High School. Towards the end, the farewell speech of current Lieutenant Governor, Johansen Pico, was given as well a speech from the incoming Lieutenant Governor for the 2013-2014 school year, Jerry Thomas. These speeches brought both sadness for the ending of this year and excite-ment for the next year to come. Overall, members of Division 28 West had a great time spending their last DCM together eating dinner, conversing with friends, listening to great Key Club updates.
Color Run Color Run is defintely something I enjoyed! Waking up early in the morning, seeing downtown Vegas was pretty crazy. They gave our team blue shirts, and told us to go to the finish line. It took us about 30 minutes just to find our spot. We moved a whole bunch of water cases which gave us sore arms the next day, but no biggie! Some of us passed out water to people who made it to the finish line, while others gave energy bars for them to refuel. This event was so hyped up and fun! At first, I DID NOT WANT any color on me! But then I thought, "This is the color run... I need color on me!". My friends and I went inside the color pit and we had a color countdown. Once we left that, we realized we started with barely any color, to color everywhere! It was really fun to bond with our members and members from different clubs! I definitely want to do this again!
DCM Banquet This is my 3rd End of the Year DCM Banquet! Oh the feels I get every time they come around because we realize its time to end the term soon. Getting to see my friends from other schools, and meeting new ones as well was great! The food was great, and everything was great! Now the speech is the part that always hits me the most! Yunas and Stevens speech made me tear up the past years. This years was Johansens turn to say his fare-well speech. Hearing his speech made me tear up and get chills! I remember last year he was the one running the banquet as he was the LTG elect, and just yesterday, it was his last DCM. Time flies by fast, and reflecting
on this year was crazy how amazing it was. I'm so glad Johansen was our LTG, because he did BEEyond what we all expected! Not only is he my LTG, hes a great friend♥. Congratulations to all the clubs and individuals who won awards that night, they truly deserve it!
Color Run Color Run was amazing! I've never seen so many colorful runners before. We got to Free-
mont Street early in the morning and were split into the groups we signed up with. We got
assigned jobs along the running course, and my friends and I got placed at the very end of
the race where we handed out water bottles and directed people to the stage, where they col-
or party kept on going. All the runners were so pumped up, and they even threw colors at the
volunteers so we could join the party too! At the end everyone got together at the stage and
when the DJ and MC counted down, everyone threw all their color into the air and created a
beautiful cloud if colors. Although the powder didn't taste very good or come off very easily,
the event was a huge success, having friendly company and quite a colorful crowd

Language Fair
I wasn’t a volunteer for the Language Fair, but I did go as a non-competing student, and I was surprised. I wasn’t really sure
what to expect from the Language Fair, but it was a lot cooler than I imagined. So many people from other schools were
there, and I was surrounded by so many cultures. I went to a few of the competitions, like the Language Bowls and singing
performances and the people competing were actually all really different. There were also booths from clubs and languages
classes from other schools selling cultural food. I honestly really enjoyed it. Other cultures are fascinating, and the language
fair was a great way to experience them through the students representing them. The students themselves were really nice,
too. I met a few people and they were all friendly and really excited about the language fair and their language. What disap-
points me is the fact that there might not be a language fair next year, and I really want to go again. Hopefully more people
will get involved and compete so there’s another language fair. Like I keep saying, it was really cool and I’d love to learn more
about other cultures as well because of it.
